The Official Michael Jackson Opus (Book)
The first new book about Michael Jackson sanctioned by his estate will be published on December 7, 2009. It will be entitled 'The Official Michael Jackson Opus'. Publisher is Kraken Opus, whose opulent publications focus on major figures and brands in sports and the arts.
A definitive photographic tribute with exclusive and unseen images, and words and essays by those who knew him and worked with him.
Size: 400-page, each measuring 13 x 18 inches, Weight: 12Kg, Paper: 200gsm Matt Art, Case; The leather hand-bound Opus arrives in a silk covered clamshell case. While books by Kraken Opus usually are very expensive, the price of the book will be US$165. According to Kraken CEO Karl Fowler it was a special request by Michael to keep the price of the book as low as possible:
"Michael wanted this to be accessible to as many people as possible."
Kraken Opus will accept pre-orders for the book at michaeljacksonopus.com, michaeljackson.com and through Ticketmaster.
Negotiations for the book project started last year already when Kraken reached out to Michael Jackson through attorney Peter Lopez. Initially, the plan was to include the concerts at London's O2 Arena.
"We wanted to tell the behind-the-scenes story of Michael Jackson the entertainer."
While Michael was in rehearsals, he invited Kraken executives to his house in Los Angeles (USA). When Fowler mentioned they were working on a Disney Opus, Michael reacted "like a boy in a sweet shop. He asked if he could contribute and get a copy." Lopez says Michael Jackson was impressed by the Opuses' "sense of grandeur" and "expressed a definite desire to get on board." But Lopez and Kraken were still in negotiations when Michael Jackson died June 25.
They had to make changes to the book`s content and the chronicling of the London shows "will be sorely missed," Fowler says. "But everyone involved in that tour wants to take part." Celebrities and insiders who knew and worked with Michael Jackson also are expected to contribute.
"We're asking people to write a sentence, a paragraph or a chapter," says Kraken's Jeff Wald. "We expect a huge turnout."
All books include Michael Jackson Opus Reality membership, which provides access to interactive footage with periodic updates.
Additionally, five copies signed by a variety of famous fans will be auctioned to benefit five charities favored by Michael.

Architectural Digest (Magazine)
'Architectural Digest' has dedicated its November issue to Neverland Ranch.
Rumor has it that Michael Jackson's family plans to turn Neverland Ranch into a Graceland-like tourist attraction, which will include a museum, a concert venue, and amusement park. Whether or not that's actually going to happen remains to be seen, but if you're curious about the King of Pop's 2,700-acre estate, Architectural Digest has dedicated its November issue (on sale September 30) to MJ's fantasy home.
The magazine features rare shots of Neverland taken by photographer Harry Benson, who captured Jackson’s bedroom with its two life-size mannequins on pedestals – a girl wearing a British policeman’s hat and a Boy Scout touching hands – which form an archway leading to the door. A huge red throne-like chair ornately trimmed in gilt, featured on the issue’s cover, is next to the bed.
Benson penned the second, more personal story about his experiences photographing Jackson over the years, including when he first met Jackson in 1984 during the Victory Tour and later visited Neverland in 1997.

From the triumph of 'Thriller' to the tragedy of his premature death, this landmark book, over thirty years in the making, tells the full story of Michael Jackson’s epic life. Chatting with the Michael over fried chicken and sweet potato pie at a Jackson family reunion in 1971 (Jackson was twelve years old at the time,) writer Ben Fong-Torres gives us our first glimpse of the young star in the making—the article would be the first of several Rolling Stone cover stories on Jackson. A decade later on the verge of releasing his mega-hit 'Thriller', Jackson tells Gerri Hirshey about the loneliness of stardom, confessing he had only two friends in the world and that he identified with Peter Pan.
Rich in detail and penetrating in scope, Michael weaves together reporting from the likes of Mikal Gilmore, Alan Light, David Ritz and Rob Sheffield. These stories, plus hundreds of rare photographs, compelling new pieces by Jon Dolan on the making of each of Jackson’s albums, the 25 essential moments of Jackson's career, and the chilling account of his final years offer the definitive account of one of music’s greatest, most enigmatic superstars.

Michael Jackson: Before He Was King (Book)
'Michael Jackson: Before He Was King' -- Photographer Todd Gray worked with Michael Jackson for several years before Michael requested that he become his personal photographer, a relationship that would encompass Michael's performances with the Jacksons through the release of his smash solo albums 'Off The Wall' and 'Thriller'.

Michael Jackson's 1988 autobiography, 'Moonwalk', will be released on October 13, 2009 by Harmony Books.
The #1 New York Times bestseller! Michael Jackson’s one and only autobiography – his life, in his words.
“I’ve always wanted to be able to tell stories, you know, stories that came from my soul. I’d like to sit by a fire and tell people stories – make them see pictures, make them cry and laugh, take them anywhere emotionally with something as deceptively simple as words. I’d like to tell tales to move their souls and transform them. I’ve always wanted to be able to do that. Imagine how the great writers must feel, knowing they have that power. I sometimes feel I could do it. It’s something I’d like to develop. In a way, songwriting uses the same skills, creates the emotional highs and lows, but the story is a sketch. It’s quicksilver.
There are very few books written on the art of storytelling, how to grip listeners, how to get a group of people together and amuse them. No costumes, no makeup, no nothing, just you and your voice, and your powerful ability to take them anywhere, to transform their lives, if only for minutes.” –Michael Jackson, in 'Moonwalk'.

'Tribute' comic Book' offers lasting remembrance for fans from Bluewater! There will be released three the same comic books on October 28th, each with a different cover.
To millions he was the King of Pop; one of the world’s most cherished entertainers and a celebrated international icon. With his untimely passing, Michael Jackson left an extraordinary and tragic legacy. Bluewater Productions is paying tribute in October to his memory and legacy with a special collectors edition biography comic.
The newest addition to the publisher's critically acclaimed biography library will trace Jackson's rise as a musical prodigy with the “Jackson 5” through last Thursdays sad end. The book will feature highlights from his storied career and cover his enigmatic private life.
“Michael Jackson's music served as the soundtrack to countless lives…including mine,” said Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, “His influence on our culture has been profound.”
Three different covers of the Michael Jackson's 'Tribute' Books will be released.
'Tribute: Michael Jackson, King of Pop', features a wraparound cover and foreword by "The Michael Jackson Fan Club’s" artist Giuseppe Mazzola. The issue is being written by Wey-Yuih Loh, (Political Power: Colin Powell” and “Political Power: Joe Biden) and illustrated by Giovanni Timpano (Vincent Price Presents). Noted cover artist Vinnie Tartamella will also provide an alternate wraparound cover.
“This is a celebration of his life and what he meant to a legion of fans,” Davis said. “Although the book won’t shy away from some of his personal troubles, we try to tell a balanced story that shows Jackson as a musical genius, an unparalleled superstar and as a complex person.”
Davis noted that he initially waffled at producing a tribute comic, but after receiving dozens of emails and phone calls he knew it was the proper way to show respect and give fans a lasting remembrance.
In recent months, Bluewater has become one of the leading producers of biography comics. Launched earlier this year, Bluewater’s “Female Force” has featured influential women such as Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Princess Diana, Sarah Palin and Oprah Winfrey. A follow-up series, "Political Power" launching in July is set to turn the spotlight on politicians like Colin Powell, Barack Obama, and Al Gore.
