Aphrodite Jones Defends Michael Jackson. 30-04-'10

Aphrodite Jones' "investigative report" on Michael Jackson turns out to be the admiring, near-reverential portrait Jackson once hoped to get from Martin Bashir.

Bashir is the British journalist Jackson let into his life after he was attacked by child-abuse allegations in the 1990s.

The tacit understanding was that Bashir would use his unprecedented access to show the world Jackson was a kind person who loved children and would never harm them.

Instead, Bashir famously decided during the filming that he believed there really was something troubling about Jackson's relationship with kids, and his 2003 TV documentary fed the tabloid fire, instead of quenching it.

Jones, who covered Jackson's 2005 child-molestation trial for Fox News, says Thursday that she was also among those who believed Jackson was guilty.

Not anymore.

Jones uses this hour to rip Bashir and everyone else who ever insinuated that Jackson's interest in children was anything other than loving.

She doesn't stop with simply defending Jackson's reputation. She charges that Bashir, the prosecution and the media in general might as well have put a gun to Jackson's head because she plants his death in June 2009 squarely at their feet.

Specifically, she and several of her interview subjects say, the cloud from these allegations was the main reason Jackson had trouble sleeping, which is what started him on the cycle of pills that would eventually kill him.

Captain EO Coming Soon To Disney World. 29-04-'10

After months of rave reviews, great attendance, and all-important merchandise sales following its return to Disneyland, “Captain EO,” the 3-D space fantasy film starring Michael Jackson, has been confirmed to head to Walt Disney World in Florida as well.

The 17-minute musical film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and executive produced by George Lucas, featured Jackson as the title character who leads a cast of sidekicks on a mission in space to fight the Witch Queen, played by Anjelica Huston, through song and dance. It's been regarded as the first "4-D" film, which combines 3-D film with in-house theater effects.

In the film, Jackson performs two songs, "Another Part of Me," which appeared on the album "Bad," and the attraction exclusive "We Are Here to Change the World," which was finally released to fans in 2004 as part of "The Ultimate Collection."

The return of “Captain EO” at Disneyland also saw the addition of the motion-floors installed in the current theaters, originally used for “Honey I Shrunk the Audience,” synced up to the film and music.

Walt Disney World was the first to pull “Captain EO” from its parks in 1994, and the last Disney Parks resort to confirm its return. When “Captain EO” returns to Epcot on July 2nd, it’ll have been sixteen years since it was last played in the park.

Already a hit at Disneyland in California, “Captain EO” will open in Disneyland Paris on June 12th and Tokyo Disneyland on June 30th.

MJ Estate Stops 'Heal the World' Copycat. 28-04-'10

Score another crushing victory for the Michael Jackson estate -- this time the MJ squad dropped the hammer on a woman who allegedly set up a sham Heal the World Foundation to dupe Jackson fans into buying merchandise.

TMZ has learned a Federal judge issued an injunction against Melissa Johnson -- the woman behind a Heal the World Foundation website -- requiring her to stop "exploiting Michael Jackson's name, image and likeness."

According to the court order, the judge ruled that Johnson -- who has attempted to register at least 40 trademarks with a direct connection to MJ -- operates websites that "convey to consumers a false affiliation with Michael Jackson."

As you may recall, Jackson operated a legit Heal the World Foundation back in the day, but it had been inactive for many years prior to his death.

Captain EO To Be Shown In Tokyo Disneyland. 27-04-'10

Michael Jackson’s “Captain EO” movie is jumping overseas to Tokyo Disneyland this summer, building off the popularity of the 3-D film’s return to the Anaheim park.

The Oriental Land Co., which operates Disney’s Japan theme park, announced Monday that the 3-D film would begin playing at Tokyo Disneyland starting July 1 and run a full year until June 30, 2011, according to an online press release. The 17-minute movie previously ran from 1987 to 1996, according to the release.

The Tokyo premiere at a 369-seat theater will come five days after the first anniversary of Jackson’s death.

“Captain EO,” the 1986 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, was revived at Anaheim’s Disneyland in February after a 13-year absence following the singer’s surge in popularity after his June passing.

Disney brought back the movie to Anaheim as a limited engagement, but no end date has been announced. Now, the film is scheduled to stay at least through summer and fall, said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman.

“It’s been popular enough that it will continue to run,” McClintock said.

Some online bloggers, including the Theme Park Tourist website, speculated that “Captain EO” soon could be added to other parks, as well. Disney has yet to make other announcements.

“Captain EO” took over the Tomorrowland theater where “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” used to play in Disneyland. Disney has yet to reveal what will go in the theater when “Captain EO” ends, McClintock said.

Michael Jackson's Mom Cleans House. 27-04-'10

TMZ has learned ... Katherine Jackson is downsizing the number of grandchildren in her San Fernando Valley mansion -- and the stun gun incident was the catalyst.
Sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ ... Katherine has told Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza -- who is currently living at the estate, along with two of her kids by Randy Jackson and two others by Jermaine Jackson -- that she must take the kids and move out of the estate next week, because supervising seven children is just too much for the 79-year-old grandmother.

But don't think Katherine is heartless. It's the opposite. She's moving Alejandra, along with Jaafar, Jermajesty, Donte and Randy Jr. to a San Fernando Valley condo owned by the estate.
We're told the move was prompted by the stun gun incident last month. TMZ broke the story that 13-year-old Jaafar bought a stun gun online and fired it in the house. Sources say Jaafar pointed the gun at two of Michael's kids, but the family denies that.

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services came to the estate, took the gun and interviewed people in the home, and it became apparent seven kids were too much for Katherine to handle.

So as of next week, Prince, Paris and Blanket will have the run of the mansion, unobstructed.

Quincy Jones Explains Why Epic Didn't Want Him To Produce Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'.

If anyone tells you they know how to sell 60 million records, they don’t,” stated the legendary Quincy Jones during an engaging Q&A conducted by rapper Ludacris at the ASCAP Expo in Los Angeles, April 23.

And he should know. Jones, who is the mastermind producer/arranger/composer behind such projects as Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “We are the World,” stressed to the audience of songwriters and producers that the only righteous artistic path is following your heart, not the money. “You do something that gives you goose bumps and you love. It works out or it doesn’t.”

Of course, it’s “worked out” a lot for Jones, who, at 77, is celebrating six decades of making music. Like John Mayer, who was interviewed at the Expo on Thursday, Jones stressed the importance of learning your craft to build upon your talent, not suppress it. “There are only 12 notes,” he said. “I spent 20 to 30 years learning to be a good musician.”

**Epic Records did not want Jones to produce “Thriller.” He and Michael had worked together on the Broadway play “The Wiz.” “Back then, Michael was listening. I started watching him at rehearsals. He knew everyone’s moves,” said Jones. When it came time to go into the studio, Epic felt Jones was too “jazzy. They said ‘Get Gamble and Huff.” That’s when I learned the power of being underestimated,” Jones said with a laugh.

Spike Lee To Honor The King of Pop With Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson. 23-04-'10

According to gossip rag PopEater, brilliant and controversial filmmaker Spike Lee is apparently in the works of developing a Michael Jackson tribute film to be called BROOKLYN LOVES MICHAEL JACKSON.

Lee, apparently so shook up from the death of the pop musician, took his grief to the word processor and began hammering out a script.

While doing press for the film MOTHER AND CHILD, Samuel L. Jackson - who reportedly has a role in Lee's film - explained that the movie will be about people who want to throw a concert in Brooklyn for Michael "and the new gentrified people that live in the neighborhood (who) are worried about the kind of element that might be coming into the neighborhood."

Showbiz 411 actually reported on this at the beginning of the month. They add that along with Samuel L. Jackson, John Turturro, Julianne Moore, and Rosie Perez are also lined up to star.

IMDb has the film tentatively listed for a 2012 release.

Michael Jackson: In Search Of Neverland. 23-04-'10

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host, Robin Leach, called it the 'sale of the century'. It was the real estate transaction that made Michael Jackson the owner of what would come to be called the Neverland Ranch. I am the realtor who made that sale. This story is about Michael Jackson, whom I first met when he was in his teens, and how I helped the King of Pop make his dreams come true and acquire his dream home, Neverland Ranch.

Michael Jackson was one of the most brilliant men I have ever known in my life, certainly not the Wacko Jacko described in the media. He was so thoughtful and decisive as a client that he was a joy to work with. He is the only celebrity client that really knew what he wanted - where, when and how. I hope this exclusive telling of my friendship with Michael and the extraordinary adventure that was the search for Neverland will reveal his true motivations and intentions, and it is my hope that you will enjoy this book about Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.

About the Author
Gloria Rhoads Berlin began her life in Hollywood as an actress, but then transitioned into publicity and journalism, writing for magazines such as Hollywood Times, Hollywood Night Life, and Hollywood Entertainer Weekly. By the 1970s, Gloria had moved on to real estate, and she and her late husband Morton W. Berlin formed the Merlin Land Investment Corp.

Gloria's primary focus in real estate became listing and selling luxury residential homes, paving the way for her to become the broker on the sale of the century, Michael Jackson's purchase of the ranch that came to be known as Neverland.

Rebbie Tells Today Show How Kids Are Coping. 23-04-'10

Michael's big sister, Rebbie Jackson, spoke to the Today Show's Matt Lauer on Thursday about how Michael's children are really coping 10 months after the sudden, tragic death of the King of Pop.

Rebbie said that Prince, 13; Paris, 12; and Blanket, 8, are thriving and continuing the process of emotional healing after losing their father. Michael raised the children in a protective cocoon and now the Jackson family continue to insulate them from the world.

“They’re with family members,” Rebbie said. “They’re insulated, you might say, and surrounded with a lot of cousins. I think it’s helping them to be stable, but it’s very difficult.”

Rebbie moved in with her mother, Katherine Jackson, in Los Angeles for nearly three months after Michael’s death last June in order to help care for the children and get them settled in. She said she continues to see them as often as she can, commuting from her Las Vegas home to their home in Los Angeles.

She said the kids went through a very difficult time in the days and weeks immediately following their father's death.

“It was very difficult. It was very hard,” Rebbie said. “But yet, day by day you could see the progress of family members getting better and dealing with the situation better and feeling more serene about it.”

Now, she said, “They seem to be doing fine.”

Rebbie also said there may be some surprises in store when Dr. Conrad Murray goes on trial for his role in her brother’s death.

“There’s an ongoing investigation, so I have to be very careful about what I say. But I think there’s going to be some interesting results for everyone."

Rebbie said she has been kept abreast of the police investigation. Asked if Murray is the only person implicated, she responded,

“I think it’s a lot more than that possibly. We’ll find out. I can’t say too much, but it’s interesting what’s going on.”

MJ Estate To Publicist: You're Not Getting A Cent! 20-04-'10

Michael Jackson's former right-hand woman just tasted a $44,000,000 defeat -- after MJ's estate rejected 2 creditors' claims she filed earlier this year.

Raymone Bain -- Jackson's longtime publicist/manager/friend -- had filed the docs claiming MJ owed her more than $44 mil in back wages and profit sharing.

But today, MJ's estate finally got back to Bain -- with a big, fat, rejection stamp.

Bain is the latest in a series of creditors' claims to be denied by the estate -- with more denials expected to be on the way shortly.

The Sister Who Mothered Michael Jackson. 19-04-'10

Rebbie Jackson may be the least-known performer out of Michael Jackson’s siblings, but aside from his parents, she likely had the biggest influence on the King of Pop.

When she was a teenager, her mother, Katherine, went back to school, leaving her — the oldest of the nine children — in charge of caring for the brood.

“I’m very much the big sister,” Jackson tells The Post. “I helped raise a lot of them. I took care of them and administered the disciplinary action.”

Memories of her role as caregiver in the family’s Gary, Ind., home came flooding back to Rebbie, 59, in the wake of Michael’s death on June 25.

“When he passed, I thought about him the way he was as a kid,” she says, recalling the iconic star’s cherubic smile that first brightened stages as a member of the Jackson 5 and later as a solo artist.

After her brother overdosed on the powerful sedative Propofol, Rebbie, who lives with her husband, Nathaniel Brown, in Las Vegas, canceled a string of performances. She spent two and half months in California at her brother’s and mother’s estates, comforting her family. She also resumed her role as caregiver — this time tending to Michael’s children, Prince, 13; Paris, 12; and Blanket, 8.

“I have to say, for a while, it was very difficult to listen to anything that Michael’s voice was on,” she says. “That’s pretty tough to escape. Everywhere you go — food markets, departments stores, TV and radio — they are playing his music.”

Nearly a year later, Rebbie says she still wakes up in the middle of the night haunted by the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death. His doctor, Conrad Murray, currently awaits trial on manslaughter charges for his role in administering the fatal narcotic and facilitating the legendary singer’s addiction.

“My brother had a problem with drugs, and he was in denial,” Rebbie says. “There were many interventions by the family members, and I was involved in a lot of that. It was such a sad thing and it hurt so bad.”

Time has healed at least some wounds. She is back listening to her brother’s music, and she’s ready to sing. In her stage return, she will headline a tribute show to the Temptations at the Mellow Theater in Scranton, Pa. She plans to perform songs by the legendary Motown group, hits by the Gloved One and numbers from her own catalog.

Rebbie got a later start in show business than her brothers. While they were dancing and singing as a group in the late 1960s and early 1970s, she was married and raising a family in Kentucky.

She first performed with her siblings in 1974 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, singing “Fever,” a sultry incantation that she plans on dusting off for the April 24 show.

Rebbie recalls Michael bringing her the lyrics and the choreography before the show.

“I learned that song actually on the set. He started chanting the lyrics,” she says. “When you are really involved with the music, it’s whatever comes out of your mouth.”

The mother of three didn’t put out her first album, “Centipede,” until she was 34. Michael produced the record, which eventually went gold, and wrote some of the songs.

Rebbie released three more albums — her last coming in 1998. The soulful chanteuse says she has no plans to release another one any time soon, but is hoping for a reunion tour with her siblings.

“It’s not set in stone, but the sky is the limit,” she says. “I know it would be fun. That would be something I’d really love to be involved with.”

Tracy Morgan Owns An Official MJ Glove. 17-04-'10

Comedian Tracy Morgan has struck it rich - he owns one of Michael Jackson's original jeweled gloves.

The comedian's Death at a Funeral co-star, Luke Wilson, scoffed at the fact Morgan had paid $17,000 for the pop culture memorabilia item - but now he's convinced Morgan is sitting on a small fortune.

Wilson said, "It was right when Michael Jackson had announced that he was gonna do those shows in London before he passed away and Tracy was like, 'You know I bought Mike's glove - the one from the Thriller video,' and I was like, 'Really? You bought that. How much did that cost you?' He was like, '$17,000!' "

"I was like, 'Man, you got ripped off.' And then Michael Jackson died and I read in the paper that it's worth $43,000 now. Seriously."

Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson had filed a claim with the estate, but he's not asking for money -- he wants a DNA test proving he's MJ's flesh and blood.

But as we first reported, Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the estate, formally rejected a bunch of claims yesterday, including the one from P.M.M.J.J.

We're told more rejections are coming, so stay tuned.

Conrad Murray's New Rx Problem. 14-04-'10

Dr. Conrad Murray has more medical issues ...TMZ has learned. This time Nevada is after him.

We've learned the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners has contacted the Texas Medical Board, asking for info on how Texas was able to legally restrict his license so quickly.

TMZ broke the story .... the Texas Medical Board prohibited Murray last Friday from administering Propofol or other heavy sedatives. The restriction -- which Dr. Murray himself signed off on -- reflects his bail restrictions in California while he awaits trial in the death of Michael Jackson.

A source connected with Dr. Murray tells TMZ they fully expect Nevada to impose a similar condition and Dr. Murray will gladly agree to the restriction.

Akon Says MJ "Was Never Satisfied". 13-04-'10

In the past few years, the hip hop celebrity Akon once had a chance to work with the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. The two recorded many songs together, which were supposed to appear in Michael Jackson's upcoming new album. Akon said that it was a joyful thing to work with Michael Jackson, because this king is not selfish, but he is a perfectionist.

"In studio many memories we have are about work, because he focuses too much on finding proper materials to have no time relaxing ourselves." For example, we would chat but we rarely joked because at that kind of moment, whatever we were doing, the state was always let's be serious and do what we come here for. That the state is let's do what a serious reason why we come here to do it.

The co-operation of Akon with Jackson was to write a memorable song for the king. There were many sparkles between the two. "Every thing carried on around the music, we are both the guy paying much attention on music. We would hum the rhythm and then made some adjustments for it." Expressed Akon.

However, discrepancy happened between them about whether the song was good enough to meet the fans. As for this, Michael was slightly critical although Akon knew these songs were absolutely great masterpieces as usual; nonetheless, Michael did not seem to get the new songs released. "He was never satisfied. For instance, if we missed something that must be popular, he would say, 'no, no, we would meet something much better than this.'

We would never achieve the better things he said, for he expected too much; We almost can't publish the album forever, because he always believes we can do better.

Dr. Murray Lawyers Up For Wrongful Death Suit. 13-04-'10

Dr. Conrad Murray is already planning his legal strategy in a Michael Jackson wrongful death case ... TMZ has learned.

Dr. Murray, we're told, has already hired a civil lawyer, Charles Peckham, who handles medical board cases and wrongful death lawsuits.

We've learned Peckham has already been in touch with Dr. Murray's malpractice insurance carrier, and it turns out to be a tricky situation.

Sources connected with Dr. Murray's defense tell TMZ Dr. Murray had a malpractice policy issued in Texas that covered his medical practices in Texas and Nevada.

Here's the rub. Dr. Murray did not have a medical practice in California, which is a prerequisite for his malpractice coverage. So Dr. Murray's position is that he first saw Michael Jackson as a Nevada patient and what he did for him in L.A. was merely an extension of the Nevada treatment.

We've learned the malpractice policy would only cover civil litigation, not criminal. In the event the doctor is sued for wrongful death -- and Joe Jackson promises that will happen soon -- Murray expects the policy would cover attorney's fees and any judgment.

Michael Jackson Wacky Claims Rejected. 13-04-'10

TMZ has learned Michael Jackson's estate has rejected 7 creditor's claims, including one for a whopping $300,000,000.

Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the estate, just filed legal papers rejecting Allgood Entertainment's $300 mil claim over a Jackson family concert that got derailed because of the ill-fated London concerts.

Now for the wacky ones:

First up, Jose Freddie Vallejos, a pissed-off private citizen who wants $3.3 million so he can reimburse the City of L.A. for the Jackson memorial.

Next, Claire McMillan, who wants more than $2 million for her home schooling services.

Nona Paris Lola Ankhesenamun Jackson claims to have been married to MJ and wants custody of the 3 kids ... the estate is telling her to pound sand.

And then there's Richard Lapointe, who wants $5 mil for an MJ memorabilia auction that was canceled.

Helen Harris-Scott has also been told to take a hike. She's demanding $50 mil because she claims Jackson had her phone wiretapped and had organized criminals watch her.

News reports that the late king of pop has slept with his eyes open and the testament from his former spouses will be used by Dr. Conrad Murray's defence lawyers as he battles such charges.

Debbie Rowe, mother of Michael's eldest kids Prince and Paris, along with other ex wife Presley and nanny Grace Rwaramba, will be questioned during the Murray trial.

The charges arose from allegations that Murray, 56, injected the 'Billie Jean' star with more than the prescribed dosage of Propofol.

Sources say cardiologists presented evidence that Jackson would appear dopey and asleep with eyes open after consuming med's, and would require that the ex wives would verify such occurrences. His doctors would also be questioned as to how the late star would sleep after being knocked out, which would prove beneficial to the defence.

Michael Jackson Slept With His Eyes Open? 11-04-'10

Michael Jackson’s ex-wives will be called to testify in Dr. Murray’s homicide case as the man attending to the King of Pop after he overdosed on Propofol aims to prove how difficult it was to tell whether the singer was asleep last June since he slept with his eyes open.

“We are going to call the significant others in Jackson’s life to talk about his long-term drug use and behavior,” a defense source told News of the World. “We’ve found he would appear dopey and sleep with his eyes open when he had taken med's.

We want the women closest to him to verify this.”

MJ Most Trusted Flack Files Estate Claim. 10-04-'10

Michael Jackson's longtime publicist/manager/friend has jumped on the creditor's claim train ... and wants $360,000 from the Michael Jackson estate.

Raymone Bain worked for Jackson for many years and says her salary was $30,000 a month. According to legal papers, Bain claims she wasn't paid at all in 2008.

Bain filed a $44 million lawsuit against Michael Jackson just shy of two months before he died, claiming she did everything for Michael and was grossly shortchanged.

Bain, who is quite the character in her own right, credits herself in the documents as "personal general manager to Michael J. Jackson."

'Nuff said.

Wesley Snipes Wants Michael Jackson To Return As Angel. 09-04-'10

Wesley Snipes wants Michael Jackson to come back as an angel.

The ‘Blade’ actor, who appeared in the late singer’s ‘Bad’ video in 1987 – was devastated when he died last June at the age of 50 and would like him to return because he was so special.

He said, “I danced in the video for ‘Bad’. His death was a great loss for all of us. And I hope and pray that his creator – or whatever you believe in – will send him back as an angel to entertain us. With Michael we lost more than an ‘ordinary’ person. There has to be something angelic about someone who reached and inspired so many different people all over the world. Maybe we just didn’t look after him well enough.”

Another hero of Wesley’s is legendary soul singer James Brown, who died in 2006, and is currently working on a movie about his life.

He told website Skip.at, “We’re working on it. It’s on the way, but we are trying to figure out how to finance it at the moment. I guess I’ll give you James Brown when the world ends in 2012!”

The 47-year-old star is so keen to portray the ‘Sex Machine’ hitmaker in a realistic way, he has been practicing his famous scream.

He said, “That’s easy! I started as a dancer and singer and where I come from James Brown and Michael Jackson were very influential. We literally listened to them every day, so I can certainly do the screams.”
