NAACP Image Awards:
January -- At the 2nd edition of NAACP Image Awards, the Jackson 5 receive the NAACP Image Award for Best Singing Group of the Year from the National Association For The Advancement Of Black People.

'Sixteen' And 'Spec' Magazines' Awards:
The Jackson 5 was voted Best Group Of The Year by 16 magazine and Michael was voted Best Single Of The Year ('I'll Be There') by Spec magazine.

1971:

January -- At the 3rd edition of NAACP Image Awards, the Jackson 5 receive the NAACP Image Award for Best Singing Group of the Year from the National Association For The Advancement Of Black People.

Key To The City Of Gary (Indiana):
January 31 -- The Jackson 5 return to Gary (Indiana) for the first time to play two benefits concerts for Mayor Richard Hatcher’s re-election campaign at Westside High School and they receive the Key To The City. A ceremony was held outside their former home at 2300 Jackson Street.

Grammy Awards:
March 16 -- At the Grammy Awards show held at the Hollywood Palladium, 'ABC' was nominated for an award in the category Best Pop Song, but does not win.

Best Rhythm and Blues Vocals (Jackson 5)

January -- The Jackson 5 receive the NAACP's Award for Male Vocal Group or the Year.

Award Of Thanks:
January 12 -- Mrs. Coretta Scott King President of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Social Change, present The Jackson 5 with an Award of Thanks for the Jackson 5's donation of their talent to the First Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Commemoration Concert in Atlanta.

February 26 -- Michael was voted Best Male Singer Of The Year by 16 magazine and voted Best Single Of The Year ('Rockin' Robin') by Spec magazine.

Key To The City Of New York:
June 30 --The Jackson 5 are presented the 'Key to the city of New York by Deputy Mayor Ed Hamilton of the Mayor's office during their recent Madison Square Garden appearance.

U.S. Congress:
September -- The Jackson 5 receive special recommendation from the US Congress for providing positive role models for youths.

Billboard Magazine Awards:
December -- Billboard magazine names Michael Jackson as Top Singles Artist and Top Singles Male Vocalist of the year.

1973:

Golden Globe Awards:
January 28 -- Michael receives the Golden Globe Award for the "Best Original Song" in a movie for his song, 'Ben' at the 30th Golden Globe Awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Key To The City Of Buffalo:
The Jackson 5 receive the Key to the City of Buffalo from Mayor Stanley Makowski.

The Organization Of African Unity:
February -- The Jackson 5 receive the Organization of African Unity award – For Strengthening Afro-Americans.

1975:

Congressional Black Caucus:
The Jackson 5 are made Honorary Members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The Family Achievement Award :
May 5 -- The Family Achievement Award was presented to the Jackson 5 by D. C. Bicentennial Commissioner James Gibson at Shady Grove Music Theatre, Montgomery County, Maryland The award was for the J5’s commitment to the deprived & music industry.

1979:

Key To The City Of Oakland:
December 16 -- This honour was presented to The Jacksons from Mayor Lionel J. Wilson during their Destiny Tour stop in Oakland.
