Michael Jackson Is Just The Fifth Musician To Chart This Many Top 10 Hits. 19-07-'18

Michael JacksonMuch of the conversation last week when in regards to the charts revolved around Drake and the many, many chart records he matched (or broke), but he wasn’t the only superstar who managed to rise the ranks and make history in the process.

The late, great Michael Jackson also appeared on the Hot 100 singles ranking for the first time in years, scoring another posthumous chart hit as a featured guest on Drake’s 'Don’t Matter To Me', which is featured on the rapper’s new No. 1 album 'Scorpion'. The single, which uses previously unreleased vocals from the legendary musician, debuted at No. 9, and it was one of four songs from the lengthy project to kick off inside the top 10.

With another certified smash to his credit, Jackson collected his thirtieth top 10 in the U.S., which is a total only a handful of artists have ever reached. According to Billboard, Jackson is now just the fifth musician in history to appear inside the uppermost area on the tally with at least 30 different tunes, and he’s in the company of some of the most successful acts of all time (as if he couldn’t already be classified as such).

The other four artists who have sent 30 (or more) songs into the Hot 100’s top 10 include Drake (31), Rihanna (also 31), the Beatles (34) and Madonna (38), who remains in first place among all artists. 'Don't Matter To Me' helped both Drake and Jackson reach this important milestone, though it also pushed the former ahead of the latter, and now Drake claims the title of the solo male musician with the most top 10's.

Impressively, 'Don’t Matter To Me' is Jackson’s first top 10 as a featured artist, as he served as a lead artist on his 29 other titles, though he is credited as one of two leaders on a few smashes. It’s also worth mentioning that Jackson’s 30 top 10 hits doesn’t take into account the top 10 singles he collected as a member of the Jackson 5, as this list looks only at his solo achievements.

BTSBTS Will Not Be Joining Michael Jackson's Birthday Tribute Song. 19-07-'18

South Korean boy band BTS have just confirmed that they’ll be unable to participate in a Michael Jackson birthday tribute song.

The late pop star’s 60th birthday will be celebrated in his honor on August 29.

However, the group’s agency, BigHit Entertainment, recently announced that BTS would not in fact be available to participate in the planned tribute song due to their busy schedule in the months ahead.

The agency stated: ‘(BTS) recently received a request (to participate in) a tribute song for Michael Jackson. It is a great honor to have even received this request. However, it is unfortunately difficult for the group to participate as their album is being released soon and they have concerts for their world tour ahead.’

Their upcoming album, 'Love Yourself: Answer', is slated to be released on August 24, 2018.

Release Of An Extremely Limited Number Of The Soul Illustrated Magazine Of April 1971. 17-07-'18

Soul Illustraded (Limited Number) Magazine CoverFans of Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 are familiar with the Soul magazine of which very many units were devoted to Michael and the Jackson family during the 70's.

Well, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of the magazine, Soul Newspaper (USA) has decided to publish an extremely limited number of 'Soul Illustrated' original issues of April 1971 in excellent condition.

This issue, which features the Jackson 5, also features Roberta Flack, Jimmy Hendrix, Isaac Hayes, Smokey Robinson, and more.

For the record, Soul magazine existed from 1966 to 1982 and was one of Los Angeles' first black music publications. Owning numbers from such a magazine allows you to get back into the history of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 as if you were there.

It was in 1969 that the magazine published its first presentation of the Jackson 5 in its edition of September 8 and the group made the UNE of the magazine as of June 1, 1970.

Finally for all those who own the double album Live At The Forum, the magazine had at the time made an account of the two concerts and we talked about all this in 2010.

If the years pass quickly, this extremely limited publication of this special Soul Illustrated issue of April 1971 will most certainly allow you to dive into the HIStory once more.

Released: 04-1971

Missy Elliott To Get Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award At MTV's VMA's. 16-07-'18

Missy ElliottMTV has announced the nominees of this year’s video music awards who include: The Carters, Cardi B, and Childish Gambino, who has pushed their artistic videos to life by defining themselves. But none of them will be here with the help of 'Supa Dupa Fly' rapper Missy Elliott. It is about time that she gets the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Last year Pink took home the award in which she ranks with Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and many more.

This year, I urge the VMA's to correct a historical error by giving the award award to Missy.

Throughout the years Missy has shown so much support, respect and love to Michael Jackson and she often take it to social medias to voice her love the King of Pop. So we are so pleased that the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award goes to Missy this year! Better late than never and well deserved!

Congrats Missy!

The King Of Pop Endures In Michael Jackson ONE. 13-07-'18

Choreography is important in all Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas productions, but only Michael Jackson ONE was entirely inspired by an icon of dance who directly influenced most, if not all, of its cast members. Whether emulating Jackson’s style, paying tribute to his trademark moves or expressing his spirit through entirely fresh and original choreography, the fleet feet that touch the stage at Mandalay Bay belong to seasoned professionals who all came of age after the King of Pop’s influence on the world of dance had become both widespread and well-established.

Michael Jackson ONE’s fifth anniversary this month is a landmark for both the production and the careers of the people who have been involved with the show since its inception. Dance coach Tiffany Baker, who joined Michael Jackson ONE during its creation, says the show is at a strong point right now. “We’re consistently working on trying to strengthen different elements, make a storyline really visible with the audience,” she says. “With the cast constantly changing we bring in different strengths and different skills that can really help elevate a lot of our acts.”

Baker cites the 'Thriller' number as an example of one that went from good to breathtaking thanks to the growing skills of its trampoline acrobats. Like Jackson’s style itself, the show’s choreography is a mix of classical, contemporary and street styles originally developed by Olivier Simola and Rich + Tone Talauega. Signature Jackson accouterments such as spangled gloves, penny loafers, sunglasses and fedoras inspire entire scenes. Teams of Smooth Criminals, MJ Warriors, Paparazzi and Tabloid Junkies deliver synchronized moves, while 'Dirty Diana' is brought to life as a pole-dancing siren under the spell of the malevolent machine-monster Mephisto.

MJ One
Michael Jackson ONE is an electrifying fusion of acrobatics, dance and visuals that reflects the dynamic showmanship of the King of Pop, immersing the audience into the world of Michael's music. Driven by his biggest hits heard like never before in a riveting, state-of-the-art surround-sound environment Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil performs exclusively at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Acting scenes have been revised to strengthen the narrative of four misfits who discover hidden powers after being drawn into Jackson’s magical world. “We really try to keep faithful to what the original directors and choreographers wanted and what their vision was,” says Baker. “But then sometimes in putting something together you realize this works, and this doesn’t. If we do it this way, people will understand it better.” Slacklines, martial arts and juggling figure in the evolution of the misfits into heroes, and Jackson’s image is prevalent via video and holographic imagery. Awe-inspiring special effects and multi-directional sound add to the experience, but Michael Jackson One is primarily a celebration of Jackson through his music and body movement.

Baker says the scene set to 'Smooth Criminal' is the most difficult to pull off. Dancers don gangster suits and fedoras to transform into King of Pop avatars and evoke actual choreography created by Jackson for performing the song live. “For the dancers, you really want to look like Michael as much as you can,” she says, adding that while his inspiration was prevalent, no one can really pull off Jackson’s moves like Jackson did. “Every dancer, some time in their life has been influenced by Michael Jackson in one way or another, no matter what age you are.

Bubbles PaintingBubbles Paintings Also In Exhibition In Miami. 10-07-'18

For a second year in a row, after raising over $11,000 for the Center for Great Apes and attracting worldwide media and participation (including BBC, People Magazine, EFE ), Frames USA is opening its doors again for Apes that Paint 2. The free event will take place on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 6pm to 10pm. Attendees will have the unusual opportunity to buy a variety of paintings created by Bubbles, Michael Jackson’s former chimpanzee and many other celebrity great apes living in two different ape sanctuaries in central Florida. Not only are these paintings rare and great conversation pieces but money earned from their sales goes to rescuing and providing lifetime care for abandoned chimpanzees and orangutans. The event will also host the kickoff party to Walk for the Apes, a 5k walk that will take place on September 30, 2018 at Tropical Park benefiting these apes.

At this event attendees will be dazzled by the abstract nature of the paintings and the beautiful vivid color combinations used by the apes. Interestingly all apes paint differently. Last year the BBC interviewed live on the air Estelle Lovatt, a famous British art critic to judge the work of the apes that were being showcased at Apes that Paint. Over 10,000 listeners heard an art critic say positive, stellar, commentary about these fascinating works of art. “Guests of the show were thrilled with the remarkable ape paintings and this year the experience will be even better” says Frames USA & Art Gallery owner Adam Brand.

Brand says they will have additional pieces from residents at Save the Chimps sanctuary as well as orangutan and chimps from the Center of Great Apes. These apes artists include celebrity pieces from Michael Jackson’s former pet chimp, and the twin chimps from the 2001 Planet of the Apes. Moreover, there will be larger variety of canvas sizes for every space and budget. Purchases of these original art works include a custom frame and a 5k walk registration.

Also this year, the event will host ape volunteers from the Center of Great Apes and Save the Chimps, who will be educating and inspiring others about the life of these chimpanzees and orangutans. Event goers will be able to take part in a special presentation about Bubbles, Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee and other celebrity apes. There will be food and drinks and an information desk for attendees to register for Walk for the Apes. All registered walkers and get an exclusive t-shirt design showcasing their support for the rescue and lifetime care of chimpanzees and orangutans, both endangered species.

The event will conclude with the unveiling of the Walk for the Apes 2018 poster and the sale of 18×24 prints.

Save the Chimps is the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary located in Fort Pierce Florida providing lifetime care for chimps rescued from biomedical research laboratories, entertainment and pet trade

The first sheet of the contract is a copy of the original. Signature sheet is original, measures 13 x 8 1/2'', and has been signed in blue pen. Dated as having been executed on the November 21, 1967. William Adams, of Steeltown Records, has signed on both the President and the Secretary lines. Joseph Jackson has signed the artist line. Document has been stamped and signed by a notary public. Wear around edges of paper, as well as deep crease along bottom due to the paper having been folded. Some slight age spots. Three small tears have been slightly taped on back.

Steeltown Records, in Gary, Indiana, is best known for being the label with which The Jackson Five got their start. Their first album, The Steeltown 45s, was released on this label. The story of their first signing went as such: Joe Jackson invited the owner of Steeltown to come see the Jackson kids perform at Beckman Junior High in Gary. Hestitant at first, he eventually agreed - and he was hugely impressed by what he saw. After the performance, Steeltown offered the Jacksons a record deal. The Jackson Five ever only recorded eight songs with the label, two of which were unreleased. In July of 1968, The Jackson Five signed with Motown Records - a move that was controversial, as their contract with Steeltown had not yet expired.

This item comes to us from the one of the original founders of Steeltown Records.

The auction of more than 700 lots covers artifacts from the civil rights movement, African-American films and music. Other items include a two-page handwritten letter in which Rosa Parks describes meeting Martin Luther King Jr. for the first time, plus a large collection of original sheet music by Marvin Gaye, the Temptations and the Isley Brothers.

The auction’s expected to break records in various categories.

Michael Jackson’s Brother Tito Says Singer ‘Made Peace’ With Joseph Jackson Before His Death.

Tito JacksonTito Jackson has spoken for the first time since the death of his dad Joseph Jackson. Tito saw his father the day before he died and said he ‘thanked him for everything that he has done’. Joseph, who was instrumental in creating the mammoth music careers of his children, especially his late son Michael Jackson and sister Janet, died last month at the age of 89. Tito said that Joseph and Michael would be ‘happy to be reunited with Michael’ and ‘will probably be trying to get new music’. On the last time he saw his dad before he died, Tito said: ‘He couldn’t speak but I thanked him for everything that he has done and the world he had led me to, I thanked him for all the things I learnt from him. He recognised I was there and I was speaking to him. He understood what I was saying but he wasn’t able to reply.’

Michael, who died in 2009, spoke about how his father treated them in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying how he would watch them perform with a belt in his hand and beat them with the belt ‘if you didn’t do it the right way’. However Tito insists they had ‘made peace’ and that he and Michael’s other older brothers Jackie and Jermaine got the brunt of it.

He told The Mirror: ‘He lashed us more than anybody because we were in Gary, Indiana. There is nothing but gangs and no jobs, there are shootings on a daily basis. My father kept a grip on his older sons more than anything. ‘My father actually did a great job. And people don’t understand that because people don’t want to understand it. My father did a terrific job.’

Arthur Phoenix To Auction Off Prized Michael Jackson Memorabilia. 03-07-'18

"1969... I'm sitting in front of those old floor model TV's and there it was, 'The Dave Sullivan's show,' and when I laid eyes on Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five, I said, 'that's my dream, I want to be just like him,'" he said.

Then he got the opportunity of a lifetime. Arthur found himself working for the Jackson family and working right alongside a man he'd admired all his life, the "King of Pop."

Having worked as the Jackson family's estate publicist and personal manager to Tito Jackson, he's now auctioning off some items he's collected in past years, so die-hard Jackson fans can get a taste of the experience he once had.

"A fan that gets these is a fan that never had the chance to meet Michael, to even speak with Michael, and this would bring them closer to Michael by helping them to get to know who Michael really was," Phoenix said.

On Wednesday, Arthur will auction Jackson family memorabilia, including hit items like autographed albums of 'Thriller', 'Off The Wall', and 'ABC'.

Even some more unique items will be up for auction.

"This was done at a private party after the world's famous "Victory Tour" in 1984," he said.

Arthur says with the proceeds, he plans to give back to charities for children.

"Mike was kind of sweet, gentle, and he's a giving human being that loves to give and he's full of joy," he said.

Because that is what Michael would have done.

Auction taking place in Tempe in Arizona on July 4, 2018. Auction’s details here: Blue Leaf Auctions.
