Michael JacksonJackson Meets Disney Children Cast. 30-01-'07

The stars of High School Musical, the über-successful Disney Channel movie, took their show on the road and toured across the U.S. (minus Zac Efron, who was filming Hairspray with John Travolta), finishing up in L.A. at the Staples Center last Monday night. And it seems the cast had a very special surprise visitor during their Vegas stint Sunday (January 28).

Michael Jackson requested to meet the High School brood personally, and even brought his three rarely seen tykes along! I’m told security was super heavy as Michael & Co .entered the building.

"He was taller than expected, really soft-spoken and wore sunglasses the whole time," Jackson acted like the light was bothering him, but he told [the cast] he and the kids loved the show."

Yep, not only did Mikey do a meet 'n' greet with the stunned cast, he stayed for the show. Evidently, they turned the light box at the Thomas & Mack Center into VIP seating with a canopy to protect the Jackson crew from any curiouslooky-loo audience members.

Jermaine JacksonJermaine Jackson Wants Michael To Become A Muslim. 30-01-'07

Michael Jackson is considering converting to Islam, after his brother Jermaine convinced him the religion will change his life for the better. Jermaine credits his faith with helping him cope on British reality show Celebrity Big Brother.

The 52-year-old says, "If I didn't have Allah and my prayer rug, I would not have survived, and the reason why is because it kept me focused, it kept me calm."Michael, I feel, needs to become a Muslim because I think it's a great protection for him from all the things that he's been attacked with, which are false.

There's a strength and a protection there."I brought him a lot of books, and he reads everything and he reads a lot."I think he's probably given it serious thought because he's spent a lot of time in Bahrain. I was the reason why he had gone there because I wanted him to get out of America and just go somewhere peaceful and quiet, where people pray five times a day. It's a beautiful thing."

Michael JacksonJackson Glued To Celebrity Big Brother. 28-01-'07

Michael Jackson is addicted to watching his brother Jermaine's antics on British reality show Celebrity Big Brother, according to his friend David Gest.

Jermaine has wowed British audiences with his laid back style and easy going charm since going into the house earlier this month (January 7) - and Gest says that Michael is hoping his brother wins in tonight's televised final.

Gest himself became a reality TV star after appearing in the British I'm a celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! late last year (06). He says, "Jermaine's doing brilliantly. Michael is in Ireland and he's glued to the show."He thinks it's hilarious that Jermaine is in the Big Brother house. He can't believe that he agreed to take part and was like that with me too."But he thinks Jermaine is doing very well. He's very proud."

XtraJetMan Guilty In Jackson Case Living It Up. 27-01-'07

–A businessman sentenced to home detention for conspiring to illegally videotape Michael Jackson is doing his time in an especially sweet home: the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey.

Jeffrey Borer, sentenced in October for conspiring to sell a videotape of Jackson in 2003 when the pop singer was facing child molestation charges, has been living at the hotel with his wife.

He is paying his debt to society with access to a harbor-side pool and restaurant, two tennis courts and a spa.

Lloyd Kirschbaum, Borer's attorney in an ongoing civil case, said Borer was being detained at the hotel for six months at his own expense because his Marina del Rey house was infested with mold, to which his wife is allergic. "It's all squared away with the probation department," Kirschbaum said.
Kirschbaum said Borer was unavailable for comment.

Borer, owner of the Santa Monica charter jet company XtraJet, and Arvell Jett Reeves, owner of a Chino aircraft maintenance firm, installed video cameras in one of Borer's Gulfstream jets. The cameras were used to videotape Jackson and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, on a flight from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara in the midst of Jackson's molestation trial. Jackson was later acquitted.

The videotapes came to light when Fox News reported in 2003 that a private party had offered to sell them to the network.

Borer, 62, pleaded guilty in March to the federal charges.

Federal probation officials declined to comment on Borer's detention. But Daniel N. Shallman, the federal prosecutor in Borer's case, called the hotel stay outrageous.

"When someone is sentenced to electronic monitoring, normally the presumption is he's not going to be holed up in a four-star hotel," Shallman said.

Actually, the Marina del Rey Ritz is a AAA Five-Diamond hotel, one of only seven in the Los Angeles area with that distinction. Only 93 hotels out of 60,000 visited by Auto Club officials in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean earn five diamonds, said Marie Montgomery, a spokeswoman for the Automobile Club of Southern California.

Five-diamond properties are required to include such amenities as a fax machine in the room, a scale, an illuminated makeup mirror, two robes, two pairs of slippers and a minimum of 10 clothes hangers, Montgomery said.

Should Borer need any personal items, the hotel's gift shop is stocked with such things as hand-embroidered silk shirts at $135 each.

Borer faces a civil suit from Geragos, who said the videotaping violated attorney-client privilege. A ruling on that case is pending from Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Soussan Bruguera.

Michael JacksonJackson Returns To Us. 26-01-'07

Michael Jackson has ended his self-imposed exile and set up a new home in America - 19 months after he left following his acquittal on child molestation charges. The superstar has lived a mythical existence since departing the US, spending time in Bahrain, Japan, England and Ireland.

Jackson returned to the US to attend James Brown's funeral (December 30, 2006) and his spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain has confirmed the star is sticking around and planning a comeback.

In a conference call with Jackson, Bain said, "I can confirm that he is in the United States. We don't give out information regarding our client's whereabouts because of safety, and this is just an ongoing policy."The singer also revealed plans to begin his music comeback at two fan appreciation events in Tokyo, Japan. He said, "My friends and fans in Japan have been so supportive of me and my family for many, many years. My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry."

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson Thanks Fans Through MJJForum. 24-01-'07

The second news story tonight out of MJJForum involves the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, placing very important calls to MJJForum president Trish Brown and Paul Akinbanjo from MJNO thanking them for their support. According to news posted at their websites, the superstar wanted everyone to know how much he appreciates and loves his fans. He shared with them that he is working on “wonderful new things” for the future. The pair also let him know how excited the fan community is to hear from him and how much he is adored. From MJJF:

Paul Akinbanjo and Patricia Brown (of MJNO and MJJF) received separate phone calls from Michael Jackson tonight. From Paul & Trish: Michael is in Vegas at the moment, and wanted to let everyone know how much he appreciates, and loves you all, and wanted to say that he’s working on “wonderful new things”, and that a lot of things are being put into place for his new company. We let him know how excited everyone is, and how much you all love him.

In response to a comment Paul made about how everyone loves the pizza he sends down to fans waiting outside his hotels, Michael said, “Aww, I always feel so bad, they’re standing out there like that. So I say, ‘Let’s get everyone pizza!'” And to Trish, “Please tell the fans that I love them, and to hold on and not lose faith. I love them with all my heart.” Michael thanked us for doing what we do, and stated, “Thank you for keeping the legacy alive. Thank you from me and the family!”

We spoke with him for quite a while, each, but will not divulge the contents of those personal conversations. Michael apologises for what happened with the MJWMA Fan Party, but we ask that you please not ask about that at this time, as this is an issue in the process of finally being resolved.

Mark GeragosMark Geragos Testifies In Xtrajet Case. 24-01-'07

A former lawyer for Michael Jackson testified Tuesday (January 23) that he has felt compelled to take extraordinary measures to ensure discussions with his clients remain private since he and the singer were secretly videotaped aboard a private jet.
Attorney Mark Geragos, who was secretly videotaped with Jackson on a November 2003 flight from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara, where Jackson surrendered on child molestation charges, is suing the jet company XtraJet.

Jackson, who was initially a plaintiff in the civil lawsuit against XtraJet, later dropped out of the case. He was acquitted of the molestation charges in 2005.

Testifying in the non-jury trial, Geragos called the taping one of the worst experiences of his 24-year legal career. He said he obtained a court order preventing XtraJet's then-owner, Jeffrey Borer, from selling the footage after learning of it through the news media.

"I can't think of any act more distressing to me at a professional level than what was done here," he said.
Geragos said he has taken extraordinary measures to protect his clients' privacy since the incident, including meeting with some under freeway overpasses and in hotel rooms. He said he twice sent a colleague overseas to discuss a case rather than have them discuss it over the phone or by e-mail.

Borer and co-defendant Arvel Jett Reeves pleaded guilty in 2005 to installing two digital video recorders to record "a professional entertainer" and his lawyer as the pair traveled by private jet.

Borer was sentenced in October to six months of home detention and three years' probation, and was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

Reeves was sentenced in July to eight months in prison, six additional months in a halfway house and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Reeves testified on a videotape shown in court Monday that no sound was recorded on the flight tapes.

Messages left after hours Tuesday with lawyers for Geragos and XtraJet were not immediately returned.

Opening statements began yesterday (January 22) in a non-jury trial involving a lawsuit filed by pop star Michael Jackson against a charter jet company.

Michael is suing Xtra Jet, alleging employees of the company secretly taped him and his attorney while they were on a flight to Santa Barbara, California in 2003. Jackson was flying from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara to surrender on child molestation charges.

The Essential Michael Jackson CD Album Cover'The Essential Michael Jackson' Album Back In UK RnB Top 40. 17-01-'07

'The Essential Michael Jackson' compilation CD album which was released in July 2005 has been back in the UK Top 40 RnB album charts for the past two weeks now.

The album has been in and out of the RnB chart since last November 2006 ever since the media storm surrounding Michael's appearance at the World Music Awards in London.

The album was at number 36 last week and is now sitting at number 40, although the album has not really made any significant impact on the charts since it got to number 2 on it's original release it still shows that people are still interested in Michael's music and since it's a compilation album it is probably people who haven't bought MJ albums before who are buying it.

Raymone K. BainStatement From Raymone K. Bain Regarding Lawsuit. 12-01-'07

As if we needed more proof that Jackson’s bills weren’t getting paid by the accountants who were in charge of handling his finances, word came today that a lawsuit was filed against Jackson resulting from such neglect. Almost as quickly, a statement came from Jackson’s team confirming that the issue has already been resolved.

Michael Jackson's spokesperson, Raymone K. Bain, has released the following statement regarding recent reports of lawsuit filed against him.

Regarding your inquiries about an action filed by G&J Gross, Inc., DBA Mikey Fine Pharmacy against Michael Jackson: the issue has been amicably resolved. Mikey Fine Pharmacy has been paid.

Stars Who Invent Unveiled On New Search Facility. 09-01-'07

Michael Jackson, Eddie Van Halen and Marlon Brando were yesterday (January 8) revealed to have all patented inventions, after a new online search facility launched. Internet users can now look on website Google to see the seven million inventions filed with the US Patents Office between 1790 and 1996.

In 1992, Jackson designed a pair of shoes with heels that latched onto knobs, allowing him to lean at extreme angles onstage without falling over. Van Halen designed a "musical instrument support" in the mid-1980's, on which he could rest his guitar and play it horizontally. Late actor Brando patented a device allowing the user to tighten the skin on a bongo drum.

And Trading Places star Jamie Lee Curtis designed a special nappy with a waterproof pocket where parents can store disposable wipes.

On Michael Jackson Book Cover'On Michael Jackson' Book Is Released. 09-01-'07

The book 'On Michael Jackson' is released in the USA by publisher Vintage Books.

Michael Jackson was once universally acclaimed as a song-and-dance man of genius; Wacko Jacko is now, more often than not, dismissed for his bizarre race and gender transformations and confounding antics, even as he is commonly reviled for the child molestation charges twice brought against him. Whence the weirdness and alleged criminality? How to account for Michael Jackson's rise and fall? In 'On Michael Jackson --an at once passionate, incisive, and bracing work of cultural analysis--Pulitzer Prize-winning critic for The New York Times Margo Jefferson brilliantly unravels the complexities of one of the most enigmatic figures of our time.

Who is Michael Jackson and what does it mean to call him a "What Is It"? What do P. T. Barnum, Peter Pan, and Edgar Allan Poe have to do with our fascination with Jackson? How did his curious Victorian upbringing and his tenure as a child prodigy on the "chitlin' circuit" inform his character and multiplicity of selves? How is Michael Jackson's celebrity related to the outrageous popularity of nineteenth-century minstrelsy? What is the perverse appeal of child stars for grown-ups and what is the price of such stardom for these children and for us? What uncanniness provoked Michael Jackson to become "Alone of All His Race, Alone of All Her Sex," while establishing himself as an undeniably great performer with neo-Gothic, dandy proclivities and a producer of visionary music videos? What do we find so unnerving about Michael Jackson's presumed monstrosity? In short, how are we all of us implicated?

In her stunning first book, Margo Jefferson gives us the incontrovertible lowdown on call-him-what-you-wish; she offers a powerful reckoning with a quintessential, richly allusive signifier of American society and popular culture.

Kenny OrtegaKing Of Pop Dines With Choreographer Kenny Ortega. 07-01-'07

Michael Jackson appears to be moving quickly with his comeback plans.

Jackson was spotted Friday (January 5) dining with Emmy-Award winning director/choreographer Kenny Ortega, who choreographed Jackson's last tour, almost a decade ago.

Jackson, who moved to Las Vegas two weeks ago after 16 months overseas, had dinner with Ortega in a private room at Wynn Las Vegas.

In another development, I learned Saturday that Jackson has reconciled with his parents, Las Vegas residents Joe and Katherine, after a long silence.

Joe Jackson confirmed by telephone on Saturday that "he made contact with me and his mother (Friday)." They had not communicated since Michael moved to Bahrain shortly after being acquitted of child molestation charges in California in May 2005.

The reconciliation is reported to have occurred after Joe and Katherine solicited Jack Wishna, a friend of the pop icon, to reopen the lines of communication.

Still under wraps is where Jackson wants to re launch his career.

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson Sued By TV Shop, Accountants. 05-01-'07

Two lawsuits against Michael Jackson might shed light on the pop star's money woes. The suits allege that he owes nearly $1 million to his former accountants and $100,000 to a company that installed TVs in his Neverland Ranch.

Both suits relate to Jackson's firing of Bernstein, Fox, Whitman, Goldman & Sloan as his accountants last summer. Jackson also has his own lawsuit pending against the Century City firm in which he alleges it withdrew $2.5 million from his accounts but failed to properly pay his bills.

Jackson owed Video & Audio Center $109,540.85 for the installation of TV equipment, according to Lawrence Segal, attorney for the company. Jackson paid $25,000 in June, and Bernstein Fox promised that the remainder would be paid by August 31.

Before that payment was made, however, Jackson fired Bernstein Fox. After promises were

"Payments have been promised for a while," he said. "We were forced to file."

Jackson's new representative cited "bad cash flow" as the reason for the late payments, Segal said. The representative identified by Segal did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

The suit filed by Bernstein Fox alleges that Jackson owes it $958,956.56 for managing his accounts -- including administering payroll for Jackson's companies and processing medical reimbursement claims for Jackson.

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson Settling Into Life In Las Vegas. 04-01-'07

Having moved into his new gated Spanish-styled Vegas mega-mansion pop-singer Michael Jackson is trying to settle into the normal life we locals lead here. Except, when Michael goes to the movies, he's got to take at least four burly bodyguards with him!!

My pal, gossip guru Norm Clarke reports that "the gloved one' went to my local neighborhood Brenden Theaters at the Palms movie theater to watch the Matt Damon CIA spy-thriller 'The Good Shepherd,' which I'd thoroughly enjoyed two nights earlier in the same spot. No word as to whether he buys tickets for all four of his security staff or they wait outside while he watched the near 3 hour flick. Earlier, Michael had jetted in from Augusta where he'd spoken at the funeral tribute to singer James Brown.

Jackson, who is rumored to be negotiating a gig on the Strip, returned to the same theater the next night to watch Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto,' even paying for his own ticket. He just missed Mario Lopez ('Dancing with the Stars'), who took in the last show of 'Night at the Museum' in IMAX, and pop-star Pink, with stunt man husband Cary Hart, who were there for Will Smith's 'The Pursuit of Happyness' the day after New Year's. It was almost celebrity box-office gridlock!

will.i.amWill.i.am Working On Jackson Comeback Album. 02-01-'07

Black Eyed Peas principal will.i.am was ubiquitous behind the boards in 2006, producing tracks for Justin Timberlake, Fergie, Snoop Dogg and Nas and earning a producer of the year Grammy nomination. But his sights are now set on Michael Jackson's comeback album, which is tentatively due before the end of the year on the Bahrain-based Two Seas Records.

Will.i.am tells Billboard.com he has been doing "a lot of talking on the phone, a lot of brainstorming" with Jackson so far. Their conversations, he says, involve more than just music but also figuring out how Jackson can use new technology, particularly social networking sites and download outlets, to his advantage.

But Jackson's next musical direction remains a primary concern. "Man, he still sings like a bird," will.i.am says. "He could go anywhere. I think we have a real opportunity to do something here. It's either gonna be really big or nobody's gonna care. Ain't no middle ground on this one."

"I like what he is doing and thought it would be interesting to collaborate or just see how the chemistry worked," Jackson told Access Hollywood of will.i.am in October. "I think he's doing wonderful, innovative, positive, great music."

As previously reported, Akon is also rumored to be collaborating on the album but told Billboard.com last month that he was not at liberty to disclose details. Chris Brown is also in talks to work on the Jackson album, which will be his first since 2001's 'Invincible'.

"We got a chance to meet at the World Music Awards and we're talking to his management about when we can set up a date to be working on his album," Brown tells Billboard.com. "It would be an honor and a blessing for me to work with my idol. He's one of the reasons I do my music."
