Michael Jackson’s Dead For Years: Jackson Family Fights In Court. 25-04-'17
Dead pop superstar Michael Jackson’s 86-year-old mother had accused a nephew of elder abuse in a lawsuit, but on Tuesday she gave up her court fight to keep that nephew away from her, her home and her bank accounts.
A judge dismissed Katherine Jackson’s request for an extension of a restraining order against her nephew, after the 86-year- old Jackson family matriarch decided against going forward with the case.
Michael Jackson had hired Trent Jackson — the nephew of the star’s mother — to look after the mother several years before the singer died in June 2009, according to Trent Jackson’s attorney Ronald Rale.
The ruling by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu does not prevent Katherine Jackson from filing another case against Trent Lamar Jackson in the future, but it would have to be based on new facts and not the ones alleged in the dismissed complaint.
Katherine Jackson’s new attorneys, Nelson Handy and Vatche Zetjian, declined to comment after the hearing on why their client was dropping the case. However, Handy told Treu that she did not know the hearing would be similar to a full trial.
“She was not prepared for that,” Handy said.
The octogenarian was granted a temporary restraining order in February. Court papers submitted on her behalf alleged that her nephew wanted to maintain control of her finances and live in her guest house without having to pay rent.
The papers also alleged that family members have witnessed ongoing abuse by her nephew, who once worked as her driver. He is the son of Luther Jackson, brother of her ex-husband Joe Jackson.
Trent Jackson was ordered under the TRO to return all keys, passwords and combinations for his aunt’s property and to stop obtaining access to her bank accounts. He had been ordered to remain 100 yards from her and to not enter the gated community where she resides.
Rale — who calls his client “a teddy bear” — said justice was served with the dismissal. He said the case should not have been brought and that his client has great affection for his aunt.
“He is truly hurt by this,” Rale said.
“He wanted Trent to take care of his mom,” Rale said. “What a great son.”
Rale said Trent Jackson has moved out of Katherine Jackson’s property.

Diana Ross Wants To Adopt Michael’s ‘Abandoned’ Son. 24-04-'17
Pop diva Diana Ross is desperate to adopt Michael Jackson‘s youngest child, 15-year-old Blanket — and rescue him from being abandoned by his family, insiders say!
“Blanket has become a forgotten child, and Diana Ross wants to move the teen from California into her home in Greenwich, Conn.,” notes a friend.
“Diana spends enough time in Los Angeles that Blanket wouldn’t totally be uprooted; he could still spend time with his family. But she feels like Blanket could use a life change so he can realize his full potential.”
The high school freshman, whose full name is Prince Michael Jackson II, now has virtually no adult supervision at the Calabasas, Calif., home of his 87-year-old grandma, Katherine, sources say.
Katherine spent recent months in London with daughter Janet and her new son, Eissa, by estranged husband Wissam Al Mana.
“It’s a horrible situation — this really sweet young man is all alone in the world,” says a pal, noting Katherine rarely talks to Blanket.
Blanket’s co-guardian, cousin T.J., lives an hour away and can barely “check up on Blanket once a week or so,” the source adds.
Diana, 73, picked by Michael to watch his three kids after his death, “was absolutely horrified” to learn Blanket has been alone. His siblings, Prince, 20, and Paris, 19, are now living their own lives.
As Radar reported last week, Paris is worried about her kid brother’s lonely life.
Michael Jackson penned a will naming his Supreme pal as backup guardian to his kids if Katherine “is unable or unwilling to act as guardian.”
Diana is looking at her legal options.
“It breaks her heart to see what’s become of Blanket,” says a pal.

Kobe Bryant Was Inspired By Michael Jackson. 23-04-'17
When Kobe Bryant retired from the NBA almost exactly a year ago, he did something completely unexpected and wrote a poem entitled “Dear Basketball.”
Bryant premiered the poem yesterday afternoon (April 22) at the Tribeca Film Festival and one of the most surprising stories to come out about the writing of the poem, was that his biggest inspiration for it was none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Bryant told the crowd at the festival;
“It’s the craziest story. I was working out at Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach and my phone rings, and it’s Michael Jackson. I was like ‘What? Why?’ It was this moment in time where I was really focused on my game, and I was getting a lot of flack for being too focused, being too serious. He was a big basketball fan, so he called just to tell me to stay on the right track, keep focused. I said, ‘Okay, well how did you do it?’ And he just went into his whole process of how he studied the greats, how he studied every note in all the Beatles’ classics to try to figure out if there’s a connection between that piece of music and Mozart’s piece of music. He said ‘You have to study the greats, learn everything about them.’ He showed me all kinds of James Brown, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly — he showed me ‘This is where I learned this, this is where I learned that.’ I thought I was working hard until I met him, and he became my mentor. I’ve had a lot of muses in my life, a lot of inspirations, but he is the chief.”
Bryant also spoke eight years ago on July 7th at Michael’s memorial service with Magic Johnson. He also appeared in the Spike Jones ‘Off The Wall’ documentary last year and in 2014 he released a a pair of Michael Jackson inspired sneakers.

Michael Jackson And Prince: Rivals And Revolutionaries. 21-04-'17
If you were alive in the 1980's, there was only one question: Prince or Michael Jackson?
It took some years to realize it, but there was only one answer: Both.
Prince and Michael Jackson were both Midwesterners born in 1958: Prince in Minneapolis, on June 7, and Michael Jackson in Gary, Indiana, on August 29. If you can’t tell from this picture, both blew up in the 1970's.
Prince and Michael Jackson had a lot in common. Both were black crossover artists who were among the only African-Americans whose videos were played in the early days of MTV.
In 1985, Prince was criticized for not performing on 'We Are The World', a song co-written by Michael Jackson to help starving African children. Prince was reportedly too shy to perform with his fellow artists, though Jackson’s shyness didn’t stop him from playing a crucial role. Prince & the Revolution did record a gorgeous song for the 'We Are The World' album — '4 The Tears In Your Eyes'.
Their race and sexuality were constantly questioned at the peak of their popularity, and both rightly told their critics to leave them alone — Jackson used almost exactly those words on 'Leave Me Alone' — but they also played with the questions.
“Am I black or white/am I straight or gay?” Prince sang on 'Controversy'.
“Who’s black/who’s white,” Jackson sang on 'Black Or White'.
Both men were also Jehovah’s Witnesses. Michael Jackson reportedly proselytized door-to-door near his family’s home in Encino, Calif. Prince often sang about God and Jesus, including in 'I Would Die 4 U'. He backed away from some of his dirtier lyrics as he embraced his religion more strongly.
Though Prince was always known as the dirtier of the two musical acts, he noted the irony of Michael Jackson being embroiled in scandal in 2004.
“What are my contemporaries doing now?” Prince said in an Associated Press interview, while Jackson was on trial accused of child molestation. “I’m not entangled in a bunch of lawsuits and a web that I can’t get out of. I can hold my head up … a happily married man who has his head in order. There isn’t a bunch of scandal in my life.” (Jackson was found not guilty.)
Jackson, the King of Pop, named one of his children Prince, which only fueled speculation about his feelings toward the elder Prince.
Sadly, they both died much too young — Jackson on June 25, 2009, and Prince on April 21, 2016.

‘Bubbles’ Film About Michael Jackson’s Pet Chimp In The Works. 21-04-'17
A stop-motion animated feature about Michael Jackson’s famed pet chimpanzee has just landed a director.
Taika Waititi has signed on to helm Isaac Adamson’s script “Bubbles” alongside co-director Mark Gustafson.
According to Deadline.com, the coming-of-age story will be told in the vein of 'Anomalisa', which was nominated for the Best Animated Film Oscar after it caused a stir at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival and was snapped up by Paramount.
“This film is not about Michael Jackson because that’s not a story for me to tell — or a story I’d be comfortable telling — it’s about a chimpanzee’s fascinating journey through the complex jungle of human life,” said Waititi. “I think animation is the only way to approach a story like this. I really loved 'Anomalisa' because it was beautiful and authentic in its meditation on loneliness.
Bubbles (born 1983) is a common chimpanzee, known for being the one-time pet of Michael Jackson.
Andrew Kortschak and Walter Kortschak of End Cue will produce the stop-motion animated feature with Dan Harmon’s Starburns Industries, alongside exec producers Adamson and Lee Stobby.
Added Waititi: “I’m really excited to be working with Dan Harmon and Starburns as we share similar sensibilities and want to tell human stories in unique and artistic ways.”
“It’s an idea that fascinates me and one I want to develop further,” Waititi said. “Most people know I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan, so the main thing for me is to make sure it’s respectful of him and his legacy. I’m not interested in making a biopic; I want to focus on telling a story that blends fact and fantasy, about an animal trying to make sense of the world.”
Waititi received an Oscar nom for his 2004 live-action short 'Two Cars, One Night', has worked on projects including 'Eagle vs. Shark', 'What We Do In The Shadows', 'Hunt For The Wilderpeople' and TV series 'The Inbetweeners'. He is currently directing 'Thor: Ragnarok'.

Sandy Gallin Dies At 76. 21-04-'17
Sandy Gallin, a Hollywood agent and manager who guided the careers of Dolly Parton and other celebrity icons and helped steer Michael Jackson through scandal and career crisis, has died at the age of 76.
During his peak, Gallin helped manage the careers of dozens of mega-stars, including Cher, Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand. He also partnered in the production of movies such as 'Father Of The Bride' and 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.
After walking away from his career as an agent in the late 90's, Gallin discovered that real estate was nearly as seductive and rewarding a commodity as celebrity, and he forged a second career as a designer of luxury homes.
His death Friday was announced on Instagram by longtime friend Bruce Bozzi. A cause of death was not released, but he had battled cancer and had quadruple bypass surgery in 1999.

Katherine Jackson Tentatively Sidelined In Lawsuit Against Her Late Son’s Estate. 18-04-'17
Michael Jackson‘s mother cannot intervene as a plaintiff in a lawsuit brought against her late son’s estate by four people who maintain they had interests in a company the singer created before his 2009 death, a judge tentatively ruled Tuesday.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Linfield is scheduled to hear arguments Wednesday before issuing a final ruling on Katherine Jackson’s motion.
Lawyers for the Jackson estate maintain the estate owns 100 percent of the Michael Jackson Co. because the singer was the sole owner when he was alive.
However, in her court papers, the 86-year-old Jackson family matriarch agrees with the other claimants that she has a 10 percent interest in the entity. She says the executors, John Branca and John McClain, “failed to properly apprise her” of the proceedings.
“Mrs. Jackson has a right to intervene in this action to protect her 10 percent ownership interest in TMJC,” her lawyer, Ryan Baker, stated in his court papers. “Any resolution of this matter without Mrs. Jackson’s participation will impair her ability to protect her ownership interest in the TMJC.”
Baker further argued that his client was not able to try to become a plaintiff in the case earlier because she was only recently informed about the proceedings. Baker’s court papers do not identify who told her about the case other than to state it was not the executors.
Attorneys for Qadree El-Amin, Broderick Morris, Raymone Bain and Adean King maintain that their clients collectively own about 15 percent of the company under a 3 a.m. deal Jackson made with them in a Tokyo hotel room on June 1, 2006.
The four claimants say it was Jackson’s idea to form the company and that he reserved 75 ownership for himself; 10 percent each for his mother and Bain, his general manager; and 1.68 percent each for El-Amin, Morris and King.
Judge Maria Stratton heard testimony in the claimants’ case during a non-jury, probate court trial that began in late 2015. She ruled March 27 that the Jackson estate owns 100 percent of TMJC.
The quartet’s lawsuit, which was separate from the probate action, was put on hold pending the outcome of the probate court proceedings. In his tentative ruling, Linfield said the civil case will remain stayed for now and that a status conference is scheduled before him on May 25.
The lawsuit was filed in May 2013 by El-Amin and Morris. Bain and King joined the case as plaintiffs later.
King worked at the time for Bain, who testified in a sworn declaration that she met Michael Jackson through tennis star Serena Williams. El-Amin was the manager of the R&B vocal group Boyz II Men, and Morris was the chief operating officer of Positive Productions Inc., a Japan-based company that promoted concerts and other events in that country.
The four maintain they tried to help the singer recharge his career through public appearances, performing on tour and making more music.

Michael Jackson’s Lawyers Claim IRS’ Witness Perjured Himself In Tax Trial. 18-04-'17
It’s been called the billion-dollar tax trial of the century — and it’s getting rocked by new revelations from Michael Jackson’s estate involving Whitney Houston.
In a new court filing obtained by the Daily News, Jackson estate lawyers claim the IRS’ star witness in its ongoing bid to collect hundreds of millions of dollars from the "Thriller" singer's heirs admittedly perjured himself on the witness stand during a trial last February.
They argue financial expert Weston Anson lied about his lucrative government gig valuing Houston’s estate and that his alleged perjury not only torpedoed his personal credibility, but the government’s entire case.
“The IRS' case depends upon Mr. Anson,” the filing obtained by The News said.
“Mr. Anson is the IRS's sole expert witness in this case, who has testified regarding his purported opinion of the fair market value of” the King of Pop’s posthumous prospects, the newly filed petition said.
The estate argues there’s no objective evidence to support the IRS’ valuations — such as its claim Jackson’s name and likeness were worth $161 million when he died in June 2009 — other than “the testimony of an admitted perjurer.”
In its own valuations, the estate estimates Jackson’s name and likeness were worth about $3 million when he died from an overdose of the surgery strength anesthetic propofol.
Using snippets of courtroom transcripts, estate lawyers argue in their petition that Anson himself admitted he lied when asked point-blank on the witness stand whether he already had a contract with the IRS involving Houston.
“Mr. Anson, you were asked if you were retained by the Internal Revenue Service for the Whitney Houston matter, and you said no. That wasn't a correct and honest response, was it?” estate lawyer Howard Weitzman asked under cross examination, according to the transcript.
“The answer is that's correct. It was not an honest response,” Anson replied.
Anson testified he was told by his lawyer “to reveal nothing about IRS tax affairs” because it might “result in a felony.”
He was referring to a law that prohibits IRS employees from disclosing confidential tax return information to third parties.
In their petition asking to have Anson’s testimony tossed, Jackson’s estate lawyers say Anson simply should have refused to answer pointed questions about Houston’s estate rather than make unequivocal — and false — statements that he “never” worked for the IRS and “absolutely” had no connection to Houston’s estate.
Taxpayers are suing the IRS over that huge hack, of course.
Elsewhere in their filing, estate lawyers claim Anson made misleading public statements about his valuation of Jackson’s estate.
They claim he suggested during a “webinar” that the estate was worth an estimated $1 billion and that an email sent from his company also used the eye-popping figure.
In his testimony, Anson called the $1 billion assessment “outrageous” and said he didn’t authorize the email. He claimed he prefaced his webinar reference to the “billion dollar case” with the statement, “what is known as.”
Attempts to reach Anson were not immediately successful Tuesday.
For its part, the IRS has asked that the court seal the portions of Anson’s testimony related to Houston’s valuation.
“Recognizing that the effective operation of our tax system hinges on the willingness of taxpayers to voluntarily provide the government with highly confidential information, Congress has taken steps to ensure that confidentiality,” the IRS said in its March 24 filing asking for the protective order.
The judge has yet to rule on the latest requests and could take more than a year to make his final decision in the case, experts said.

Jackie Jackson Denies Father Joe Abused Brother Michael. 13-04-'17
Jackie Jackson has denied his late brother Michael Jackson was physically abused by their father Joe.
Michael, who passed away aged 50 in 2009, claimed in several interviews that his father physically and emotionally abused him, notably making extensive allegations in British journalist Martin Bashir’s intimate 2003 documentary 'Living With Michael Jackson'.
Although Joe has admitted physically disciplining his children, he denies his actions amounted to abuse and described them as the actions of a caring but strict father.
Now Jackie, who performed alongside Michael and their other siblings in the family’s group the Jackson 5 has played down his brother’s abuse claims.
The 65-year-old singer tells U.K. news there was “no truth” to Michael’s claims of extensive abuse, adding, “My dad could never catch Michael –Michael never got it. He’d go under my bed and my dad would start laughin’ and he’d just let him go.”
In the 2003 documentary Jackson said, “He (Joe) practiced us with a belt in his hand and if you missed a step expect to be whip, whip, whip…” while making a whipping motion with his hand.
Michael also alleged that his father used other objects to beat him and his brothers, saying he used “whatever was around” and also threw him up against the wall.
In a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Joe admitted he had dished out physical punishment but claimed it was a part of good parenting, saying, “It kept them out of jail and kept them right.”
Jackie’s other sibling Jermaine has admitted Joe was very tough on them as children but told ABC News in 2011, “We wouldn’t want to be raised any other way, with the way he (Joe) raised us.”
Editors at The Times report Jackie also claimed that before Michael’s death from an overdose of a surgical anaesthetic, he was planning to reunite with his brothers to reform the Jackson 5 for the first time in 25 years.
According to Jackie, despite at the time denying a reunion was on the cards, Michael planned to reunite the group after he had finished a planned 50 date run of concerts at London’s O2 Arena.
Jackie and the other three surviving brothers who formed the group’s classic line-up, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon, are still touring as The Jacksons, and are playing a series of shows in the U.K. this summer (17).

Sneak Peek! A Look At Lifetime’s Michael Jackson Movie. 12-04-'17
After Lifetime greenlit a Michael Jackson biopic, perhaps the most important step was casting a convincing actor to portray the pop icon.
So who better to step into MJ’s shoes than a man who spent years as a Jackson-sanctioned impersonator.
Navi, who worked for Jackson on multiple occasions as a body double and decoy during the King of Pop’s lengthy career, stars in the upcoming 'Michael Jackson: Searching For Neverland' - and People has an exclusive first-look image from the TV movie in the current issue of the magazine, on newsstands Friday (April 14).
Searching for Neverland will chronicle the final years of Jackson’s life, including his time as a father to sons Prince and Blanket and daughter Paris.
Lifetime’s production is not associated with the controversial episode of British network Sky Arts’ upcoming TV anthology series, which was to feature Joseph Finnes as Jackson but was cancelled in January.
'Michael Jackson: Searching For Neverland' is slated to premiere May 29 on Lifetime.
The Lifetime biopic 'Michael Jackson: Searching For Neverland' has found its lead in M.J. tribute artist, Navi.

What's Happened To Blanket? 12-04-'17
Paris Jackson is reportedly concerned for the welfare of her younger brother, 15-year-old Blanket, who sources say is essentially living by himself.
While 19-year-old Paris and her 20-year-old brother Prince have enjoyed greater public profiles since becoming adults - Paris appeared on a recent Rolling Stone cover - their younger sibling is still meant to be in the care of the guardians assigned to the children after pop superstar Michael Jackson's death.
TMZ reports that Paris has complained her younger brother is for the most part living entirely by himself in 86-year-old grandmother Katherine Jackson's home, high in the hills above Los Angeles.
Despite the Jacksons being a large family - Katherine and husband Joe have eight children between them, giving Michael's children a large circle of aunts and uncles - Paris fears her young brother has slipped through the cracks, TMZ reports.
While Blanket lives in Katherine's home, his grandmother has not been there herself since January - since then she's spent a two-month stint in London before staying at daughter Rebbie's LA home.
Katherine and Joe Jackson share guardianship for Blanket with their 38-year-old grandson TJ, one-third of 90s boy band 3T. While TJ and his wife pay regular visits to Blanket, it's understood neither actually lives at the home.

Rashida Jones Recalls That Time Michael Jackson's Chimpanzee, Bubbles, Bit Her. 11-04-'17
Not monkeying around! Actress Rashida Jones recalled her horrifying encounter with Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee, Bubbles, on Sunday Today with Willie Geist on Sunday, April 9.
A young Jones, who is the daughter of Thriller and Bad producer Quincy Jones, was at Michael Jackson’s Neverland home when she was left alone with Jackson’s pet chimp. Things turned scary after Bubbles stole Jones’ hair tie.
“I opened the cage to get it back and he got out,” the Angie Tribeca star, 41, reminisced to Willie Geist. “He started throwing things at me. And I went up to just be like, ‘No, don't do that,’ and he grabbed my hand like a sandwich.”
With a scar still visible on her hand, Bubbles definitely left a mark on Jones.
The actress, who also told Geist about what it was like to ride the school bus with Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton as a kid in the video above, first revealed that she was bitten by Bubbles to Vice’s Desus & Mero last November.
“He also looked me dead in my eye. While he was biting me. I was trying to punish him because he threw something at me. And I like hit him on the head and say 'no,” Jones told Vice. “Because I had seen Michael [Jackson] trying to punish him before.”
She added that Bubbles didn’t seem apologetic after he left her bloody and wounded. Jones said, “He was like, ‘I’m the man.’”
While Jones has since gone on to star in comedies like Parks and Recreation, music’s most famous chimp is still alive. No longer in the care of Michael Jackson, Bubbles was living with other monkeys at the Centre for Great Apes in Florida as of March 2005.

Quincy Jones Can’t DQ Atty Expert In Jackson Royalty Row. 11-04-'07
A California judge on Tuesday rejected Quincy Jones’ request to disqualify an attorney expert designated by Sony and Michael Jackson’s production company in Jones’ $10 million royalty battle, saying there wasn’t a “factual basis” showing the attorney was privy to confidential information when his former firm represented Jones.
Jones’ suit alleges that MJJ Productions Inc., which is controlled by Jackson’s estate, and Sony cheated him out of royalties for the soundtrack to 'This Is It' — the documentary about the King of Pop released just months after Jackson’s 2009 death — and the Cirque du Soleil show featuring music from three Jackson albums Jones produced: 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller' and 'Bad'.
In March, Jones moved to have the court disqualify one of the experts MJJ Productions planned to use, Eisner Jaffe attorney Owen Sloan, on the ground that his prior law firm, Mason & Sloan, previously represented Jones in connection with one of the producer agreements at issue in the litigation and other related matters.
On Tuesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Stern denied the request, after MJJ’s attorney argued that the other attorney in the two-partner firm handled Jones’ representation exclusively and there was no evidence that Sloan ever worked on the music producer’s matters.

Joseph Jackson Now Solidly Behind MJ Estate. 10-04-'17
Michael Jackson's Estate has an ally who was once it's arch enemy -- none other than Michael's dad, Joseph.
We've learned Joe is now a staunch supporter of the Estate he once claimed was robbing members of his family of their just deserts. Michael's will cut Joseph out completely, as it did MJ's brothers and sisters, and Joseph called the document fraudulent and went after the Estate and the executors.
It's a different story now for several reasons. Jackson family sources tell us 3 factors changed Joseph's tune ...
-- The 88-year-old suffered a stroke in 2015 and the Estate paid his medical bills and other expenses.
-- Joseph was moved by a documentary produced by the MJ Estate for Showtime, called 'Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown to Off The Wall', which acknowledged Joseph for moving the family from humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana to Hollywood. Joseph loved the way he was portrayed.
-- Joseph came to believe the Estate was actually taking good care of Katherine, along with Michael's 3 kids.
Joseph had tried influencing Katherine to challenge the Estate, but that has stopped in a big way. As we've reported, now some of Katherine and Joseph's kids have picked up the mantle trying to carry on that challenge, but the patriarch is no longer in their corner.
