The Essential Michael Jackson CD Album CoverUS Fans Shun Michael Jackson CD. 30-07-'05

Michael Jackson's latest greatest hits album has sold just 8,000 copies in the US in its first week of release, reaching number 128 in the chart.

'The Essential Michael Jackson' is the star's first release since he was cleared of child abuse a month ago.

Jackson's two-disc set went straight to number two in the UK - but he failed to match that success in his home country.

The number one US album, multi-artist compilation CD Now 19, sold 436,000 copies in its first week.

Jackson faces a struggle to repair his image and repay debts that prosecutors in his trial claimed amounted to $300m (£170m).

British public relations supremo Max Clifford has revealed he turned down a request to represent the singer after his trial.

"He came to me a month ago and I turned him down," Mr Clifford said.

"It would be the hardest job in PR after Saddam Hussein and I would be astounded if he could turn things around.

"People were extremely offended by even some of the things he admitted in court.

Record sales:
"The final judgement is with the record buying public and they have made their verdict clear."

Jackson has sold more than 135 million albums during his career, including 60 million copies of 'Thriller'.

His last original album, 'Invincible', sold 2 million copies when it came out in 2001.

'The Essential Michael Jackson' is the latest in a string of greatest hits packages that has also included 'HIStory', 'Number Ones' and 'The Ultimate Collection'.

Jackson Hospitalised After Trial: Lawyer Thomas Mesereau Told BBC Radio. 27-07-'05

Thomas MesereauMichael Jackson went to hospital suffering from dehydration and weight loss after jurors acquitted the singer of child molestation last month, his lawyer said on Tuesday (July 26).

"Michael Jackson was ill from time to time. In fact, people didn't realise he actually entered the hospital after the verdict," Jackson's lawyer Thomas Mesereau told BBC radio in an interview.

"He was dehydrated, he had lost a tremendous amount of weight, he was having trouble keeping food down, he was terrified about what was going happen to his children and he had a recurring back problem," he added.

The child star turned superstar, whose 'Thriller' album made him one of the world's best known entertainers, was visibly weak at the end of his four-month trial and his family said he had gone to bed after the verdict.

Mesereau said he had not spoken to Jackson in the last few weeks although the two had been in touch after the trial.

Jackson was acquitted last month of molesting a 13-year-old boy in 2003 as well as plying him with alcohol and conspiring to abduct the boy.

The singer faced nearly 20 years in prison if convicted.

Although cleared, music industry experts have questioned how the formerly unstoppable superstar can rebuild his career and work his way out of deep debt.

Mesereau insisted Jackson would not settle out of court if further allegations were made against him.

"I am concerned because he is a perpetual target. There still is a perception among some people that he ... doesn't want to go to court and will settle," said Mesereau. "We will be fighting any of these suits all the way if they happen."

Jackson's success as a pop singer had faded even before the trial as he became more reclusive and the media turned its attention to his dramatic physical changes and eccentric lifestyle.

Mesereau said he hoped nobody entered Jackson's home to spend the night to avoid future false claims.

"I advised Mr Jackson not to let any families in his home again," said the lawyer.

According to rumours is Michael's weight only 43 kilo since the process. Let's hope Michael will soon be better, in every way we'll keep our fingers crossed for him.

MJ TrialCost Of Jackson Trial Close To $3 Million. 26-06-'05

Michael Jackson's high-profile child molestation trial has left taxpayers in California's Santa Barbara County with a bill of $2.7 million.

Most of the money went to sheriff's deputies who were posted at the Santa Maria courthouse from January, when pretrial hearings began, up until last month (June), when the 14-week trial came to an end with Jackson found not guilty.

A substantial amount of the money was also used for crowd control.

But the bill is facing the possibility of rising even higher, according to the county's business manager, who explains that the current tally does not included prosecution, investigative and grand jury expenses.

On 13 June, Michael Jackson was cleared of 10 charges of child molestation and conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.

Michael JacksonMichael Mental Distracted. 25-07-'05

Michael Jackson is "distracted" by the process which was served fourteen weeks against him. That told Jermaine Jackson, the brother of Michael. "This case has mental distracted him. He's very strong, but needs his rest very hardly now." The pop singer was been acquitted from the accusations of sexual abuse of a minor boy.

According to rumours Michael weights only 43 kilo since the process and hasn't left Neverland any more. "He doesn't go whistled through life", said his brother. Even stronger, he's so 'tired and broken', that he could not attend his father's birthday party. He celebrated this weekend his 76th birthday in a hotel in the outside quarter of the German capital Berlin.

Michael writes on his website that he has regret that he could not be there. German Jackson-fans have expected him on the party and were waiting before the hotel to catch a glimpse of their idol. Apart from that was Michael not the only Jackson-descendant who made default. Sisters Janet and LaToya weren't there no more.

Michael JacksonMichael Wants To Move To Berlin. 21-07-'05

Michael Jackson wants to move to Berlin because he has fallen in love with the city, his father Joe told Germany’s Bild newspaper.

The mass-circulation paper and several German dailies said the US pop star, who dangled his baby from the railing of a fourth-floor hotel window on a 2002 visit, was fond of Berlin’s zoo, the beauty of nearby Potsdam and supportive European fans.

"Michael Jackson is going to become a Berliner!" Bild wrote on top of its front page. "His father is already looking for a house. The King of Pop wants to move to Berlin -- his father tells Bild in an interview."

Joe Jackson told a news conference in Berlin on Wednesday (July 20) he planned to celebrate his 76th birthday in the German capital on Friday (July 22) with several of his children and 1,000 fans. He said he hoped Michael would come but was uncertain if he would attend.

Another German newspaper, Die Welt, quoted an adviser named Shawn Andrews as saying Jackson definitely wanted to move to Europe because he felt he was being poorly treated at home and that he was also suffering from the after-effects of his trial.

"Michael wants to move to Europe," Andrews said. "He is positive about that. He feels at home in Berlin."

"No one in Germany ever let him down during the trial,” he said. “Michael himself can’t explain why he’s fallen so deeply in love with Berlin."

Michael Gets His Personal Things Back. 22-07-'05

Michael Jackson gets his personal possessions back, they were used as proof in the lawsuit. Judge Rodney Melville has defined it Thursday (July 21).

Beneath the things are finding computers, books and magazines. All items which are not used as proof materials will be returned, said Melville. Things which were used may be investigated by the media before they will be returned.

Except the video tapes of Michael they are going straight to the Neverland Ranch, without been looking by the press.

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson Not Presented By Hearing. 21-07-'05

Michael Jackson and his lawyer were not appeared on the hearing on Wednesday (July 20) for a case against the singer of sexual intimidation.

According to Joseph T. Bartucci Jr. should Jackson allured him in 1984 to a limousine and there had made some sexual insinuations.

It is still unclear why the singer and his lawyer didn't come to the hearing. The spokesmen of the Jackson family says that the singer is innocent. "The accusations are false. This lawsuit is again a manner to take advantage of Michael."

The 46 year old singer is been acquitted of the sexual abuse of a 13 year old cancer patient on his Neverland Ranch.

Disc Two starts in 1987 with eight tracks from the underrated 'Bad', and its second half does the listener the handy service of compressing the second act of Michael Jackson's life story (a time when the tabloid headlines were overshadowing his increasingly formulaic music) into nine entirely respectable, if not earth-shattering, singles.

The Beatles CatalogueJackson Sued Over Beatles Breach. 12-07-'05

Michael Jackson was sued yesterday (July 11) by the Prescient Acquisition Group, after the singer failed to pay them $48 million in fees for recovering his stake in publishing rights for The Beatles' back catalogue.

The asset acquisition company told the District Court in Manhattan, New York that Michael approached them in November 2004 to secure refinancing of a staggering $272 million debt to the Bank of America.

Prescient thus secured $537 million for Jackson to clear his debt and buy the half of The Beatles legacy which he didn't already own.

The company claimed it was entitled to an immediate payment of $24.8 million - 9 per cent of the funds used to pay off the Bank of America debt and a $3.3 million advance to Jackson and his company MJ Publishing.

Prescient accused Jackson of breach of contract, on the grounds that it had honoured what was expected in a written contract, and insisting Jackson has no right to "retain the benefits of those services in equity and good conscience, without paying to Prescient an amount to be determined at trial."

Jackson Urged To Donate Live 8 Profits. 10-07-'05

Michael Jackson is being urged to donate his profits from the historic Live 8 concerts, which otherwise could clear much of his financial debt, to charity.

Michael who was acquitted of child molestation charges last month (June 13), owns the rights to all The Beatles songs.

Last weekend (July 2), former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney played 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', 'Get Back, 'Drive My Car', 'Helter Skelter', 'The Long And Winding Road' and 'Hey Jude' at the London leg of Live 8.

Since the concert, sales of Beatles songs have soared, with millions of fans downloading the live version of Sgt Pepper's which McCartney performed with U2.

Experts believe Jackson's profits from Live 8 could be enough to clear most of his considerable financial debt.

But yesterday (July 9), as bands across the world pledged all their profits from increased album sales and downloads to Live 8, Jackson was urged to give up any gains too.

A source says, "Even though the profits could be huge for Jackson, we hope he could give the money to Live 8."

Live 8
Live 8 was a string of benefit concerts that took place on 2 July, in the G8 states and in South Africa.

Jackson Offered To Do 'Men In Black' For Free. 10-07-'05

Michael Jackson offered to star in hit 1997 movie 'Men In Black' for free, until he realised it wasn't a heartwarming family tale, but a hard-hitting sci-fi action film.

The King of Pop approached director Barry Sonnenfeld with a view to making his big feature film debut, according to Jackson's former PR guru Bob Jones, who has written a new book with journalist Stacy Brown.

Brown reveals, "He didn't understand the concept of the movie and what's ironic is he did land a small cameo in Men In Black II but he didn't get the role he wanted.

"He offered to do it free if he could have Will Smith's role."

Bob JonesBob Jones Interview Over Controversial book. 08-07-'05

This summer is turning out to be a scorcher in the literary world… especially given the fact that two celebrity tell-all books just popped up at retail outlets last week, authored by "in-the-know" confidants of Black America’s rich and scandalous.

First up is the hotly anticipated tome, 'Michael Jackson: The Man Behind The Mask'), which has created pandemonium in media outlets across the globe with salacious stories about the recently acquitted King Of Pop. But, what makes this book even more of an item is the fact that it was written by Mr. Jackson’s long-time image builder Bob Jones –who up until recently—may have been one of the most respected public relations practitioners in the music business. Now that’s a story!

"What do you mean what was the motivation for me to pen this book project?," was the way Mr. Jones defensively responded to the first question during an candid conversation with "The RU Report" this week. “First of all,” he continued, "I didn’t have a confidentiality agreement. And after working 16 and a half years and being let go without any notice or vacation pay, or nothing of that nature, I decided that I would write a book and tell a side that the public didn’t know."

'Man Behind the Mask', which reportedly sold upwards to 25,000 copies since going on sale last week, provides an insider’s account behind the rumours, accusations, bedlam and mystery surrounding the beleaguered entertainment legend.

"What was my reason to defend him anymore?," the sixty-something year old Fort Worth Texas native asked regarding the rationale for penning the expose. "I had been as loyal as you could be… Loyalty goes both ways."

Mr. Jones, a legend in his own right, has quite a history himself. He helped guide Mr. Jackson’s public relations image for more than three decades. The former journalist-cum-Motown Records staffer told us that he’s the one that christened the musician as "The King Of Pop."

He served Executive Vice President of Mr. Jackson’s entertainment company, MJJ. Having worked with him both as a solo artist and as a member of the Jackson 5, Mr. Jones has been the most visible and well-known representative for the superstar throughout his career. Because of their long-standing relationship, Mr. Jones is in the unique position of being able to offer a comprehensively revealing look behind the scenes and into the truth of what goes on in and around the infamous Neverland Ranch.

Michael JacksonWhere Is Michael? 01-07-'05

Since the June 13th vindication, many media outlets have chosen to speculate as to where Michael could now be.

According to the Associated Press, Michael has flown to Bahrain. An un-named official apparently close to the royal circle there said that he flew in from Europe for an indefinite visit. The official stated that during the private visit with his three children, Michael planned "to retreat and relax and enjoy the calmness of Bahrain."

The official said Jackson was a guest of Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the king's son, who is a friend of Jackson's brother Jermaine. He described the visit as "very, very private". It was not immediately clear if any of Jackson's family accompanied him on the trip.

If this is true, then where in Europe did Michael fly from to Bahrain in the first place? Well, according to the Daily Express, Michael has been in Paris apparently discussing a deal for a new positive documentary. Yet another un-named source said that Michael had met with documentary maker Mark Stewart, also son of F1 racing legend Jackie, on the 19th June while there. "They bumped into each other purely by chance," said the source, "Mark was astounded to learn that Michael was aware of his work and had seen one of the films. The impromptu meeting went very well and it is hoped that something positive will come of it."

Joseph Jackson has confirmed that his son is not at Neverland, but would not say much else when being interviewed by New York Daily News contributor Daphne Barak.
