Jackson's Estate Limits Access To Home Shared By Late Singer's Mom, Kids, Amid Family Feud.
31-07-'12

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Michael Jackson's estate has acknowledged that they limited access to the home shared by the late singer's mother and children in response to a driveway disturbance last week.

The estate's statement released Monday afternoon does not specify which members of Jackson's family are no longer allowed at the home but says the list is subject to change. The statement says an approved guest list was requested by an attorney for TJ Jackson, the son of Tito Jackson who was appointed temporary guardian of the children last week.

The statement was issued in response to an online report by journalist Roland Martin that states Jackson's siblings Randy, Janet and Jermaine have been blocked from visiting the home. The trio was present at a July 23 scuffle that remains under investigation.

Jackson Judge Orders Probe Into Children's Welfare. 28-07-'12

A judge on Friday ordered an investigation into the well-being of Michael Jackson's children and a lawyer for the family matriarch said she will move to share guardianship of the children with the adult son of Tito Jackson.

Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff told a court investigator to interview the three children independently and provide a report for review only by the judge, not attorneys involved in the case.

The order does not spell out a reason for the investigation, but it is likely intended to give the judge another perspective on how Jackson's children are coping after a week of family turmoil that included the absence of their grandmother and a dispute in the driveway of their home amid a feud over the estate of the pop superstar.

The court investigator was ordered to interview the children at school at a time to remain undisclosed. Beckloff received a similar report a few weeks after Jackson's death in 2009 and its contents remain sealed.

Beckloff said during a hearing earlier this week that there were no indications that Katherine Jackson had done anything wrong.

Under the proposed guardianship change, the 82-year-old Jackson would share oversight of the children with Tito Jackson's son in a deal that would relieve her of some of the day-to-day stresses of managing a famous family, her attorney Perry Sanders Jr. said.

The decision was made after a meeting between Katherine Jackson and Sanders on Thursday. He said Michael Jackson's eldest son has told attorneys he approves of the arrangement.

A formal filing for co-guardianship is expected next week. If approved, it would make Tito Joe "TJ" Jackson a co-guardian of the children — Prince, Paris and Blanket — who range in ages from 10 to 15.

TJ Jackson's attorneys suggest the co-guardianship arrangement in a filing Friday. It states that if either adult guardian dies or is unable to serve, the other will act alone in raising the children.

Under the plan, responsibility for managing staff and security at the home would shift to TJ Jackson. Katherine Jackson would keep control of a family allowance worth tens of thousands of dollars a month, Sanders said.

"Mrs. Jackson is extremely pleased with the prospect of enjoying the pleasure of raising Michael's children without the day-to-day tedium of items such as managing the large staff that goes with such a high-profile family and focus her attention on being a grandmother and raising Michael's children," Sanders wrote in a statement.

"She is eager to simply enjoy her great relationship with these children, while deeding over some of the stressors that go hand in hand with being a guardian," he wrote.

TJ Jackson, 34, is the children's first cousin and performs with his brothers in the group 3T.

Beckloff on Wednesday suspended Katherine Jackson's guardianship duties temporarily and appointed TJ Jackson as temporary guardian. The judge said he would likely re-instate Katherine Jackson as guardian upon her return.

Katherine Jackson had been at a Tucson, Ariz., spa since July 15 with her daughter Rebbie and other relatives and had not spoken to her grandchildren during that time. She returned to the Los Angeles area on Thursday.

"The minor children are very attached to (TJ Jackson) who has been very involved in their lives since the death of their father," TJ Jackson's attorneys wrote in the court filing. "Recent events have highlighted the need for continuity for the minor children."

The filing was required by Beckloff, but Sanders said it would be superseded by a joint petition next week.

Katherine Jackson Guardianship Ruling "BASED ON LIES". 25-07-'12

Katherine Jackson is challenging the court ruling that temporarily stripped her of guardianship of Michael Jackson's children -- and claiming she never wanted TJ Jackson to step into the role ... despite court documents stating otherwise.

In a taped segment for ABC's "Nightline" ... Katherine read prepared comments from a notebook, and said -- "Their ruling in court today was about the guardianship, and I think it was based on a bunch of lies. But I have a good idea who's doing that ... who's behind it."

Katherine went on to say she spoke to TJ last night and "told him it wasn't necessary for him to go down and sign up for guardianship, but I don't know who instructed him to do that ... 'cause he wanted me to come home before that happened."

It's a strange statement because Katherine seems to be acknowledging she knew TJ was going to file for guardianship ... but not before she got home.

In fact, as we reported earlier, TJ stated in court docs that Katherine "supported" him taking steps to protect Michael's kids.

The whole TV segment seemed almost like a hostage situation as Katherine was surrounded by Janet, Jermaine, Rebbie, Rebbie's daughter and, for some reason, the marketing director for the Tucson spa where Katherine's been for more than a week. A local news reporter was in the room, but was not allowed to ask questions.

As for leaving Prince, Paris, and Blanket alone in L.A. -- Katherine claimed she left instructions about who was to take care of them while she was gone ... though she didn't name anyone specifically.

The 82-year old also said during her absence her assistant had been keeping in touch with her grandchildren -- and that she didn't personally call "because I just gave up my phone. I didn't want to have any phone calls."

Jackson Siblings Break Down. 24-07-'12

Jackson brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie sat down with The Insider's Kevin Frazier to talk about the current family drama playing out on the public stage.

When asked about the current whereabouts of their mother, Marlon Jackson said the recent explanations about her reported disappearance are "not good enough for me."

It seems that Michael's children are not the only Jackson family members being kept away from Katherine Jackson. Apparently, so are the siblings that did not sign the recent angry letter to the executors of Michael Jackson's estate, as Marlon explained, "We've been told that our mother is safe. She's doing well. But we have not spoken to her. We have not talked to her and I don't know where my mother is."

Marlon broke down during the interview and had to step away. Without implicating anyone involved, he said, "All I know is there's somebody who made the decision that my mother cannot talk to me, and whoever that person is, they've got to answer to me!"

Tito Jackson, who's name did appear on the letter to the estate, earlier told TMZ, "I completely retract my signature from the July 17th letter sent to the Executors of my brother Michael's estate and repudiate all the claims made against them."

He added, "I don't want any part of that letter whatsoever."

Letter From The Estate Of Michael Jackson. 24-07-'12

We thank the fans for their keen interest in the matters that have been reported on recently regarding the Estate and Mrs. Jackson.

We will not comment any further on the letter we received from certain of the Jackson siblings. We think our letter in response speaks for itself.

We are acutely concerned about the welfare of Mrs. Jackson, and most particularly with Michael’s minor children. We are concerned that we do what we can to protect them from undue influences, bullying, greed, and other unfortunate circumstances. While we do not have standing to directly intervene, we have monitored the situation and will continue to do so. We believe measures are being put in place that will help protect them from what they are having to deal with.

We take these matters very seriously and will continue to report on them as appropriate.

Sincerely,

John Branca
John McClain
Co-Executors

Katherine Jackson Reported Resting Under Doctor's Orders. 22-07-'12

Katherine Jackson is safe and resting with one of her daughters on doctor's orders, a person familiar with the situation has told the Associated Press.

The person, who was not authorized to speak publicly and asked to remain anonymous, said Sunday that the Jackson family matriarch is with her daughter Rebbie and has been prescribed rest by a physician.

The whereabouts of the 82-year-old's Jackson and her lack of communication with her grandchildren prompted a missing person report Saturday night. Sheriff's Department officials in Los Angeles later said they believed she was safe and with family in Arizona but had yet to speak with her.

Katherine Jackson serves as guardian of her son Michael's three children. Her granddaughter Paris Jackson issued a frantic plea on Twitter early Sunday.

"I haven't spoken with her in a week I want her home now," she tweeted.

The family drama unfolded days after it was revealed that some of Katherine Jackson's children had written a letter to the executors of Michael Jackson's estate, alleging his will, which left his fortune to his children, his mother and charity, was a fake.

The undated letter, signed by Janet, Randy, Tito, Rebbie and Jermaine Jackson, claimed Katherine Jackson was being manipulated by the executors, John Branca and John McClain, her health had been affected, and that she suffered a mini-stroke.

The estate has denied the accusations.

Katherine Jackson MIA: Michael Jackson's Kid's Guardian Separated From Grand Kids

Since the middle of the night, Paris Jackson, whip-smart 14 year old, has been Tweeting that her grandmother and guardian, Katherine Jackson, is not home. Paris says she has not spoken to her grandmother in a week. Mrs, Jackson is the legal guardian of three minor children including Paris–her brothers Prince, 15, and Blanket, 10. If she has not been home for a week in Calabasas, California, then who is taking care of these children?

Jermaine Jackson has Tweeted that his mother is getting rest in Arizona, and nothing is wrong. But something is very very wrong if a 14 year old girl has to resort to Twitter to alert the world that her beloved grandmother and guardian is AWOL. The Jackson kids have lawyers and a court appointed guardian, as well. Plus, the Jackson estate should be concerned that one of their heirs is unaccounted for.

What makes all of this so suspicious is that it comes at the end of several days of infighting among the Jacksons. For years Michael Jackson used to give his mother chunks of money which she disbursed to his siblings who needed it. But since Michael died, the money is controlled by the executors of his estate. The executors must account for this money to the probate court. The gravy train for the Jackson family ended on June 25, 2009 when Michael died. Now they scramble to earn a living. There is grave concern that the siblings are pressuring Mrs. Jackson to turn against the executors, or gain conservatorship over her.

Michael’s children are not stupid. They can read the internet. By now they know that uncles Jermaine and Randy are not so interested in them. They are interested in their own futures. But I doubt scaring Paris Jackson and mobilizing her to this point will ingratiate the brothers with Michael’s kids. Let’s hope Katherine Jackson is returned to her home pronto, and that the lawyers and others representing the kids can prevent this from happening again.

Randy, Jermaine Jackson Plot To Get MJ's $$$ ... Allegedly. 20-07-'12

Randy and Jermaine Jackson are trying to get at Michael Jackson's money, by hatching a sinister plot involving Katherine Jackson ... so claim sources connected with the Michael Jackson Estate.

Randy, Jermaine, Janet, Tito and Rebbie Jackson all signed a letter, demanding that the Executors of the MJ Estate step down, claiming the executors are failing so badly, the stress caused Katherine to suffer a stroke.

Sources connected with the Estate are now lashing back, telling TMZ they believe Randy and Jermaine (they are not including the others) are strapped for cash and know when Katherine dies there is no way they can get their hands on a penny of MJ's fortune -- that's because all of the money goes to charity and in trust for Michael's 3 kids.

Our sources believe ... Randy and Jermaine are trying to make it appear that Katherine is infirm and may need a conservator ship. And the sources further believe Randy and Jermaine will try and get themselves appointed as her conservators, which would give them access to more than $70,000 a month.

We know Katherine's people have denied she had a stroke. As for the Estate failing miserably, it seems like bad timing, because new court docs just revealed the Estate has grossed nearly half a billion dollars, wiping out MJ's massive debt.

Calls to Randy and Jermaine have not been returned.

The Jacksons Five Page Rant At MJ’s Estate. 19-07-'12

Since the passing of Michael, our beloved brother, you have failed to perform your duties as executors of his estate, but what you have not failed at is taking advantage of a grieving mother, father and a grieving family.

The Will that you presented did not have our brother’s signature on it, nor did it have a signature page attached to it. When asked about the missing signature page, John Branca replied, ‘it was on its way, and you were having just a little problem finding it.’ Amongst many other inconsistencies in the Will, there is also a conflict around Michael’s location on the day he supposedly signed the Will, July 7, 2002. We have evidence that undoubtedly supports and proves that Michael was absolutely not in Los Angeles, California, on the date of his signature reflected in the Will at-hand.

Our brother told us, in no uncertain terms and without hesitation in the months prior to his death, that he despised both of you and that he did not want either of you to have anything to do with his life or estate for that matter.

Statement From The Estate Of Michael Jackson. 18-07-'12

Recently, a letter was posted online from some of Michael Jackson’s siblings, whom Michael chose not to name in his will, questioning the document’s validity and the naming of John Branca and John McClain as his Executors. Here is a statement from attorneys for the Estate in response to the online posting:

Any doubts about the validity of Michael’s will and his selection of Executors were thoroughly and completely debunked two years ago when a challenge was rejected by the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the California Court of Appeals and, finally, the California Supreme Court.

Under the supervision of Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff, Co-Executors John Branca and John McClain have diligently carried out their fiduciary duties as well as their obligation to Michael to make sure that his Estate benefits the only family members he named in his will – his mother and his three children.

We are saddened that false and defamatory accusations grounded in stale Internet conspiracy theories are now being made by certain members of Michael’s family, whom he chose to leave out of his will. We are especially disheartened that they come at a time when remarkable progress has been made to secure the financial future of his children by turning around the Estate’s finances as well as during a time when so many of Michael’s fans, old and new, are enjoying his artistry through exciting new projects.

Producers Seek Young Man To Play Michael Jackson. 18-07-'12

Producers of a musical based on the life of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy are seeking an exceptionally talented young actor — one who can play a preteen Gordy, a young Michael Jackson and a precocious Stevie Wonder.

Gordy launched an audition website on Tuesday to help find the young man between the ages of 8 and 11 who can sing, dance and act like the King of Pop in his Jackson 5 days and Wonder at about age 11.

"Motown" will open on Broadway next spring.

Gordy says he's not looking for imitators, but someone who "can be themselves in the role" and give him "the same chills" he experienced when he first saw Jackson at age 10 in 1968.

IMMORTAL World Tour #1 Tour In North America. 15-07-'12

The Estate is thrilled to share the wonderful news that The IMMORTAL World Tour is the #1 Tour in North America for the first half of 2012 according to Pollstar. The tour is currently the #3 top grossing tour in the world.

The top-grossing act during the first six months of 2012 wasn’t a band or an artist with a mega-selling album. Instead it’s Cirque du Soleil – “Michael Jackson: The Immortal,” which played 95 shows in 46 cities and sold 703,793 tickets for a total gross of $78.5 million.

Other acts among the top five on Pollstar’s Top 100 N.A. Tours are Roger Waters with the former Pink Floydian selling 575,444 tickets for a final gross of$61.9 million; Van Halen’s 448,506 tickets sold resulting in a final gross of $44.9 million; Kenny Chesney selling 386,969 tickets and grossing $33.9 million; and Lady Antebellum’s 708,715 tickets sold giving the group a $30.9 million gross for Jan.-June.

Crunching the numbers, the intrepid mathematical geniuses in Pollstar’s Boxoffice Department determined that the Top 100 Tours in North America generated a combined gross of $1,125.9 million, up 1.2 percent over last year.

But it wasn’t just a good six months for concerts. Fans got a break on ticket prices with the average dropping $6.34, or 9.4 percent, to $60.68, the lowest since 2007 when the average ticket price was $58.61.

How did the concert industry manage to make more money, yet sell lower-priced tickets than the first six months of last year? Pollstar president and editor-in-chief Gary Bongiovanni said more shows and lower prices certainly helped.

“The concert industry appears to have made some successful adjustments to better reflect today’s economic realities,” Bongiovanni wrote in Pollstar’s Mid Year Business Analysis.

“Simply put, ticket prices have been lowered and venues have been downsized. To make up the revenue, many artists are working more shows. The Top 100 Tours of North America played shows in a combined total of 2,822 cities. That represents a 17.4 percent jump in the number of markets or 420 additional played over what we saw in 2011.”

Michael Jackson Estate Clears MJ's Massive Debt ... Almost. 14-07-'12

Michael Jackson's estate has made a fortune since the singer's death -- so much in fact ... it's nearly paid off $500 million in debt the King of Pop left behind when he died.

Executors for the Estate filed legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- which show the Estate has generated gross earnings exceeding $475 million as of the end of May.

According to the docs, all of MJ's debts have been paid, with the exception of a BIG debt involving Michael's publishing catalog ... and executors expect that will be fully paid off by the end of the year.

It's not only good news for the Estate ... it's great news for the small army of lawyers who have been handling all the legal and business affairs. Their fees -- from May, 2010 through November, 2011 -- exceeded $13.6 MILLION!

Two other things ... Katherine is asking for an additional $34,700 a month to pay for lawyers and accountants, and another $205,041 to cover lawyer and accountant fees from 2011.

Final thing --There are still some unresolved creditors' claims and several lawsuits to clear up.

All in all ... not a bad turnaround.

Featuring Michael Jackson: Collected Writings On The King of Pop. 13-07-'12

This book is a collection of the some of the most eloquent articles written on Michael Jackson since his passing in 2009. Among the tons of memories, musings, speculations and attempts to reassess Michael Jackson's art over the last three years, the work of Joe Vogel stands out the most profound, articulate and substantial. He makes important points about Michael Jackson's artistry and cultural impact, sometimes even in quite unexpected areas (such as comparing Jackson's Dangerous album with Nirvana's Nevermind), but nonetheless convincingly.

The books contains a number of pieces that had been published on various online media sites before, as well as a never before published chapter on Michael's childhood. This collection is a must-read for every Michael Jackson fan; and to those who are not familiar with Jackson's lesser acclaimed work, it will reveal new dimensions to the singer's persona and creativity.

Immortal Costumes Have To Thrill & Move Well. 12-07-'12

Bettina Bolzer-Bowles, head of wardrobe for the Immortal World Tour, gave a phone interview to Cleveland.com from a tour stop in Memphis (USA).

She said that more than 3,000 pieces of costume roll from city to city in a caravan of three large trucks, one of which carries a washer and a dryer. There are 1,400 costumes in each performance, and the wardrobe team travels with at least two sets of each.

With the way the show's acrobats and dancers move, the costumes have to do more than just look great.

"They have to move -- this is not an opera.”

Bolzer-Bowles and her crew of eight assistants work close together with costume designer Zaldy Goco, who created clothes for the This Is It concerts in 2009. They need to make sure each piece fits both the style of the show and the needs of the performer. An outfit might look amazing, but restrict vision or hinder a dancer's movement or catch fire since some costumes are actually outfitted for pyrotechnics. additionally, costumes are constructed of durable, stretchy materials such as Lycra. Some are made of cotton/polyester blends and all are held together with meticulous stitch work. The costume team tries to quickly repair minor costume issues and save the backups for true emergencies because when they are on the road there's very little time to create a whole new costume.

Each of the costume designs was inspired by an element of Michael Jackson's music, videos or life. However, they are not simple copies from videos:
"The main motivation to do the show was to create a show that Michael would've done. To us, this is his dream becoming a reality. We didn't want to copy what was already there."

For example, "Smooth Criminal" inspired the pinstriped gangster costumes, and the frightful bats are nightmarish creations based on "Thriller."

You'll also see references to the "giving tree," a gigantic tree at the Neverland Ranch where Michael loved to work on lyrics to his songs:

"The giving tree was a big symbol for him. It was a big element in his life; it served a great purpose."

Michael’s Slot Machine. 11-07-'12

The Treasure Island Resort in Las Vegas, unveiled a brand new way to gamble at its casino on Saturday. The new ‘KOP’ slot machine from Bally Technologies features Michael’s music.

Bally’s technicians say they were inspired by Michael, because his music transcends generations. They say his likeness and the fun of a slot machine go perfectly together.

Treasure Island is one of the first properties on the Strip to get the new machine. Its creators say the best part is that the new slot machine is made right here in Las Vegas and distributed worldwide.

Spike Lee Works On Michael Jackson Documentary. 11-07-'12

Spike Lee worked with Michael Jackson and considered him a friend, but the director says even he learned a lot combing through footage of the icon for a planned documentary about the singer's "Bad" album.

Lee calls it a "treasure chest of findings."

"We have footage in this documentary that no one's ever seen, stuff that Michael shot himself, behind-the-scenes stuff," he said in an interview Monday. "We had complete access to the vaults of Michael Jackson. ... He wrote 60 demos for the 'Bad' record. Only 11 made it. So we got to hear a lot of that stuff, too, so it was just a great experience."

He added: "You don't have to be a Michael Jackson-head to enjoy this."

Lee's documentary, which does not yet have an official title, will be part of a flood of material to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the "Bad" album, Jackson's follow-up to "Thriller" that included hits like the title track, "Smooth Criminal," ''The Way You Make Me Feel" and more. The album is being rereleased Sept.18 with additional tracks, a DVD and other bonus material; Lee's film is due to come out later this year, but no date has been set.

Besides Jackson's artistry, Lee said the documentary will show a more personal side of the late legend.

"He had a great sense of humor, and he was funny — so you'll see a lot of that stuff," he said.

Lee interviewed people ranging from Kanye West to Mariah Carey to L.A. Reid to Sheryl Crow, who was Jackson's background singer on the "Bad" tour.

"We really divided it into two things: Artists today who were influenced by Michael, and then people who worked side by side — musicians, songwriters, technicians, engineers, people at the label, who were all committed to Michael, to the follow-up to the biggest record of all time, which still is 'Thriller.'"

Besides the documentary, Lee also plans to hold his now annual birthday tribute to Jackson in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York, on Aug. 25; Jackson would have turned 54 this year.

"This year we're going to focus on the 'Bad' album, we're going to focus on the 25th anniversary, but at the same time we're going to play his full catalog, including the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons," he said. "It's going to be even bigger and better this year."

AEG Live Seeks Records From Dermatologist. 05-07-'12

Attornerys for AEG Live want Michael Jackson's dermatologist to hand over records concerning the treatment of his superstar patient regarding the wrongful death law suit brought against the entertainment conglomerate by Jackson's mother.

The law suit was filed in September 2010 by Jackson family matriarch, Katherine Jackson, on behalf of herself and her late son’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, alleging the company was negligent in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray to care for her son.

In documents filed Tuesday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos, AEG Live attorneys want Dr. Arnold Klein to turn over all of Michael Jackson’s medical records dating back to January 1984, or show why any of them are privileged and therefore not subject to the company’s subpoena. A hearing is scheduled Sept. 12.

Klein has so far only produced records from 2008-09, while another 12 pages of documents he did not turn over were received instead from the District Attorney’s Office, according to the AEG Live court papers.

AEG Live's attorneys say the additional documents are needed to assist them in their defense of the company and that they previously reached an agreement with Michael Jackson’s estate concerning the scope of medical records they could receive from the singer’s physicians.

Jackson was set to perform a string of 50 concerts for AEG Live in London when he died on June 25, 2009 of acute propofol intoxication in Los Angeles shortly after returning home from concert rehearsals.

Katherine Jackson's suit alleges AEG Live is responsible for the medical decisions made by Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death. Murray was sentenced to four years in prison on November 29, 2011.

Michael Bush In South America. 04-07-'12

Michael Bush being interviewed in a South American museum, where he was preparing an exhibition of Michael’s clothes.

The clip on You Tube shows a lot of Michael’s stage costumes, while Michael Bush discusses the designs and manufacture, together with Michael’s wishes both for the design, and the appearance on stage as to how the costumes would work.

This is a fascinating insight, not just into Michael’s vision, but the work entailed in making him look so special on stage and off. Michael Bush, together with Dennis Tompkins, who sadly has now passed away, did so much to enhance Michael’s stage shows, therefore they do indeed deserve the thanks and eternal gratitude of all of Michael’s fans.
