Michael JacksonJackson Accused Of Diverting Cash. 28-10-'03

Michael Jackson has been accused of diverting cash intended for the victims of September 11 to the Church of Scientology.

The singer recorded 'What More Can I Give' after the terrorist atrocities with a list of high-profile names, including Beyoncé Knowles, Mariah Carey and Ricky Martin, and all profits were meant to go to the families of victims.

Michael Awarded Key To The City Of Las Vegas. 26-10-'03

Michael Jackson was yesterday (October 25) in Las Vegas to receive he Key To The City from Mayor Goodman by the afternoon ceremony at the 'Art of Music' Store at the Desert Passage Mall, Las Vegas. He is accompanied by his friend Mark Lester & manager Dieter Wiesner.

In true Michael style, the King of Pop arrived close to an hour late, accompanied by his friend Mark Lester & manager Dieter Wiesner. The ceremony began about an hour later than the original 3:00 time with the King Of Pop being introduced by one of the leading tribute artists, E' Cassanova.

Michael spoke briefly, thanking the Mayor and the audience, telling the fans that "I love you more." He then walked through the crowd, greeting the fans and signing autographs. Michael definitely looked 'Bad,' wearing silver boots, black pants, red beaded applique shirt and double belts along with the traditional sunglasses! Jackson is also there to promote song 'What More Can I Give'.

Jackson caused such excitement among his faithful fans that one woman broke through security to get near her idol.

One onlooker says, "It really was Jackson mania but he seemed very happy about it."

After the ceremonies, and away from the crowd, Mayor Goodman told MJ how much he believes in him. He told MJ that he was so proud that Michael would come to the city, and be accessible to the public. He went on to say that MJ is one of the greatest people in the world, and he was going to make it his business to tell everybody how special MJ was. And would you believe it... he then begged MJ for tickets (for his daughter) to the RMA's.

Michael Jackson returned in the evening to the Art of Music store to be present at a special sale of his memorabilia.

One More Chance Maxi-Single (Promo) Cover'One More Chance' Released To Radio. 16-10-'03

'One More Chance' received its radio premiere yesterday (October 15).

Radio stations in LA and Chicago were the first to spin the record in the States, followed by some European markets. The song has not yet been delivered to every radio station, as calls placed by MJNI to a number of New York area stations resulted in zero familiarity with the song. The UK also has not yet premiered the song.

For fans interested in increasing that awareness of 'One More Chance' at radio, they are encouraged to call their local Top-40 and R&B stations and request the song. Even if radio programmers are unaware of the song, the request should wet their appetites for when it does arrive. The response from DJ's and listeners of stations who have played the song so far has been tremendously positive.

"Speechless" was the word that came from one LA DJ mouth after hearing the song for the first time. Listeners agreed, with 95% of them voting to "smash" the record, versus "trash it."

Number Ones (Off The Wall) CD Album CoverOfficial Sony UK Press Release For 'Number Ones'. 08-10-'03

Sony UK have issued a new press release for Michael Jackson's forthcoming greatest hits album, 'Number Ones'. There will be four covers for the 'Number Ones' album released, a 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller', 'Bad' and 'HIStory' cover.

The press release, including track listing is below. Please note that the specified track listing does not apply for the USA.

Michael Jackson, is gearing up for another phenomenal release; 'Number Ones' - a retrospective of his national and international No.1 hits; an undeniably thrilling collection on both CD and DVD - release date on November 17th.

'Number Ones' was Jackson's first proper compilation album with Sony, after the release of 'HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I' in 1995 (and after the re-release of that album as 'Greatest Hits: HIStory, Volume I'). The album included Jackson singles that reportedly reached number 1 in charts around the world.

The CD, 'Number Ones' begins with a track from one of Jackson's penultimate albums, 'Off The Wall' which was the first record by a solo artist to contain four Top Ten hits. 'Number Ones' rounds out with 'You Rock My World', the mid-tempo winner that marked Jackson's return on 2001's 'Invincible'.

And the future begins now. Included on 'Number Ones' is the brand new single 'One More Chance' (written by R. Kelly) - release date on November 22nd - a subtle return to Jackson's roots as a heart-wrenching balladeer.

The DVD, 'Number Ones' will be released with 4 different covers and contains fifteen short films that are easily the ultimate in videography since the invention of the art form. Buy the DVD at Amazon.

For the discerning Jackson fan and pop music aficionado, four limited edition covers of 'Number Ones' have been commissioned. Each cover portrays Jackson, during four different eras, in a signature pose, including the glittered-socks and one-glove days of 'Thriller', and his often-duplicated tip-toe move, the four limited-edition Jackson covers are each as special as the music contained within.

It is more than just a collection of greatest hits; it is a timeline, a history lesson, a journey, an escapade, and a cacophony of rich, textured, vibrant sounds. It is a lifetime of music. And at the same time, 'Number Ones' ushers in a new era for Jackson's unmatchable accomplishments.

Michael Jackson Up For Nobel Peace Prize. 07-10-'03

This year's Nobel Peace Prize winner is very hard to guess, but US pop star Michael Jackson is among nominees who can forget the award, the director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute said on Monday (October 6).

"This year is very difficult" to guess, Lundestad told Reuters of a record field of 165 candidates. The prize, worth 10 million Swedish crowns (USD 1.29 million), will be announced on Friday (October 10).

Tips for the 2003 prize include Pope John Paul, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Chinese or Iranian dissidents, the European Union and former Czech President Vaclav Havel.

"There are many good candidates, the vast majority of them are serious names. Michael Jackson is maybe not such a serious name, but there are very few in that category," Lundestad said. Jackson has been nominated for promoting peace via pop.

Nobel Peace Prize Nomination
Michael is named as being among the 165 nominees for Nobel Peace Prize.

The 2001 award to the United Nations and Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the 2000 prize to South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung were relatively easy to predict, he said. Former US President Jimmy Carter, a perennial nominee, won in 2002.

Lundestad said the biggest surprise in recent years was when veteran ban-the-bomb scientist Joseph Rotblat won in 1995. Even Rotblat had trouble believing it when Lundestad phoned.

Lundestad typically calls the winner about 45 minutes before the prize is publicly announced at 0900 GMT in Oslo. He said he sometimes does not call when there is a clear favorite - Annan, for instance, did not get a call.

He also said the committee had maintained a left-of-center outlook on world affairs even though three new members joined the five-member panel for six-year terms this year. Lundestad is secretary to the committee, attends all meetings but has no vote.

This year is the first with committee members appointed by five different Norwegian political parties - from far-left to far-right and reflecting the fractured Norwegian parliament since backing for the Labor Party crashed in 2001 elections.

"Norwegians tend to have the same outlook on foreign affairs with two big exceptions - the EU and the Middle East," Lundestad said. "Most Norwegians are automatically, in an international perspective, slightly left of center."

Norway voted "No" to joining the EU in referendums in 1994 and 1972 and the issue is still highly divisive. The Middle East also splits opinion in Norway, which hosted talks on the failed 1993 Oslo accords between Israel and the Palestinians.

Michael Jackson has struck up a friendship with a man who has allegedly been linked to organised crime.

An insider tells Britain's Daily Star, "Michael Jackson hosted a party for Malnik at his restaurant and has been staying at Malnik's house on and off as a long-term guest."

Another source says, "The whole Jackson clan, kids and nannies included, are staying with Malnik. The word is that Al is helping Michael get out of debt. It's all very strange."

But Michael's spokesman says, "Michael knows Malnik socially. There's no business relationship with the two gents."

Michael Jackson has been left distressed and sad after learning his illusionist pal Roy Horn has been mauled by a tiger.

He was immediately rushed to the University Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery and is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

And Jackson - a regular visitor to the gambling metropolis - is highly distraught over the incident.

In a statement he says, "Roy Horn is a special person who brings joy to the world and has always brought good feelings to my life. I am praying for his speedy recovery, and my heartfelt feelings go out to his family."
