Leave Me Alone Maxi- Single CoverLeave Me Alone (Maxi-Single)

'Leave Me Alone' is the eighth single from Michael's 'Bad' album, it was written and composed by Michael and produced by Michael and Quincy Jones. The maxi-single was released in 1989 in Costa Rica by Epic.

One of the rarest MJ's Epic solo commercial 12"s, this Costa Rica press has a total different picture sleeve from the other 'Leave Me Alone' releases, and includes both versions of 'I Just Can Stop Loving You' (English & Spanish lyrics) as B-side.

All the Costa Rica presses are rare, but this is one of the rarest, also because it's the last single released from 'Bad'. I guess that no more than a few hundred of copies have been pressed.

"I worked hard on the song, stacking vocals on top of each other like layers of clouds," said Michael. "I'm sending a simple message here: Leave me alone! The song is about a relationship between a guy and a girl, but what I'm really saying to people who are bothering me is: Leave me alone!"

Consistent with the song's lyrical content, there is an emphasis on the tabloid view of Jackson's personal life and public image, referring to the nickname "Wacko Jacko" given to him by the press, and the various headlines associated with him in the 1980s. Controversially acknowledging the rumours that he had attempted to purchase the bones of the "Elephant Man", Jackson dances with stop-motion "Elephant Man" bones in the video.
