Hospital Lawsuit Dropped. 25-09-'08

The lawsuit filed against Marian Medical Center alleging intentional infliction of emotional and mental distress and elder abuse related to a visit by superstar Michael Jackson to the hospital has been dismissed.

The suit was filed in Santa Barbara County Superior Court in Santa Maria in February 2007 by the family of Manuela Gomez Ruiz of Santa Maria, who died at the hospital in February 2005 at the age of 73. Michael Jackson was originally named in the suit as well however, in April, Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville removed Jackson as a defendant.

According to the complaint filed by the plaintiffs, the hospital moved Ruiz while she was being treated to make space for Jackson to be examined. Jackson was brought to the hospital in 2005 while he was on trial for child molestation and other charges. Ruiz died at Marian Medical Center shortly after she was reportedly moved to another hospital room in order to give room to Jackson, who was ultimately found not guilty on all charges.

The plaintiffs in the case, together with their attorney James McKiernan, filed a request to dismiss the case on Aug. 19. A reason for the dismissal being sought was not listed in the court documents and McKiernan could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.

A trial date had been set for Oct. 27, but the civil clerk's office in Santa Maria reported that all future court appearances for the case have been cancelled.

Ne-Yo Talks About New Album Again. 25-09-'08

Before a gig at the Hammersmith Apollo, singer and songwriter Ne-Yo once again talked about the new Michael Jackson album for which he has also submitted several songs.

"Michael's new album has to be amazing. I've already submitted some songs but we have no idea when it's coming out. He keeps putting it off.
Michael is very nervous as he knows he's the underdog and people want him to fail.

It's tough when all eyes are on him and there is so much young competition out there.

This album needs to be better than Thriller. He wants killer melodies."

Ne-Yo also admitted that he was terrified when he first met Michael face to face:

"My hands were shaking like never before. But the great thing is that I get to work with my idol and he is really cool."

Bob Jones Died. 23-09-'08

Last Saturday, Bob Jones passed away. He suffered a heart attack after returning from a bike ride.

For many years Bob Jones ran the PR department of Motown. In 1987, he left the record label to work as Michael Jackson's publicist at MJJ Productions until 2004.

Bob Jones was Michael Jackson’s public relations chief for 34 years, as well as Executive Vice President of Jackson’s entertainment company. Having worked with Michael both as a solo artist and as a member of the Jackson 5, Bob Jones has been the most visible and well-known representative for Michael throughout his career.

He was also instrumental in creating Jackson’s contemporary persona, and was the first to dub Jackson the "King of Pop" in the early 90’s. Because of their long-standing relationship, Bob Jones is in the unique position of being able to offer an honest and comprehensive look behind the scenes and into the truth of what goes on at the Neverland ranch.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Jones' family.

Halloween Thriller Party. 19-09-'08

Northwest Film Forum (based in Seattle, Washington) will be holding a special "Halloween Thriller Party" on Halloween night, in celebration of 25 years of Thriller.

"Before you hit the Halloween parties, join us for a celebration of the epic music video that created a phenomenon and made Michael Jackson the 'King Of Pop!' It was 25 years ago that Jackson enlisted director John Landis to make the long-form horror-themed video for the title song of his record-breaking hit album. For this special event, we present a special screening of the classic video (featuring the best zombie choreography ever captured on film!) as well as the rarely seen hour-long TV special The Making Of Michael Jackson’s Thriller including behind-the-scenes footage (showing Jackson’s fascination with facial transformation), interviews with young fans ('He’s so sexy!'), and his other videos and performances. We’ll also have music and drinks in the cinema. Horror legend Vincent Price comments, 'no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller,' adding 'Aah ha ha ha ha ha ha... AAHH HA Ha ha ha... ' Be there!"

The event is scheduled to take place on October 31, 2008 between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Tickets for the general public cost $8.50 ($9.70 w/service fee) and seniors/kids can get in for $6.00 ($7.14 w/service fee). Existing NFF members can attend this event for free.

On a related note, Sony BMG advised MJJR.net several months ago that an official project or event (relating to Thriller 25) is also in the works for this Halloween. No additional details are yet available on this matter.

Michael Jackson Looking To Buy Island In Ireland? 12-09-'08

BillieJean.be is going to put this one down as a fully unsubstantiated rumor for the time being. A story which originates from Paul Martin of the Ireland Daily Mirror, and which has been circulating in numerous different forms across European media outlets for the past 24 hours, is suggesting that Michael Jackson is interested in purchasing Inishkeel Island which is near Donegal, in Ireland. According to Martin, assistants of Michael Jackson are believed to have communicated with estate agents about the property.

One source in the printed edition of The Daily Mirror states that "Michael Jackson is deadly serious and has always wanted to own land in Ireland. He has an idea that it would be a perfect place for him to start an organic farm and also a great hideaway to take his kids on trips. It's completely surrounded by water and has breathtaking views of the Donegal coast so Michael is completely in love with the idea."

Last year, according to the paper, Michael Jackson stated: "I love the whole idea of living off the land in an organic way. I love everything about the place. I love the farming and the beautiful lush land. It's a truly magical place."

According the source: "Michael Jackson's people called this week and expressed their interest. He's obviously planning to come back to Ireland and likes the idea of having some land. He doesn't want to build a big home there, it's just somewhere to relax and get away from it all with his kids and maybe make a bit of money from the farming side of things."

The island is a tourist hotspot with tourists pouring in and out of the region for at least four hours every day. Recreational facilities including bars, a park, and a golf course are also close by. Paul Martin last speculated about Michael Jackson moving to Ireland in July of 2007.

The property is approximately 57 acres in size, and would cost a minimum of $560,000 to purchase.

Michael Jackson And Children Reportedly Visit Gary, Indiana. 11-09-'08

Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Michael Jackson, his three children, and a entourage of bodyguards and assistants, made an unannounced trip to Gary, Indiana on Tuesday September 9, 2008. Prior to driving through Gary to reflect on Jackson's early neighbourhood, the group allegedly stopped at the Gold Coast hotel in Chicago. The complete write-up is below:

It's all very mysterious, but I've learned Michael Jackson -- joined by a small (for him) retinue of bodyguards and assistants, plus his three children, Paris, Prince and Prince Michael II -- slipped into town Monday for a quick overnight stay.

A BZ spy at Jackson's exclusive Gold Coast hotel reports that the entourage ''did not venture out of their suites and only ordered basics like setups, hot water, milk and juice from room service.''

Apparently, the King of Pop travelled with his own organic food, plus bed linens and towels.

Unlike other visits by Jackson and his kids to various cities around the world, there wasn't even any shopping on this trip.

According to the source, Jackson & Co. left early Tuesday -- ''before the sun was up'' -- and reportedly drove (via several SUVs with blacked-out windows) to Gary. There MJ and his kids supposedly toured his childhood neighbourhood in the northwest Indiana city before flying out of the area via private jet.

There was apparently no contact with any Gary officials, so it's not known if Jackson's visit was related -- in any way -- to recent efforts to memorialize his family's origins in the city.

During a much-publicized visit to Gary by Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, in July, Mayor Rudy Clay presented him with the key to the city, unveiled plans for a proposed Jackson Museum and Cultural Center and unveiled a new street sign in honor of the Jackson family.

A month later, those plans were placed on hold, due to various financial issues -- mainly facing Michael and the other Jacksons. A family spokesman said at the time that the delay was only temporary and the Jackson museum in Gary ''is something that will happen.''

Maybe Michael Jackson's visit this week is a hopeful sign that it will occur -- perhaps sooner rather than later.

The preliminary plans exhibited back in July featured a project the city officials hoped would help jump-start renewal efforts in downtown Gary along Broadway.

Michael Jackson And Pamela Anderson Dating? 03-09-'08

Pop legend Michael, 50, has met former 'Baywatch' star Pammie, 41, for two dates in Malibu, California, sparking rumours the pair are enjoying a budding romance.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "It was all arranged by their people in total secrecy, very cloak and dagger. Michael is such a private person. He gets nervous when he thinks people are following him around, so he chose somewhere neutral for their first date.

"They arrived separately at the Shutters Hotel on Malibu beach so no one would suspect anything and then had a few drinks at the bar."

Michael and Pammie hid away in a corner of the bar for privacy, and appeared to be enjoying each other's company.

The source added: "They were very friendly. Pamela was being her usual flirty self and Michael seemed to be responding. They are such a strange couple but they seemed to really hit it off."

The pair got on so well on their first date, they have met up again already, going for a coffee at the Country Mart in Malibu.

Both Pammie and Michael have been unlucky with their previous marriages.
