Die Jacksons Book Cover'Die Jacksons', A New Book From Joe Jackson. 31-08-'04

It's called 'Die Jacksons', but don't get worried. That's only because "die" is "the" in German. Otherwise, Joseph Jackson 's tell-all book about his famous family should be pretty much of a gloss-over in which he's responsible for his kids' success. The subtitle: 'The Golden Truth About the Jackson Family'.

The book will be published by Random House Entertainment in Germany next week, with Jackson senior set to go on a big book-signing promotional tour that will eventually take him to the Frankfurt Book Festival in late September.

And it's not like Jackson is trading on son Michael's fame or anything. Heaven forbid! The book jacket for 'Die Jacksons' has only one image on it: that of Michael's famous dancing feet in white socks and black patent leather shoes. On his website, the Jackson dad also features a link called "Discography" in which he lists all of the albums ever made by any of his kids including Michael's 'Thriller' and Janet's 'Velvet Rope'. It's unclear if he thinks he produced, wrote, or sang the songs on them.

Of course, in all fairness, Joseph Jackson did whip his kids into a professional frenzy back in Gary, Ind., making it possible for them to launch their various careers. Some have turned out better than others, but Jackson describes his brood as the pop world version of the Kennedys, a family that produced a U.S. president, two senators, and many members of Congress.
I think he means "Kennedys" in a looser sense.

Anyway, it's unclear whether 'Die Jacksons' will make its way to these shores, or if Michael knows anything about it. What is clear is that Jackson, in all likelihood, does not address the issue of whether he issued more Jacksons than we know of, or why he lives apart from his wife, Katherine, in Las Vegas.

Stephen HoefflinJackson's Surgeon Stephen Hoefflin Denies Working On Nose. 30-08-'04

A surgeon's claim that Michael Jackson's nose was repaired using tissue from his ear has been rubbished - by the man who allegedly performed the operation.

Doctor Werner Mang's claimed he worked alongside Doctor Stephen Hoefflin to rebuild the singer's nose by using a piece of his ear after it had been ravaged by years of aesthetic-enhancing operations.

But Hoeffin has hit back, insisting he has never even worked with Mang.

He says, "Despite Dr Mang's recent interview statements, I have not performed surgery on the patient he discussed for many years.

"At the time, I advised him (Jackson) against any further surgery. I have no firsthand knowledge about anything he has done more recently.

"In addition, I have never asked Dr Mang to consult, operate or assist me in the care of any of my patients.

"He has never operated in my Santa Monica clinic."

Jackson Celebrates 46th Birthday With Family. 30-08-'04

Despite his legal woes, Michael Jackson showed up at a family get-together Sunday (August 29) to celebrate his 46th birthday at Noe Restaurant, inside the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, reports People.

The celebration included his parents, Joseph and Katherine, as well as siblings Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Janet.

"It was a gathering of friends and family," said Brian Oxman, an attorney representing the star in his battle against child molestation charges in Santa Barbara County.

"It was very quiet and not a party," Oxman stressed. "These people are united. They care for each other, and you can't get that anywhere except with family and close friends."

In the celebration of Michael Jackson's 46th birthday the Jackson family meets up for a dinner party at the "Omni Hotel" in downtown LA.

Jackson, wearing a diamond-studded red shirt and black pants, arrived at the Omni in a white SUV with his three children: Prince Michael, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael II.

Janet, who wore a cream-colored top and large beach hat, dined along with other guests on an 11-course menu, including butternut squash soup.

On the legal front, things remain relatively quiet this week after pre-trial hearings last week and the announcement from Santa Barbara County sheriff Jim Anderson that he was vindicated by a state attorney general's report finding no evidence deputies and jail staff manhandled Jackson during his arrest last year. The star had told 60 Minutes that he had been handled roughly.

Jackson Defence Score Evidence Boost. 24-08-'04

Michael Jackson has been dealt a major boost ahead of his child molestation trial - the judge wants to throw out 70 items seized from the singer's home.

Judge Rodney Melville originally concluded police had "probable cause" to believe Jackson had committed a crime when they searched his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, last year (03). But he's now made a preliminary ruling that prosecutors will not be allowed to use 70 seized items as evidence against Michael.

Jackson's lawyers told the pre-trial hearing in Santa Maria, California, that police tried to search parts of Neverland Ranch not permitted by their warrant last November (03).

Police are known to have taken cameras, computers, documents, and video and audio tapes from Jackson's home.

Judge Melville has pledged to ban 70 out of 120 items of evidence Jackson's defence team wanted thrown out of the trial.

His trial is scheduled to start on 30 January (05).

Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville said he was "concerned" about 12 items taken during the Neverland search. He said none of his rulings was final and he would give the defense and prosecution the opportunity to present legal arguments in written briefs and at the next series of court hearings on Sept. 16 and 17.

He said the written briefs would be filed under seal to prevent publicity about them.

CourtJackson Tape Of Scared Child Played In Court. 24-08-'04

Prosecutors in Michael Jackson's child molestation case shocked a court in Santa Maria, California, yesterday (August 23) by playing a tape of a terrified child's voice.

Investigators found the tape during their raid on Jackson's Neverland Ranch home last November (03) and handed it over to District Attorney Tom Sneddon.

The short audio tape features a child talking on the phone as alarms are going off in the background. The tape cuts off after the child says, "I've got to go, somebody's coming."

Jackson is currently in the midst of a pretrial hearing as Judge Rodney Melville decides what evidence to allow into the trial proper in January (05).

Jackson Accuser's Mother Will Appear In Court. 23-08-'04

The mother of the boy accusing troubled pop superstar Michael Jackson of child molestation will take the stand in his trial, a judge has ordered.

Janet "Jackson" Arvizo - who shares the same moniker as Michael's sister - has been accused of lying under oath by the star's attorney Thomas Mesereau, who claims the allegations are part of an extortion campaign by the family.

Mesereau told the court, "We firmly believe that this woman lies under oath and does so repeatedly."

Judge Rodney Melville has ordered Janet to give her evidence in person during a pre-trial hearing on 17 September so the defence team can cross-examine her.

Her son Gavin - who is in remission after suffering cancer - is the boy at the centre of multiple allegations of molestation against Jackson, 45.

Jackson's Estate Manager: Police Ignored Warrant Boundaries. 23-08-'04

Michael Jackson's estate manager at his Neverland Ranch home has testified that investigators ignored warrant restrictions when they raided the estate last November (03).

Joseph Marcus took to the stand in court in Santa Maria, California, last Friday (August 20) as legal officials attempted to figure out whether district attorney investigators had acted illegally during their surprise raid on Neverland.

Marcus explained that sheriff's deputies looking for evidence in Jackson's child molestation case searched areas at Neverland that were not specified in a warrant.

Marcus admitted he initially co-operated with police, but soon grew suspicious when they insisted on searching his boss' office.

He told the court, "I worked with them all day. I co-operated and opened the door (to the office), but then they decided they wanted to do a search. I objected because it was not in the scope of the search warrant."

He recalled a deputy telling him that he would have the search warrant amended, but Marcus said that was not done, and the search went ahead. He added that he was also pressured to answer questions by authorities.

He continued, "I initially refused to and said I wasn't really interested. I said, 'Do I have to answer questions?' and they said, 'No, if you have nothing to hide.' I said there's nothing to hide here. It is what it is."

Friday's (August 20) testimony came at a pretrial hearing in which defence attorneys are trying to limit the evidence prosecutors can produce at the entertainer's January (05) trial. The pretrial hearing will continue today.

Man In The Mirror MovieMichael Jackson Attacks VH1 Film 'Man In The Mirror'. 20-08-'14

Michael Jackson has fired back at VH1 bosses for screening an unauthorised film about him and his family.

In 'Man In The Mirror', actor Flex Alexander plays Jackson in the biopic, which brings the pop star's life up to date with fictional footage of his Martin Bashir documentary and his child molestation allegations, for which he's currently on trial.

But Jackson is far from happy with the film, insisting it's nothing but pure fiction.

In a statement, he says, "The most recent unauthorized (sic) version of my life story, 'Man In The Mirror', in no way, shape, or form, represents who we are as a family.

"It is unfortunate that for years, we have been targets of completely inaccurate and false portrayals. We have watched as we have been vilified and humiliated.

"I, personally, have suffered through many hurtful lies and references to me as 'Jackson' as well as the latest untruth about me fathering quadruplets. This is intolerable and must stop.

"All I can hope for is that one day, my family will be shown the same kindness and respect that we have, throughout our lives, shown to others."

Statement Of Michael Jackson (August 10th), Approved By Judge Melville (August 16th). 20-08-'04

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson drafted a statement on August 10th, and it was sanctioned for release by Judge Rodney Melville on August 16th. The statement is below...

“My family and I have dedicated our lives to spreading unity and peace to the world through our music. The most recent unauthorized version of my life story, 'Man In The Mirror', in no way shape or form represents who we are as a family. It is unfortunate that for years, we have been targets of completely inaccurate and false portrayals. We have watched, as we have been vilified and humiliated. I personally, have suffered through many hurtful lies and references to me as ‘Wacko Jacko’ as well as the latest untruth about me fathering quadruplets.

“This is intolerable and must stop. The public depiction of us is not who we are, or what we are: we are a loving family. My success on stage can be attributed to the love and support of my family off stage. My brothers and I are ‘brothers’ first, we started out together and will always be together. All I can hope for is that one day, my family will be shown the same kindness and respect that we have, throughout our lives, shown to others.”

Jackson's Offer To Accuser's Family Exposed By Stepfather. 20-08-'04

The stepfather of the boy who has accused Michael Jackson of child molestation has testified he asked for payment to appear in a documentary about the troubled pop superstar.

The man, Major Jay Jackson identified in court yesterday (August 19) as MR Doe, claimed Jackson's aides approached his family and asked them to participate in a film that the pop star intended to release to improve his image after Martin Bashir's scathing 2003 documentary, 'Living With Michael Jackson'.

In his interview with Martin Bashir, Jackson infamously admitted he shared his bed with children.

The stepfather claims Jackson offered to buy the family a new home and set up a college education fund if they agreed to appear in a documentary aimed at presenting Jackson in a better light - after he presented him with an offer.

Mr Doe allegedly told Jackson, "This family has nothing and you're making millions from this and what are you going to do for this little family?"

Tatiana ThumbtzenFormer Jackson Dancer Tatiana Thumbtzen Tells All In New Book. 18-08-'04

A former dancer for the embattled star is writing a tell-all that she’s selling on the Internet. Tatiana Thumbtzen, who the singer pursued in his 'The Way You Make Me Feel' video and who toured with Jackson, has written 'The Way He Made Me Feel', which Jackson fans and foes can pre-order from her website.

Thumbtzen and Jackson made news in 1988, when, as one report at the time put it, Jackson “stunned concert fans by locking himself into his first public kiss” with Thumbzten. “I love her because she’s warm, caring and exciting,” he said at the time. She also accompanied Jackson to the Grammy's one year and according to one report, was represented by Jackson’s then-manager father, Joseph Jackson.

Thumbtzen couldn’t be reached for comment and Jackson’s rep didn’t return calls, but a source who knows the dancer told The Scoop, “They had a falling out over — depending on who you want to believe — money or one time when she tried to kiss him without his permission.”

Brian Oxman
Michael Jackson's defense attorney Brian Oxman.

Conflict Cited By Jackson Defense. 18-08-'04

A defense attorney dropped a bombshell during a pretrial hearing in the Michael Jackson case yesterday (August 17), saying the psychologist who elicited the molestation allegations from the pop star's young accuser was treating a private investigator dealing with the boy and his family on behalf of Jackson.

The revelation by Jackson lawyer Brian Oxman came during questioning of psychologist Stan Katz, who first notified police about the then-12-year-old's claims of sexual abuse.

Oxman called Katz's therapeutic involvement with both sides "a conflict of interest that is severe." Katz, however, kept citing the privilege and refused to say if Bradley Miller was a patient. Katz testified he interviewed Jackson's accuser after getting a call in May 2003 from Larry Feldman, the attorney who obtained a multimillion-dollar settlement on behalf of another alleged Jackson molestation victim in 1993.

Katz testified he had heard Miller's name mentioned twice: once by Feldman in June 2003 when the attorney said Miller had videotaped the boy and his family about Jackson and months later regarding a "break-in" on the news.

Suddenly, Oxman boomed: "Bradley Miller is a very special patient of yours, isn't he Dr. Katz?" Katz looked taken aback and answered, "If he was my patient, I couldn't discuss him." Oxman continued: "Bradley Miller is Dr. Katz's patient and he's been so for many years." Katz said he knew Miller "professionally," from family law cases the two had been involved in. Katz testified in the pretrial hearing during which the defense hopes to get evidence thrown out that was seized during a search of Miller's office.

Jackson's lawyers contend Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon and officers knew at the time Miller was employed by Jackson's former lawyer, Mark Geragos, and thus violated the attorney-client privilege.

As he peppered Katz with questions, Oxman suggested the psychologist knew so much about Miller, he must have been aware of the relationship with Geragos and must have informed authorities about it before last November's raid.

Katz denied he told law enforcement officials Miller worked for Geragos. Later in the day, Melville dealt the defense a blow when he ruled against their bid to challenge the legality of the search at Jackson's Neverland Ranch. The judge said the accuser's statement of being molested was a valid reason for authorities to raid Jackson's compound. The judge noted the defense could pursue a challenge of specific items taken in the search.

During Katz's testimony, the therapist acknowledged he ran into Miller on the street after the search and the investigator asked him, "Dr. Katz, you're not the psychologist on this, are you?" Katz said he told Miller he couldn't "comment on any of my cases," to which Oxman interjected: "Not even to your own clients?"

That final repeated reference to Miller as a "patient" or a "client" angered Melville, who had earlier ruled Oxman couldn't question Katz about privileged information. The judge then fined Oxman $1,000 and stormed off the bench.

Michael Jackson at CourthouseMichael Present During Hearing Of Tom Sneddon. 16-08-'04

Michael Jackson and family have arrived in court today to watch DA Tom Sneddon and others testify in court. Sneddon, always allowed to use the backdoor to enter the courthouse, arrived earlier today. Jackson would be severely undermined.

"It's a face off between Jackson and Sneddon," said Laurie Levenson, a Loyola University law professor and former federal prosecutor. "And emotionally, it's a big moment in the case.

About 200 fans gathered at the courthouse for their idol who arrived about 35 minutes ahead of the hearing.

Michael has announced himself around 07.00 PM by the Californian attorney Tom Sneddon who accused him of ten accusations of child molestation.

Michael denied everything and wants to prove together with his lawyers that the evidences are underground. The King of Pop claims that he's the victim of Sneddon's intrigue. The singer dressed in white three-piece suit was accompanied by his parents, his sisters LaToya and Janet and brother Jermaine. Lots of fans appeared before court of Santa Barbara.

The American are thinking that it goes about a part of a "PR-offensive". Properly he isn't obligatory to appear before Sneddon and yet he appeared Sunday (August 15) in public. He took part on a celebration in the First AME church in Los Angeles and spook afterwards with 35 students of a religious school. When a girl asked the singer if he would invite her on his Neverland Ranch in California, Michael Jackson (45) said: "you are always welcome".
