Michael's 45th Birthday PartyFans Share Jackson's Birthday Fun. 30-08-'03

The day after his 45th birthday Michael attends a special birthday party held in his honour; the 'Celebration Of Love' at the Orpheus Theater at 842 South Broadway in Los Angeles, California. The party was organised by Deborah Danelly's internet fanclub MJFC, along with MJWN and TMC.

Host for the evening was Steve Harley, with the entertainment supplied by Michael Jackson impersonator Navi, Bling Dynasty, Patty Boulaye, Jay Kid and the Kennedy Tap Company.

Fans paid up to $100 each for an invitation to the event, a three-hour party, which included a brief appearance from the star.

Billed as a party "in the spirit of love, celebration and unity", fans also had the chance to win one of their hero's famous fedora hats.

Fans lined the streets chanting and singing 'Happy Birthday' to their idol. He was also presented with a large, decorated cake.

While Brian McKnight sang Happy Birthday to Jackson, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and R&B hunk Usher were guests at the 'Celebration Of Love' party, which was hosted by comedian Steve Harvey.

At least one fan travelled from London for the event and another family came from Pakistan.

Michael arrives just before the start of the show, and is shown to a private box where he remains seated until just before the end when he takes the stage to thank everyone for organising the event and gave a heartfelt thank you speech dedicated to his fans:

"Over the years we became a family. You are all my family. My children are your children and all children of the world are our children and our responsibility.

This is a time when a person reflects on the child that will always live inside him,but more importantly, the grown man that continues to emerge intellectually, but never lost his child-like innocence.

A lot of what you’ll be seeing from me in the future will celebrate the youthful imagination that has always been a part of who I am,but also the adult perspective of a father and artist and member of our community.

My birthday wish is that you, my fans ,will join me in some new undertakings and that we all travel into a bright future together.

I feel young enough to look into the future with great optimism."

Neverland RanchMichael Jackson Opens Neverland To The Public. 21-08-'03

Michael Jackson is to open his Neverland Valley to the public - for $5,000 a ticket.

Michael's home will be open for one day only - 13 September - and 250 visitors will be able to enjoy the attractions, which include an amusement park, video arcade, zoo and movie theatre.

The promotional material reads, "From the moment you enter the gates, you will wish that this day could last forever."

However, questions are being fielded as to what will happen to the $4,000 left over after $1,000 from each ticket is given to three charities: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Oneness, which promotes multiculturalism in arts and education, and E Ai Como E Que Fica, which benefits impoverished children in Rio de Janeiro, with the remainder of the money going towards the cost of the event.

A source tells gossip site People News, "(It'll go into) Michael's pocket. He stands to make a million from this - and there's no guarantee he'll even be there!"

Others are speculating that the move may be an effort on Jackson's part to sell the theme park - which is proving cripplingly expensive to maintain in the wake of the 'Thriller' star's many court cases.

Scary MovieAngry Jackson To Sue 'Scary Movie' Makers. 15-08-'03

Michael is so upset about a joke made at his expense in upcoming movie 'Scary Movie 3', he's reportedly suing the makers.

Dimension Films, the studio responsible for the spoof flick, is preparing to face a case brought against them by the 'Thriller' star, who's allegedly angry about a Jackson-related child sex joke.

According to showbiz website People News, lawyers are in the process of trying to get both the trailer and the ending of the film cut to remove all reference to kids, Jackson, or both.

But media law specialists believe he faces a tough struggle in his efforts to enforce any changes.

Legal entertainment expert Michael O'Connor says, "A lawsuit isn't as easy as A-B-C. Parodies and comedies have a lot more licence.

"If a film is meant to be humorous and that's understood, then most likely it will not be considered defamatory."

Jackson was the focus of a police investigation in 1993, following allegations he sexually abused a 14-year-old boy. The case was eventually settled out of court.

Interview Magazine Cover (08-2003)Michael Jackson Interviews Pharrell Williams. 08-'03

This interview, which took place in early June 2003, actually came about as the magazine was planning a piece on Pharrell Williams, who at the time was an upstart producer from Virginia.

This 'Interview' (special music issue) magazine was released in August, 2003 and it features interviews with Coldplay, Nina Simone, Christina Aguilera, Seal, Pharrell Williams, Mandy Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Jewel, Sting, and Thalia, plus features on Led Zeppelin, Natalie Imbruglia, Chris Cooper, Sean Paul, Charlotte Martin, Nikki Reed, Nora-Jane Noone, and others, plus fashion, reviews, and much more!

As the editors were arranging the story with Williams, he casually mentioned that he’d always wanted to speak to Michael Jackson, who had been in the news after appearing in British journalist Martin Bashir’s infamous television documentary, 'Living With Michael Jackson', which portrayed the singer at his most bizarre.

A complex chain of e-mails and phone calls ensued, messages were passed, reputations were vouched for, and a few days later, Jackson’s office called to say that he would do the interview. You can tell by the art Pharrell was talking that he was very emotional to talk to Michael.
