Michael JacksonJackson Videos Among Top Sellers At iTunes. 31-10-'05

Apple on Monday announced that its customers at its iTunes Music Store has bought and downloaded more than one million videos in less than 20 days. Video content first appeared for purchase on October 12, 2005.

Although videos have been available for viewing and have been bundled with music purchases, Apple first began offering video content for purchase in mid-October, with the introduction of new 30GB and 60GB “fifth generation” iPods that can play back video as well.

Apple has over 2,000 music videos, short films from Pixar and TV shows available for purchase for US$1.99 each. Top draws at the store include music videos from Michael Jackson, Fatboy Slim and Kanye West, short features from Pixar including 'For The Birds' and 'Boundin' and episodes of ABC’s 'Lost' and 'Desperate Housewives'.

In a statement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the response to the video content suggests there is a market for legal video downloads.

“Our next challenge is to broaden our content offerings, so that customers can enjoy watching more videos on their computers and new iPods,” said Jobs.

Jackson's Ex Debbie Rowe Banned From Telling Kids She's Their Mother. 31-10-'05

Debbie RoweMichael Jackson's custody settlement with Debbie Rowe - the mother of two of his children - is so strict, she is reportedly forbidden from telling them she is their mother.

Rowe, who gave birth to Prince Michael I, eight, and seven-year-old Paris, gave the 'Thriller' singer a glowing reference as a father at his child molestation trial earlier this year.

But she is still allegedly subject to a one-sided secret agreement she made with Jackson, which gave him sole custody of their children, according to the New York Daily News.

A source tells the newspaper, "Debbie is not supposed to tell the kids she is their mother. That topic is off-limits. But it will be revisited when they are older."

Rowe had reportedly not seen her children for five years before an arranged meeting chaperoned by Jackson's nanny Grace Rwaeamba in a Los Angeles hotel in August reunited them.

The source continues, "(The children) handled it fine, but were a bit bewildered. Grace runs the show. She's the one Debbie will have to deal with."

Mother Of Jackson's Accuser In Court Over Fraud Charges. 29-10-'05

The mother of Michael Jackson's child molestation accuser rushed to court in her welfare fraud and perjury battle on Friday (October 28), after a Los Angeles judge demanded her presence.

Janet Arvizo rushed into Los Angeles Superior Court dressed in a tracksuit after a two-hour delay, after Judge David Horwitz demanded she attend the status hearing.

Janet, 37, pleaded not guilty last month (September) to allegations she collected $18,782 between November 2001 and March 2003 in welfare payment while making false claims she was struggling to live and support her children.

In the child molestation trial earlier this year, the star's lawyers presented evidence the Arvizo family had received a $150,000 settlement during a legal battle with department store chain JC Penney in 2001.

Michael's attorneys also displayed evidence Janet had been receiving funds from her now-husband US Army Major Jay Jackson to pay her rent.

On Friday, Janet remained silent in the courtroom as her lawyer secured the postponement until 19 December.

Michael was acquitted of all charges in June and is now living in Bahrain.

Michael JacksonJackson Charity Recording Underway in L.A. 27-10-'05

During the past two nights, recording has taken place at Los Angeles' Conway Studios for a Michael Jackson-penned single to benefit victims of the recent hurricanes, Billboard.com has learned. Although the song was originally titled 'From The Bottom Of My Heart', Jackson spokesperson Raymone Bain says the artist will unveil a new name for the track in the coming days.

Bain says that since early this month, Jackson "was in London tweaking the music as well as putting the finishing touches on it before sending it out to various artists" who he wanted to contribute. However, Jackson wound up rewriting the song, and as such, "he didn't need as many artists as he originally had planned for" when it came time to record.

Since a number of the acts were planning on being in Los Angeles this week for BET's 25th anniversary celebration, "he thought it was a good time to do the vocals," Bain says. Although she declined to name specific contributors, sources confirm Ciara, Snoop Dogg and Shirley Caesar have been on hand at Conway.

Jackson himself is not in Los Angeles and is understood to have participated in the sessions via satellite and phone.

"There are others who have to lay vocals well," Bain says. "[Jackson] plans on getting together with them for the chorus. We still have two to three more steps before the song will be ready for release."

Michael JacksonJackson Counter-Sues Former Aid Over Alleged Hidden Cash. 27-10-'05

Michael Jackson, emerging from the shadow of his child molestation trial, counter-sued a former aide for allegedly concealing and misappropriating more than one million dollars.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles marks the second salvo in a sudden flurry of legal activity by Jackson as he reemerges into public view following his acquittal on child sex charges in June.

Jackson, who is living in self-imposed exile in Bahrain, sued former associate Marc Schaffel, who testified for the prosecution at Jackson's child sex trial and who also has a career as a prolific producer of gay pornography.

Schaffel had sued Jackson in November 2004 seeking more than three million dollars in allegedly unpaid loans and other debts.

In his cross-complaint, Jackson contends that he entered into a written agreement with Schaffel in August 2001 to produce his song 'What More Can I Give?'

Schaffel also registered a business called Neverland Valley Entertainment, an apparent reference to Jackson's
Neverland Ranch.

The proceeds after expenses and a small royalty for Schaffel, who agreed to pay for all costs, were to go to charity, according to the cross-complaint.

But Schaffel failed to pay production costs, according to Jackson.

Jackson To Make Bahrain His Permanent Home. 21-10-'05

Michael Jackson has fallen in love with Bahrain after spending the summer in the Middle Eastern nation and now plans to make it his permanent home.

The King of Pop flew to Bahrain shortly after being acquitted of child molestation in a Santa Maria, California court and spent time there as a guest of the crown prince Sheik Salman Bin Hamed Khalifa.

And, after months of speculation suggesting Jackson is planning to sell his Neverland home in California, and make Bahrain his official headquarters, attorney Thomas Mesereau confirms his client is making a life-changing move.

He says, "He's moving on in life. He's living permanently in Bahrain. He has friends there who have been very loyal and helpful to him in a difficult period of his life."

Mesereau, who represented Jackson in his child molestation trial, insists the Middle East has been a tonic for the King of Pop.

He adds, "He looks really well."

Michael JacksonMichael Called Up Before Court As Juror. 20-10-'05

Four months after his acquittal of child abuse is Michael Jackson been called up to the court to reside in a jury, so has the BBC mentioned on Thursday.

Santa Barbara authorities have called Michael Jackson for jury service. He received a jury summons at his Neverland Valley Ranch.

Michael's lawyers have already filed paperwork for a deferment based on the fact that he is currently living in Bahrain. Lawyer Thomas Mesereau said on Wednesday: "He is permanently living outside of the United States.

The proper procedures are being followed."

People who deliberately avoid their civic duty may be found in contempt, fined up to $1,500 or even jailed. But jury commissioner Gary Blair said Michael Jackson likely will be excused from serving: "You're not legally supposed to exempt someone just because they're a celebrity. I summoned Ronald Reagan when he was president but granted him a deferment until he was out of office.

All he (Michael Jackson) has to do is show he has legal residency somewhere else and he'll be exempted. It's no big deal."

Santa Ynez Valley resident actress Bo Derek has received jury summonses at least twice and served on one jury. But the jury commissioner thinks the security surrounding President Reagan would have been a mess - as would another round with Mr. Jackson. Considering the media circus generated during his own trial, it's most likely that even the most innocuous of cases would bring an international spotlight to the Santa Maria courthouse again.

Laurie Levenson, a professor at Loyola School of Law who monitored Michael Jackson's own trial in Santa Maria, commented on the situation as follows: "I'm sure he'd receive a warm welcome from the District Attorney's Office.

This would give a new meaning to the phrase 'a jury of your peers,' This absolutely proves the system is random when it comes to selecting those who will receive jury summons.

It's just one of those ironies of life that he'd be called as a juror. But on a more serious note, if I were a criminal defendant, I'd welcome him with open arms. He's been through the system, and I'm sure he appreciates the presumption of innocence more than any other person who might be called for jury service."

'From The Bottom Of My Heart' Update. 17-10-'05

It was supposed to become a great project, with a lot of artists. But it seems that it will stay just by a duet according to some sources.

Michael Jackson announced in September that he would recording a benefit single for the victims of the hurricane Katrina. The number called 'From The Bottom Of My Heart'. A whole wash-list should be cooperating. From Mariah Carey to R. Kelly.

Michael Jackson's spokeswoman, Raymone K. Bain, said last week that all questions will be answered in short order and sceptics will be proved wrong in response with the delayed Katrina single.

She said Jackson flew to London recently, where (between a visit to Madame Tussaud's' wax museum and the stage show of 'Billy Elliot') the 47-year-old star was in the studio recording for the song.

A photo hit the Internet showing the singer in an untouched red shirt, standing before a microphone and perusing sheet music. "When Mr. Jackson has completed this process, he will be sending the music to the artists," Bain said in an e-mail response to Los Angeles Times inquiries about the project status. "The next phase will be scheduling a recording date."

Pop legend Michael Jackson pleased the tourists in London for the second day running and caused pandemonium at Madame Tussaud's on Sunday evening.

The controversial singer was mobbed by fans at the world-famous attraction when he arrived with his three children.

Minders carried the star's young family - Prince Michael Jr, Prince Michael II (nicknamed Blanket) and Paris-Michael - from a people carrier with blacked out windows. As usual, their faces were covered.

Jackson, 47, wearing a black suit, matching shirt and dark glasses, then walked through a crowd of fans, shielding his eyes from camera flashes, and into the building.

Large numbers of staff from Madame Tussaud's were waiting inside the attraction to greet the singer.

Michael attends the 'Billy Elliot' musical in London's West EndMichael Jackson Fell In Crowd At The Victoria Theatre In London. 09-10-'05

Michael Jackson had been fallen yesterday (October 8) when he had been threatened by his fans at the Victoria theatre in London. The singer tried to get through the many people to find his way to the theatre, where he visited the theatre version of the movie 'Billy Elliot'.

The safeguarding of the theatre tried to make the way open for the 47 year old singer, so he can reached the front door of the theatre. Jackson fell in the middle of the crowd.

During the presentation Jackson mixed himself with the other visitors. According to visitors was the pop singer cheerful and laughed often. "He said us hello and there were many people around him. He was very nice to us. His children were also there", told a 47 year old eye-witness.

The pop singer was in the British capital city to record his benefit single for the victims of the hurricane Katrina. It isn't clear why Jackson has chosen the record studio in London for his project titled 'From The Bottom Of My Heart'. It was the first time since his acquittal in June that the King of Pop visited the British capital.

Jackson Spotted In London Hotel. 07-10-'05

Michael Jackson has been spotted in the Dorchester Hotel, London, meeting fans and posing for photographs. Mike Hollingsworth, who was organising a charity ball in the hotel, said he saw Jackson in the reception area.

“He was surrounded by a large group of people but it was unmistakably him. He spent several minutes meeting people and posing for photos. “He kept trying to cover his face but from what I could see he looked well.” Staff at the hotel denied he was staying there, despite several reported sightings.

It is believed this is the first time the artist has been in the UK since he was cleared of 10 charges of child abuse and plying a minor with alcohol in June. He is believed to be recording a charity song, 'From The Bottom Of My Heart', for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Paul McCartneyPaul McCartney Won't Buy Beatles Songs Back. 06-10-'05

According to (US) Rolling Stone Sir Paul McCartney will never buy back the rights to The Beatles songs from Michael Jackson, but he admits he hates paying to play songs he wrote.

Jackson snapped up the songs in 1985 behind McCartney's back, but is rumoured to be selling them to help clear debts.

But McCartney is reluctant to pay out for the songs, which will revert back to him soon anyway.

He says, "Bono rang me and said, 'Did you hear? He's selling the songs. You should buy them!' Everyone else thinks I should too. But the thing is, I do get some cash from the publishing already. And in a few years more of the rights will be automatically be reverting to me.

"The only annoying thing is, when I tour America I have to pay to play some of my own songs. But I don't think about that. Because if I did, it would be just too annoying."

Jackson Sues Promoter. 04-10-'05

Pop superstar Michael Jackson took legal action against gig promoter Marcel Avram yesterday (October 3) to prevent arbitration over concerts scheduled to take place in 1999.

Jackson's production firm MJ Company testified in a $21 million lawsuit in 2002, which had been brought against him by Avram, who accused Michael of failing to perform two shows on New Year's Eve 1999. Jackson was ordered to pay Avram $5.3 million in March 2003.

Both Avram and Jackson later reached a settlement agreement which resolved existing and future claims related to the gigs, but Avram has allegedly moved forward with arbitration.

A hearing at Santa Barbara, California court, has been scheduled for 24 October.
