Stuart BackermanStuart Backerman Interview. 22-12-'04

Michael's former spokesman Stuart Backerman has been telling in an interview with 'Vancouver Sun' on December 18 about his activities for the 'King of Pop'. Backerman was telling that he has to reactivate Michael's career.

Soon after the broadcasting of 'Living With Michael Jackson' Backerman enlarged himself upon this and worked together on the realization of 'The Interview You Were Never Meant To See'.

After Jackson's arrest and the new accusations against the pop star in November 2003, Backerman was one of the most asking People around the world. His commission: Adjustment of claims and steadfast contact with the press. Yet a few months later he's given up his duty and leaves the Jackson camp.

Jackson's ranch "Neverland Valley" Backerman discribed it as the earthly paradise. Jackson himself he discribed as "friendly" and "immature". Backerman remembered himself that Michael only wanted to hear the good news.

About the accusations against his former employer Backerman is telling us this: "I've never seen something are go through something that should fasten these accusations. I'm totally sure that Michael is innocent. Yet this case will be good for Michael. Now he can proof the whole world that he's innocent."

Judge Rejects Delay In Michael Jackson Trial. 21-12-'04

A judge has denied a bid by Michael Jackson's lawyers to throw out the child molestation charges against the star and delay the start of his trial.

Jackson's legal team argued yesterday (December 20) that a grand jury indictment should be dismissed because of "outrageous government conduct" by the chief prosecutor, who they claimed was engaged in a personal witch hunt against Jackson.

The defense team also argued in a separate motion that they needed more time to go through some 22,000 pages of evidence.

Judge Rodney Melville, of Santa Maria Superior Court in California, rejected both arguments, saying a delay in the trial, scheduled for 31 January (05), would amount to "a huge step backwards".

He said, "If I continue this case for three months, we'll have 90 more search warrants and 90 more motions," adding that the court will begin summoning jurors next week (December 31).

Michael Jackson has extend yesterday (December 17) a hearty welcome to a group of about 200 children out of the social weak districts of Los Angeles on his Neverland Ranch. The 'King of Pop' has invited the children for a guided tour around his fairyland.

"I hope, that you will have a beautiful day. Happy New-year. I love you all." stated the 'King of Pop' to the crowd.
When one of the young guests answered Michael's speech with "We love you!", Jackson found the write answer with: "I love you more!".

During his short announcement to the children the singer laugh and waved to the visitors. When the car came to pick him up, he turned over once again. "It looks like he wanted to go back to the crowd of children to make some fun with them" wrote the AP. Jackson had to turn his back to them and was brought back to his territory by his co-workers.

Raymone K. Bain told the AP: "Mr Jackson is not always here. But he wanted to greet personal the latest group of children who will come to visit Neverland and wishes them pleasantly festivities."

To My Fans,

"Recently, there has been a rumor circulating where I am accused of bad-mouthing my fans.

I was deeply hurt when I heard about this. As an artist and performer, the most rewarding part of my work is to know that I have such loyal and supportive fans. I would never resort to any such negativity. Like so many other allegations, this is a lie. I love my fans and appreciate you all so much. I would never take that for granted.

You have my undying love, as always,

Debbie RoweJackson's Ex-Wife Debbie Rowe Asks Judge For Visitation Rights. 16-12-'04

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Deborah Rowe has gone to court in an attempt to gain visitation rights to their two children.

Rowe, whom Jackson married in 1996, gave up all parental rights in 2001 to their children, Prince Michael, eight, and Paris, six, but yesterday (December 15) she filed with the Superior Court in Los Angeles for the right to see them.

Jackson's attorney Thomas Hall says in the filing that he is preparing an appeal of a recent decision by a retired judge regarding the matter. Hall plans to file documents from the case into the court record and asks that they be sealed because they contain information about Jackson's assets and liabilities.

Reports that Rowe was considering filing for temporary exclusive custody of all three of Jackson's children - including Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, whom she says is not her child - surfaced in Britain earlier this year.

Rowe, who filed for divorce from Michael in 1999, reportedly felt that Jackson was an unfit father who deprives the children of a normal childhood. She also was said to be concerned that Jackson was exhibiting poor judgment, in reference to his statements about it being acceptable to sleep with children.

Judge Robert Schnider has adjourned the custody case until 2 February (05), three days after Jackson is scheduled to stand trial on child-molestation and conspiracy charges.

Jackson's Ex Wife Reportedly Subpoenaed. 16-12-'04

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Deborah Rowe has reportedly been subpoenaed to testify in the pop superstar's child-molestation case.

Jackson has pleaded not guilty to molestation accusation, as well as charges of conspiracy and administering an intoxicating agent to his alleged victim, a 12-year-old cancer sufferer.

And Rowe, mother of Jackson's oldest children Prince Michael, eight, and Paris, six, was served papers two weeks ago at her attorney's office by Santa Barbara Country district attorney Tom Sneddon, reports Fox News.

Rowe, who was married to Jackson from 1996 to 1999, is also keen to reverse a custody settlement she signed off on their two children. She now wants an active role in their lives.

According to Fox News, Jackson refused to give Rowe her annual $1 million alimony payment because he felt she breached the confidentiality clause in their divorce agreement by appearing on TV show Entertainment Tonight in a segment on her home and horses.

The $1 million was reportedly placed in escrow by Jackson.

Michael Jackson's Lawyers Ask For Delay Of Trial. 15-12-'04

Lawyers for pop star Michael Jackson have "reluctantly" asked a judge to delay his trial on child molestation charges saying that prosecutors have made it impossible to prepare a defense in time. Attorneys for Jackson said prosecutors have recently turned over 22,000 pages of discovery material that must be analyzed and supplied them with a witness list that includes people who don't exist.

They also argued, in court papers submitted Dec. 10 and made public today, that a raid on Jackson's Neverland Valley Ranch this month shows that prosecutors were still investigating the 46-year-old entertainer.

Lawyers for Jackson said they believed Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon was not prepared to go forward with a trial and may have conducted the search to force a delay.

"The defense is hesitant to, in essence, give the district attorney what he wanted by requesting a continuance,"Jackson's attorneys said in the court papers.

"However, given the facts articulated below, it has become clear that a continuance is necessary to protect Mr. Jackson's right to a fair trial."

Separately, Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville has ordered a member of Jackson's defense team to appear in his courtroom next week to explain why he should not be held in contempt of court for remarks he made to a New York newspaper.

Prosecutors asked that attorney Brian Oxman be held in contempt for speaking about the case to a reporter for the New York Post, which they claim is a violation of Melville's gag order in the case.

Melville has barred the parties from discussing the case in substance.

Jackson Lawyers Say Search Warrants Abused. 15-12-'04

Michael Jackson's lawyers want the singer's child molestation case dismissed, arguing that prosecutors have overstepped their bounds by abusing search warrants and unnecessarily raiding Jackson's Neverland Ranch this month. More than 100 search warrants have been executed in the case, defense attorneys said in a motion released Wednesday and scheduled for argument in hearings to begin Monday (December 20).

The motion asks the court to dismiss the case or delay the Jan. 31 trial date. The defense contends the unusual raids Dec. 3-4 at Jackson's Santa Barbara County estate were "clearly designed to shock and intimidate the defendant, his family and staff."

Michael Jackson Attorneys
Michael Jackson defense attorneys, Brian Oxman (C), Susan Yu (R) and Thomas Mesereau (L), depart the Santa Maria Courthouse.

The search warrant was issued Nov. 24 but authorities waited more than a week in an effort to disrupt defense preparations on the last business day before a court deadline, according to the defense motion. It also says Jackson has been singled out because he is a celebrity.

"No other person in the history of Santa Barbara has been treated this way," attorney Robert Sanger said in the filing. Jackson's attorneys said information gathered in the raids could have been requested through the court, noting "saliva is typically obtained" that way. Authorities have not revealed what they were looking for during the latest searches but a source close to the case told The Associated Press that Jackson voluntarily gave a DNA sample.

The 46-year-old entertainer has pleaded not guilty to charges of child molestation, conspiracy and administering an intoxicating agent, alcohol, to his alleged victim. Lawyers in the case are prohibited from speaking about it under the judge's strict gag order.

Jackson Lawyers Try To Get Charges Dropped. 14-12-'04

Lawyers representing troubled superstar Michael Jackson are trying to get child abuse charges against him dropped, on the grounds of "vindictive prosecution and outrageous government conduct".

Jackson's attorneys also want to delay the 31 January (05) trial date, when Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville wants jury selection to begin - and they will argue their case in hearings due to start next week (December 20).

They are angry about an unexpected search of Jackson's Neverland Ranch conducted earlier this month during which DNA samples were taken from the singer.

Jackson's legal team have asked Judge Melville to suppress all the evidence seized in that search.

Frank DileoFrank DiLeo Back On Board. 10-12-'04

With rumors swirling about prosecutorial evidence, DNA tests and financial ruin, Michael Jackson may finally be getting the picture of the state he's in.

His box set, 'The Ultimate Collection', has sold only 14,000 copies so far. You'd think this would jolt him into some kind of reality — and maybe it has.

I'm told that about three weeks ago, Jackson's ex-manager, Frank DiLeo, was summoned to Sony Music's inner sanctum to give advice about the box set and all future Jackson-Sony enterprises.

The meetings occurred around the time of the regular Sony-ATV Music Publishing board meeting. The attendees included DiLeo, Sony Music chief Donnie Ienner and Michael's sometime lawyer John Branca, who sits on the Sony-ATV board.

Branca probably looks like a genius now to Jackson's other lawyers, who are still owed fees by the singer. Branca collects a controversial, but automatic, 5 percent fee annually on Jackson's Beatles-catalog revenues, thanks to a deal he cut several years ago.

DiLeo was the true mastermind behind Jackson's King of Pop era in the early-to-mid-80's, engineering the process that made 'Thriller', 'Bad' and 'Dangerous' top sellers.

But by the time of Jackson's first child-molestation scandal in 1993, DiLeo was out in the cold. More recently, other Jackson associates from the period who had held on — Bob Jones, from public relations and Bill Bray, who did security — were pushed out as well.

If Jackson is acquitted of all charges in his upcoming trial, it's DiLeo who has the best shot of bringing him back.

I'm told he's already working on a Jackson brothers album and tour that would reunite Michael with the Jackson 5 and the era of pre-scandal innocence.

Of course, first Jackson has to be acquitted. And that won't be so easy.

Even now, Jackson's defense team is still lagging in interviewing witnesses and developing an iron-clad strategy for court, I am told by sources.

So far, the team has done more work talking to character witnesses who have no bearing on the case than to those who might have been eyewitnesses to the events being discussed.

Michael's BedroomNeverland Search Focused On DNA, Jackson Bedroom. 06-12-'04

Investigators in the child molestation case against Michael Jackson focused on "The King of Pop's" bedroom, seeking more DNA samples in two searches of the Neverland Ranch in a two-day period, sources told ABC News.

On Saturday (December 4), Jackson, with his attorney Thomas Mesereau present, voluntarily gave a DNA sample to authorities, submitting to a cotton swabbing of the inside of his cheek. The DNA sample could be use for comparison purposes by both the prosecution and defense at Jackson's trial.

Jackson, 46, is accused of molesting a now-14-year-old boy who spent time at his Neverland Ranch. The boy is believed to be a cancer survivor who appeared last year in the British documentary 'Living With Michael Jackson'.

Jackson has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges that include felony conspiracy with 28 overt acts involving child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.

Investigators searched Neverland both last Friday and Saturday, spending a total of 11 hours at the pop star's home. Santa Barbara County prosecutors had their detectives spend much of their time in Jackson's bedroom, sources who were on Jackson's estate this weekend told ABC News. Investigators brought in animation specialists to map out the bedroom area and the stairway next to it.

Site of the Alleged Crimes Investigators, sources said, focused on Jackson's bedroom because that is where at least some of the alleged acts of molestation occurred and it is the source of critical testimony from the younger brother of the alleged victim. At least twice, the alleged victim is said to have been abused by Jackson after being given alcohol and passing out from intoxication. The younger brother has told prosecutors that on one occasion, as he stood on the stairs outside Jackson's bedroom, he saw Jackson fondle the alleged victim.

Jackson's defense has challenged this testimony from his accuser's younger brother, saying that no molestation occurred. The defense says the boy's claims are untrue because his view from the stairs would have been blocked by boxes in Jackson's bedroom. This weekend, prosecution animation specialists hoped to gather enough information to create computer-generated sight lines of Jackson's bedroom and stairway that can be used in court at trial. "Where he [the alleged victim's younger brother] was positioned and what he saw -- whether he was in position to see what happened or not, are going to be critical pieces of evidence at this trial," said Court TV anchor Lisa Bloom.

Sheriff's deputies searching Neverland also sought more DNA samples. Jackson's estate was first searched in November 2003, shortly before he was charged in the molestation case, and investigators at that time found DNA belonging to three people, but none from the alleged victim. It is not known what, if anything, was found in the search over the weekend and everyone involved in the case is under a court-imposed gag order.

Sources told ABC News that Jackson's attorneys were angered over the searches and could file a complaint about the prosecution's tactics if investigators do not become less aggressive. The searches at Neverland came as both prosecutors and Jackson's defense attorneys face a deadline today to complete the case's discovery process, where both sides exchange evidence gathered during pretrial investigations. Jury selection in Jackson's trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 31.

Jackson's Ranch Searched. 03-12-'04

Police investigating child sex charges against pop star Michael Jackson have raided his Neverland Ranch in the US.
Investigators spent more than eight hours searching the estate in the hills above Santa Barbara in California.

The raid came a year after the property was first searched and days before a deadline for prosecutors to share evidence with the defence team.

Mr Jackson, who denies 10 charges of child molestation and conspiracy, is due to go on trial early next year.

Investigators served a search warrant on Neverland at about 0900 (1700 GMT) on Friday (December 3) "as part of an ongoing criminal investigation", sheriff spokesman Sergeant Chris Pappas said.

No further information was released. Lawyers on both sides are barred from commenting publicly.

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Valley Ranch – 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, California.

Neverland, about 100 miles (160km) northwest of Los Angeles, was first searched in November 2003.

Mr Jackson has pleaded not guilty to four counts of lewd acts involving a minor, one count involving an attempted lewd act upon a child and four counts of administering alcohol.

He has also pleaded not guilty to one charge of conspiracy to abduct a child, which includes allegations of false imprisonment and extortion.

The 46-year-old star is free on $3m (£1.5m) bail. Jury selection is due to begin on 31 January, but the trial proper may not get under way for months after that.

Accuser's Mother Suffering From Paranoid Schizophrenia? 03-12-'04

Jackson's defense team told Fox News that they believe Friday's search stemmed from new information from the accuser's mother Janet Arvizo, and that they might be looking for DNA. Investigators previously found the DNA of three other people on Jackson's bed, rather than the accuser's DNA, and the defense is suggesting it may be tied to this.

Defense officials also suggested that the accuser's mother is now "coming up with new information" after it was revealed this week that she had paranoid schizophrenia, and that this is her payback for that information leaking out to the press.[/b] But prosecution sources told Fox News that in the last week or two, at least one person close to Jackson is now talking to authorities and "providing valuable information."

Fox News has learned that in this same time period, authorities reached out to several people, including possible unindicted co-conspirators in the case, offering them deals if they cooperate. Additionally, prosecution sources told Fox News that there were some discussions with the Jackson team in recent weeks about Jackson receiving probation, registering as a sex offender, being monitored with his own children and staying away from others in exchange for no jail time.

The sources said Jackson's team was not receptive to this. One key member of Jackson's defense team told Fox News: "If a paranoid schizophrenic accused you of this, would you accept any deal?"
