Can You Feel It - The Jacksons Collection CD Album CoverCan You Feel It - The Jacksons Collection

'Can You Feel It - The Jacksons Collection' was released in the UK on March 6th, 2009 through Sony Records. The useful 'Can You Feel It: The Jacksons Collection' could be subtitled "The Epic Years" instead, since that is the ground covered here, from 1976's The Jacksons (where the brothers worked with Gamble & Huff) to 1989's Michael-less '2300 Jackson Street' (which involved collaborations with Babyface and Teddy Riley).

Almost all of the notable singles that charted in the U.S. are present, including must-haves like 'Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)' and seven other Top Ten R&B singles, yet 'Lovely One' and 'Heartbreak Hotel' -- both of which fared just as well -- are not included. You probably won't miss the number 88 R&B smash 'Time Out For The Burglar', from the soundtrack to Whoopi Goldberg's 'The Burglar'.

My cd album is printed in the EU with the series number: 88697473382.

The Very Best Of The Jacksons CD Album CoverThe Very Best Of The Jacksons

This Jacksons compilation, 'The Very Best Of The Jacksons' was released on January 13th, 2009 in the USA through Epic/Legacy Records. A part of an extensive budget series of Sony-distributed titles, covers the entirety of the brothers' stint on Epic, from The Jacksons (1976) through the Michael-less '2300 Jackson Street' (1989).

The Very Best Of The Jacksons (2CD Set) CD Album CoverThe Very Best Of The Jacksons (2CD Set)

'The Very Best Of The Jacksons' could well be the most definitive compilations over the decades, released on June 28th, 2004 in the UK through Epic Records. Split across two discs, disc one primarily features the early Motown days and the second, mainly their hits as the Jacksons (as opposed to Jackson 5) released on Epic.

Often overshadowed by Michael's subsequent success as a solo artist, this anthology demonstrates why the Jacksons perfect balance of pop and soul has endured when compared to one-time peers such as the Osmonds. The irresistible funk of 'ABC' and 'I Want You Back' are classics of the period as are the incredible ballads 'Got To Be There' and little Michael's ode to a loveable rodent, 'Ben'.

Highlights of disc two are predominantly from their massive albums 'Destiny' and 'Triumph', released in the late 1970's, early 1980's; 'Can You Feel It', 'Blame It On The Boogie' and 'Shake Your Body' to name but three. It was around this time that Michael began his adult solo career and 'The Very Best Of The Jacksons' appropriately ends with a live version of 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' from MJ's 'Off The Wall'. Michael may have gone on to eclipse his family but there can be little dispute that the Jacksons are one of the most important musical dynasties ever.

My (2cd set) cd album is printed in Austria with the series number: 516366 2.

The Essential Jacksons CD Album CoverThe Essential Jacksons

'The Essential Jacksons' is the first compilation to cover The Jacksons fourteen-year long tenure at CBS/Epic Records. Released on March 9th, 2004 by Epic in the USA.

Their disco and funk material, highlighted by the singles 'Enjoy Yourself', 'Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)', 'Lovely One', 'This Place Hotel', 'Can You Feel It', and the post-Thriller hit duet with Mick Jagger, 'State of Shock'.

While this material may not be as irresistible or timeless as the Motown material -- nor is it as transcendent as Michael Jackson's solo album 'Off The Wall', which was done in this style, only better -- the best of the singles ('Shake Your Body' and 'Can You Feel It' in particular) stand among the group's best work, and this is the best way to hear it. After all, prior to this collection in 2004, there was no good CD-era compilation of the Jacksons late-70's/early-80's recordings, and this fills that absence very well, containing all the charting hits, usually in their full-length album versions. As an overview of this often-overlooked era in the Jacksons and Michael Jackson's career, this is first-rate.

My cd album is printed in the UK with the series number: EK 86455.

Track list:

1. Enjoy Yourself (Extended Version) - 3:40
2. Show You The Way To Go - 5:26
3. Goin' Places - 4:29
4. Find Me A Girl - 4:33
5. Blame It On The Boogie - 3:30

Goin' Places (re-issue) CD Album CoverGoin' Places (re-issue)

'Goin' Places' is The Jacksons second album for CBS Records Philadelphia International subsidiary. It was released on October 18th, 1977 in the UK, the year before the family group moved to Epic Records in 1978 for their return to mainstream success. This cd album you see is the re-issue and released in 1995.

This is considered their lowest selling album next to '2300 Jackson Street'. The album sold over half a million copies worldwide.

'Goin' Places' did spawn the disco-hit 'Different Kind of Lady' written by the group. The song gave the brothers the confidence to write and produce an entire album by themselves.

The Jacksons (re-issue) CD Album CoverThe Jacksons (re-issue)

'The Jacksons' is the first album released by The Jacksons for Epic/CBS Records on November 27th, 1976 in the UK under the Philadelphia International label. This cd album you see is the re-issue and released in 1995.

The album was the band's first for CBS, following their seven-year tenure on Motown as "The Jackson 5". Jackson 5 member Jermaine Jackson stayed with Motown when his brothers broke their contracts and defected to CBS; he was replaced by youngest Jackson brother Randy.

Philadelphia International heads Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff produced and executive produced the album, including their first top ten hit in 2 years 'Enjoy Yourself', but had a difficult time focusing on a sound for the now-grown-up boy band. However, the group was able for the first time to write their own material, something that had been denied to them at Motown. The Jacksons composed 'Style Of Life' and 'Blues Away' on their own. 'Blues Away' was the first published song written by lead singer Michael Jackson, who began to take a more percussive vocal approach beginning with this album. This album also spawned the second R&B single 'Show You The Way to Go'.

The album was the Jacksons first gold album, despite their having sold more than 10 million albums while at Motown. (Motown's sales and financial records were never presented for auditing by the RIAA until 1976).

All songs produced by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff.
