Michael and Alan PraterPrater: "Michael Was The Kindest Person I Ever Met". 11-01-'13

Singer and songwriter Alan Prater was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida (USA), where he learned to play trumpet and trombone in high school. Later he was hired to tour with The Jacksons when he was just in his late teens. He performed on stage with Michael Jackson from 1981 to 1985 as a trumpet and trombone player.

When Michael died in 2009, Prater was dumbfounded:

“A friend called me to say that Michael had died, so I turned on CNN and there he was. I was numb.

I tell you, Michael was the kindest person I ever met. He’d introduce me to Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minelli like I already knew these people.

And after each show, I’d sit in my hotel room and Michael would knock on the door every night and we’d talk. He was always curious about other people’s lives.

I thought he was going to live forever.”

Michael Jackson's Assistant I Paid MJ's Bills ... And I Want My Money Back! 06-01-'13

Michael Amir WilliamsMichael Jackson's personal assistant covered a bunch of expenses while the King of Pop was living in Vegas. Now, three years later, he's finally getting around to demanding payment.

Michael Amir Williams filed a creditor's claim with the Michael Jackson Estate, claiming he's still out $28,569.83. Among the items listed -- an $11K power bill, a $13K vehicle lease and almost $1K in phone bills.

As for why he took so long to file the claim, it's a little unclear -- Jackon kicked the bucket back in June 2009 ... and most everyone else filed their claims years ago. In fact, he may have missed the filing deadline by a long shot.

Williams also filed a class action suit against AEG recently ... which AEG didn't really appreciate.

Michael Jackson Fan Gets Gift From Artist's Estate. 05-01-'13

James Waddell wears his shiny Michael Jackson glove on his left hand on vacation, at ballgames and practically everywhere else.

So of course Waddell asked for more Jackson music during a Christmas party last month that volunteers threw for him and other developmentally disabled residents at Community Haven.

He got his wish with a Jackson CD.

But the gifts kept coming for Waddell after he was featured in a holiday news story that caught the attention of the attorneys who administer Jackson's estate.

The Los Angeles attorneys recently sent a box of Jackson memorabilia, including a collection of concert DVD's, a Wii game and a T-shirt.

“Happy holidays and all of our best wishes for you in 2013!” said a letter written by a paralegal on behalf of attorneys John Branca and John McClain.

James Waddell

Waddell was, of course, delighted.

“He's Michael Jackson through and through,” said Kim Clark, a marketing coordinator at the Sarasota facility where Waddell, 46, has lived for 10 years. “Michael just makes him happy.”

On Friday, Waddell put on his curly black wig and a shiny red jacket that still had a No. 44 label from last year's Halloween costume contest.

Waddell showed off his new presents and listened to one of the concert DVD's in his living room.

Then he danced as if nobody was watching.

His feet shuffled on the carpet. He pumped his arms in the air and then shook his gloved left hand.

When Jackson took off his glove and flung it on the video, Waddell did the same.

A few minutes later, Waddell was still dancing as he headed to his job washing dishes at the Community Haven kitchen.

The listing for Michael is accompanied by the following description:

"A new era of superstars dawned when Michael Jackson sold more than 40 million copies of 1982 album "Thriller," which continues to hold steady as the top-selling recording of all time.

Gary, Ind., native Jackson (1958-2009) earned his "King of Pop" nickname by making joy-infused dance hits and empathetic ballads. Within a career packed with honors, awards and superlatives, Jackson was named "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time" by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006.

May 16 will mark the 30th anniversary of a television broadcast that brought Jackson's greatness into clear focus for an audience of millions. As part of a special titled "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today and Forever," he performed smash single "Billie Jean" and complemented his lyrics with a memorable look (black fedora, one sequined glove and sequined socks) and unforgettable moves (the back-sliding "moonwalk" dance).

"Thriller" was bookended by significant-selling albums "Off the Wall" (20 million copies in 1979) and "Bad" (30 million in 1987). In 1985, Jackson and Lionel Richie co-wrote landmark charity single "We Are the World."

"The Daniels house was full of Michael Jackson's music for all the years our girls were growing up, and I think Cheri may have been a bigger fan than any of our daughters," Gov. Mitch Daniels said following Jackson's death. "His music will live a long time, and Indiana will always be proud of the Jackson family.""

Thriller VideoMJ Estate Coughed Up $55,000 To Pay Off 'Thriller' Chick. 04-01-'13

$55,000 ... that's how much it took for the chick from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video to call a truce in her war with the MJ estate ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... Ola Ray settled her lawsuit with the estate earlier this year, and now we know what for ... $55,000 to Ola ... and $20,000 to her lawyer.

Ola originally filed the suit against MJ and his production company in May 2009 -- a month before Jackson passed away -- claiming breach of contract. Ola said she was still owed a massive chunk of the "Thriller" profits ... nearly 30 years after it was released.

The director of the music video John Landis -- who filed a similar lawsuit against the estate -- has also settled ... but he wanted in excess of $2 million, so we're guessing he got a little more than Ola.

Billie Jean Single Cover'Billie Jean’: Michael Jackson’s Landmark Single Turns 30. 04-01-'13

“It is hard to say if there is a greater song than “Billie Jean.” I think there will never be a song like this one again, with this bassline, with this kind of effect, this eternalness, this perfection” — Pharrell Williams.

“Billie Jean,” arguably the most popular and celebrated track of the late Michael Jackson’s entire career, turned 30 years old today.

The story behind the making of the song is almost as memorable as the thumping dance track itself.

The paranoid lyrics, in which the King of Pop denies allegations of paternity to an unidentified child, were allegedly inspired by a real life crazed fan of Jackson’s, who actually allegedly claimed he’d fathered one of her twins.

Jackson himself has also alluded to his older brothers’ run ins with groupies during his Jackson Five days as a source he drew from when composing the song.

“Billie Jean is kind of anonymous. It represents a lot of girls. They used to call them groupies in the ’60s,” he said in a 1996 interview. “They would hang around backstage doors, and any band that would come to town they would have a relationship with, and I think I wrote this out of experience with my brothers when I was little. There were a lot of Billie Jeans out there. Every girl claimed that their son was related to one of my brothers.”

Producer Quincy Jones nearly rejected the now iconic song for the blockbuster 1982 album Thriller. He reportedly wasn’t a fan of its celebrated bassline or its intro. Jones also apparently wanted to nix the song’s title, for fear that audiences would think it was a reference to tennis great Billie Jean King. MJ fans today take heart that he was overruled by the King of Pop on every front.

The single hit number one on the Billboard charts and stayed there for 7 weeks. It also spawned a classic music video largely credited for breaking an unofficial color barrier on MTV. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the song led to Jackson’s most famous performance of “the moonwalk” on a Motown 25th anniversary special.

Today, “Billie Jean” is still a ubiquitous presence on dance floors around the country; its pure pop perfection has not been diluted at all in 30 years.

Jackson Family Fight Case CLOSED. 01-01-'13

No one in Michael Jackson's family will be prosecuted over the fight last July at Katherine's home ... TMZ has learned.

As you recall, Paris and Prince got into it with Janet ... the video shows Janet confronting Paris and then apparently trying to get at her cell phone.s

Paris then charged past Janet, who is then restrained by Randy. There was subsequently a physical confrontation ... we're told between Randy and Jermaine on one side, and Trent on the other.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the case is now closed because no one from the Jackson family would speak to cops. In fact, we're told none of them even returned various calls from detectives.

It seems there's been some sort of truce among family members.
