1974:

American Music Awards:
February 19 -- Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond co-hosted the first annual American Music Award show with Rodney Allen Rippy and Ricky Segall held at the Aquarius Theater, Hollywood, California. Dick Clark created the American Music Awards in 1973 as a populist response to the Grammy's.

Michael and Donny Osmond present the award for Favorite Soul/R&B Band to The Temptations, while Ricky Segal and Rodney Allen joined them to present the award for Favorite Pop/Rock Band to the Carpenters.

American Music Awards (19-02-1974)

Grammy Awards:
March 2 -- The Jackson 5 attend the 16th annual Grammy Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, California. They perform a medley of different songs 'Be What You Are', 'The Cisco Kid', 'Could It Be I'm Falling In Love', 'Love Train' and 'Midnight Train To Georgia' and present Gladys Knight & The Pips with a Grammy for the best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance by a duo, Group or Chorus for 'Midnight Train To Georgia'.

1975:

February 18 -- During the second American Music Awards held at the Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California, Michael accepted Favourite Soul/R&B Female Artist on behalf of Diana Ross from Al Green and Pat Boone.

Michael and Janet Jackson present the award of Favourite Soul Group to Gladys Knight and the Pips, which is accepted by Dick Clark after the Mayor of Los Angeles, Tom Bradley goes missing backstage.

1976:

American Music Awards:
American Music Awards (31-01-1976)January 31 -- Michael Jackson attends with Katherine, Janet, Randy & LaToya the 3rd American Music Awards held at the Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California. Michael accepts the award for Best Soul Group on behalf of Gladys Knight & The Pips from Melissa Manchester and Stevie Wonder.

He also presents, together with David Soul, the award for Favourite Soul Female to Aretha Franklin.

1977:

American Music Awards:
January 31 -- Michael Jackson attends with Janet, Fred "Rerun" Berry and Lola Falana the 4th American Music Awards held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California. Michael presented the award for Favourite Pop/Rock Group to Chicago by telephone with Lola Falana.

The Jacksons perform 'Good Times' at the American Music Awards.

Grammy Awards:
February 19 -- The Jacksons attend the 19th annual Grammy Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, California. Before introducing the nominations for the Best Female Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance, they performed a little ditty to explain the category, with each brother doing a short rap. They then present the award to Nathalie Cole for "Sophisticated Lady (She's a Different Lady)".
