Michael Jackson Free Fan Event Planned For Monday In New York. 08-12-'10

Even in death, Michael Jackson continues to collide with Paul McCartney.

I’m told that Sony has scheduled a listening party for their new Jackson album, called “Michael,” for December 13th.

That’s the same night that McCartney is making an historic appearance at the Apollo Theater to promote the 35th anniversary release of “Band on the Run.”

Oy.

The Jackson event is tentatively scheduled for the Roseland Ballroom on West 52nd St. And even though Michael won’t be there, my guess is the place will be full. No word yet on how to buy tickets or how much they might cost.

The event is FREE to fans. It’s first come, first serve, although some fans will get tickets if they buy albums through Best Buy. I’m not sure how that will work since the album is released the next day, but I guess it will be explained. I am told that some of the producers and musicians who worked on the CD will be there.

McCartney and Jackson’s feud goes back to the mid 1980s, when Michael asked his lawyer, John Branca, to buy the Beatles song catalog. He did, and the rest is history. Or misery, depending on how you look at it.

Meantime, the “Band on the Run” gift box- with the remastered CD, unreleased tracks and DVD–is really great. It’s as good a gift as the Beatles box set for McCartney fans. And on Sunday night, those fans included Steven Tyler, James Taylor, Mavis Staples and Gwen Stefani–all of whom serenaded McCartney with his hits at his Kennedy Center induction.

PS Don’t start calling Roseland today. They have no info yet.

Judge Removed Herself From The Airplane Videotaping Case. 08-12-'10

A judge removed herself from the retrial of a lawsuit against XtraJet’s owner Jeffrey Borer, accused of secretly videotaping Michael Jackson and his attorneys.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Soussan Brugera said she wanted to avoid any appearance of impropriety. In 2008, Brugera awarded $20 million to two attorneys (Mark Geragos and Pat Harris) who claimed now-defunct Xtrajet and its owner, Jeffrey Borer, violated their privacy during in 2003 flight when they and Michael were videotaped.

The judgment was overturned on appeal but one lawyer filed for a retrial rather than accept a much smaller award. The trial is set to begin February 14th, 2011.

Taryll Jackson And Teddy Riley Have Disagreement Over Michael On Twitter. 07-12-'10

Following the Oprah Winfrey show about Michael’s new album Michael Taryll Jackson commented on Twitter about Teddy Riley. In return Teddy replied via Twitter.

Both men are pretty clear about each other. Taryll says he heard Teddy lie on the Oprah show. Teddy says Taryll is just blabbering about MJ.

I’ve always admired the talent of Teddy Riley, but after hearing him lie on Oprah I am terribly disappointed.

I remember when Teddy and I were at Encore listening to KYHU. We both knew it wasn’t my Uncle. He stopped working on it because (and I quote) “it didn’t sound enough like Michael. Michael doesn’t swing like that.” He also said he was only working on the Cascio records in hopes that he would eventually be given a “real Michael Jackson song.” As he knows, I never agreed with that logic. I’ll never forget when Teddy called me telling me, “I’m so excited, I finally got a ‘Michael record.’ It’s called Hollywood Tonight and it’s him.”

Frank hurt and betrayed my Uncle years ago, so when I learned about Eddie I wasn’t completely shocked. The names are different but the story’s the same. People taking advantage of my Uncle and now his legacy. I wish Oprah would have asked about the ridiculous amount these FAKE songs were sold to the estate for.

I will always love, protect and stand by my Uncle. I will forever be loyal to him and NOTHING can change that.

Taryll Jackson on Twitter

I can go on with tons…message to Taryll pls stop while he’s ahead.

Pls god hld me bk. He knows how he was blabbering him mouth about MJ in front of everyone about how much he know his uncle. Cont.

And how we’re gonna get sued. He’s Not right and he needs to move on and pursue his career. This is what people will remember you as. Cont.

God bless and your future endeavors T.

Why didn’t he sued like he said? Cause he’s in denial…and I truly understand why, which is why I can’t go on to tell the truth about him.

(reply to follower) All I did was listen to him blabbering him mouth about what he don’t really know about his own uncle. Let the truth be told.

Management consistently inquired about him going to see and talk to him uncle and he didn’t. Now, leave me alone b4 it gets worse.

On this Twitter, I am not Teddy the producer…I am Teddy the true believer of MJ n ur friend. You go hard on me I go harder. U love I love.

(replies to several followers)
-Jxn family got NO evidence. Different reports saying it’s Michaels voice, engineers like B Swedien saying its him..
- I don’t talk to people who think they know it all, don’t know about protecting family, stubborn. Cont.
- There are many Jacksons in the family…I would’ve if he didnt come on Twitter dis-crediting me. Cont.
- I never done anything to him. As I said we were friends til I didn’t take his side. I chose the truth.
- I’m good dear…I see and you all see the jealousy and look who’s coming out. I’m done…check my blog when my peep finish it.

Joe Vogel Reviews "Michael". 06-12-'10

Author and journalist Joe Vogel posted a unique song-by-song review of "Michael" on the Huffington Post website today. The following is an excerpt from that review:

"Indeed, for all the controversy about its authenticity, going through the album song by song, Jackson's presence is undeniable. His habits, his obsessions, his versatility, and his genius are on display at every turn.

Who else could move so seamlessly from social anthem to floor burner, fleet hip hop to cosmic rock, vintage funk to poignant folk ballad? Who besides Michael Jackson would follow a tender love song with a trenchant critique of the media? An uplifting gospel tune with a ferocious polemic on the monstrosity of Hollywood culture?

This, ultimately, is the most important quality of Michael: it feels like Michael.

The Estate and Sony should be given credit for retaining much of Jackson's edginess and eclecticism where they could have easily opted for a more traditional lineup. (For all the uproar over "Breaking News," I thought it was a pretty bold statement out of the gate in terms of its lyrical target.)

The album also contains some nice, natural touches, including Jackson's incredibly dynamic beatboxing (displayed most prominently on "Hollywood Tonight"), and a phone message introduction to "(I Like) The Way You Love Me," in which Jackson explains the composition of the song to longtime collaborator, Brad Buxer. The point of these examples is that Jackson the artist and person doesn't get swallowed in "over-production," as some have feared. In spite of its limitations, from opening line ("This life don't last forever...") to closing ("I guess I learned my lesson much too soon") a very intimate, authentic, humanizing picture evolves."

Dr. Conrad Murray Hangs On To Medical License. 05-12-'10

Dr. Conrad Murray will retain his medical license after a meeting with the Nevada State Medical Board on Friday, after proving to the board he was up-to-date on child support payments.

According to Murray's rep, the telephonic meeting with the board ends their inquiry into Dr. Murray.

This all stems from issues related to child support he owed his baby mama. Dr. Murray had stated on his medical license he was in full compliance on support, when technically he was not. A rep for Murray tells TMZ .... Murray had felt he was in compliance at the time since was in negotiations with his baby mama's lawyers.

Back in June, the board stipulated that Dr. Murray cannot prescribe or administer any anesthetic agent normally administered by an anaesthesiologist ... and that includes Propofol. A similar restriction is in place on his license in California.

Video Game Designer Talks About MJ. 05-12-'10

Before he passed away, Michael Jackson was working on an idea for a video game with legendary video game designer, David Perry, who recently spoke about working with Jackson.

That game, which became Michael Jackson: The Experience, is expected to be as big as the release of a Michael Jackson album and Perry says that Jackson would have wanted it that way.

“I was working with Michael on an idea to release a brand new album as a game. It was one of those 'big ideas' and would have introduced millions of new players to the video game industry, that was the goal,” Perry said.

“He was going to help promote it on a grand scale. We worked on a design and I even brought an industry friend up there to Neverland to help with the work. The timing was terrible however as this was when the 2nd round of allegations happened and everything went to a standstill."

Michael Jackson: The Experience is already available in the Wii and PSP versions and will soon make it's debut for PS3.

50 Cent Talks About Working On 'Michael'. 04-12-'10

50 Cent is one of the three featured guests in Michael Jackson's upcoming posthumous album which is due in the U.S. on December 14. The rapper joins forces with Michael in a track called "Monster", and he calls the collaboration as the 2010 version of MJ's iconic "Thriller".

Fiddy recalled how the duet happened. "I didn't have the opportunity to physically be in Michael Jackson's presence," he said. "But my DJ, Whoo Kid, he had the opportunity to actually meet Mike, because he was interested in working with me and he said that he had something he wanted me to actually hear, a song he created."

After Michael died last year, Fiddy was invited to record his portion in the track. "When I sat down and listened to the actual song, I was excited. I said, 'This is the 2010 version of Thriller'," he stated. Missing the chance to really be in the same room with Michael, he wanted to make "something more."

"I made adjustments to my cadence so I don't sound like I sound on music that people have previously heard from me, because I'm adjusting to the production," he explained, promising the track will introduce a different side of him and at the same time satisfying the fans of the late King of Pop.

Despite all the controversies surrounding "Michael" CD, Fiddy is adamant that the album is "special." He added, "It'll be embraced different because it's the last of really great material that Mike created, so I think people will want it to go in their actual collection to go in their Michael Jackson material. It's a great example of how the art and the material will last longer than we will."

Michael Jackson – The Vuvuzela Experience Against Piracy. 04-12-'10

Ubisoft has reached into the depths of evil to protect Michael Jackson: The Experience from portable piracy.

If you watched the World Cup (the world’s soccer tournament), you probably already know the horror of the vuvuzela. Ubisoft surely does, and evidently uses the noise emitted from the incredibly annoying object to deter people from pirating Michael Jackson: The Experience on the Nintendo DS.

A vuvuzela is a long plastic horn that emits a buzz which will follow you to your nightmares after hearing it. The “instrument” took over the World Cup in 2010, much to the chagrin of everyone not blowing into one.

According to a video released on YouTube, anybody not playing a legitimate copy of the DS version of The Experience will hear Michael’s music with no lyrics, and a vuvuzela playing over the beat instead. Believe it or not, a vuvuzela can even destroy a classic like Michael’s “Billie Jean.”

Michael At The Top In The UK. 03-12-'10

Michael is now hotly tipped to return to the top of the charts at Christmas with the new album Michael, beating comeback superstars Take That. Pre-orders for the album Michael put him well ahead in the run-up to the festive season. Michael has had the biggest pre-order of any of his albums, and is No1 across the board on all pre-order charts. His website was also the most viewed music site in the UK last month, with fans crashing it a record 25 times.

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said: “There’s a huge chance Michael will sneak in and get the top spot from Take That. Take That have sold over one million copies already, but someone of Michael Jackson’s status, with his fan base, has a massive chance of knocking them off. His fans are so excited. Like Elvis, it keeps adding to the MJ momentum.”

Joe Jackson Compromises Wrongful Death Claim. 02-12-'10

Joe Jackson may have just dug himself a hole to China during a TV appearance in Brazil ... by telling the host Michael Jackson "never supported me."

During the interview on "Hoje em Dia," the interviewer incorrectly said, "According to TMZ, you were being supported by Michael." Joe responded, "No, he never supported me."

The statement flies in the face of his claim in the Michael Jackson Estate case ... that Michael did indeed support him -- which is why Joe asked for an allowance.

Even more serious for Joe, by admitting MJ never supported him, it could severely compromise his wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray. Joe's statement could severely limit his monetary claim, because now he can't show he lost money when Michael died.

TMZ previously reported, Michael didn't support his dad, but he gave Katherine $50,000 - $66,000 a month ... and she would then use that money to pay for Joe's living expenses.

MJ Movie Distributor Accused Of Screwing Canada. 02-12-'10

The good people of Canada never had a chance to view the Michael Jackson documentary, "Gone Too Soon" -- and now the owners of the flick are declaring war on the distributor ... claiming he personally screwed the entire country.

TMZ obtained a lawsuit filed by Objective Films, LLC -- in which they claim they agreed to sell the French and Canadian distribution rights to a company headed by a guy named Pierre Turgeon for $100k back in 2009.

Objective says they got the first $50k -- but Turgeon flaked on the back half ... and then tried to back out of the deal altogether. Objective was able to get the flick distributed in France ... Canada wasn't so lucky.
In the suit, Objective claims Turgeon never really wanted to do legitimate business -- but simply used the company so he could use the affiliation with the Michael Jackson movie to inflate the stock price in his company.

Turgeon tells a different story -- saying, "The movie was bad ... so we applied the clause (in our contract) that enabled us to not pick up the rights to the movie."

He adds, "We paid in advance in good faith $50,000 for the project ... We plan to get back our $50,000."

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Lawsuit Refiled. 01-12-'10

If at first you don't succeed ... Joe Jackson has refiled the Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray.

A federal judge threw out Joe's claim, ruling the case should have been filed in a California state court. So Joe's lawyer has now refiled the case in L.A. County Superior Court.

Joe is alleging that Dr. Murray was negligent in administering the Propofol that killed the singer.

Joe is also suing Applied Pharmacy Services in Las Vegas, that sold the drug to Murray.

Taryll Jackson Tells About Buying Music With Uncle Michael. 01-12-'10

“Much Too Soon” – At a very early age my Uncle taught me to appreciate and study all types of music. I remember going to the music stores with him and he would pull cd’s for me “Do you know this? (Carole King… Tapestry) have you heard of them? (Bread) oh I love this…(Jim Croce’s.. I have to say I love you in a song)” we would walk down the aisles of every section… it was like homework for me. He gave me a little at a time and when I was ready for more he would give me a whole new list.

“There’s so many styles… study it all, don’t limit yourself.” – I would leave the store with a wide variety with anything from Tchikovsky’s Nutcracker to Queen. When we got home or in the car we would listen to it. Some songs would weaken him and touch his heart while others would make him sing and dance!! He was always teaching me and I am so thankful for all of his lessons in both music and life. – this is what came to my mind when I first heard “Much Too Soon.” I love this style of music and I can appreciate it because of you. I love you MJ.

Japanese R&B artist A.I. announced during a special 10th anniversary show that she will perform and emcee a tribute show to Michael Jackson starring brothers Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Jermaine. The show is slated for next October, with 2 shows in Tokyo. It is reported that A.I. will also be recording new tracks with the Jacksons in early 2011.

The project began with an exchange of letters between A.I. and Katherine Jackson after meeting the family for a documentary on the King of Pop that she organized in 2010 for Music On! TV. She interviewed the family and said of the experience, “I’d been listening to their songs since I was little but once you start talking with them they make you feel like a friend." Following the viewing of the documentary, Mrs. Jackson wrote A.I. a letter of thanks.

“I felt like I didn’t do anything, they had done it for me,” says A.I. “But she thanked me for making a nice show and I knew I had to write something back. I wanted to say ‘thank you, I love you, thank you.’ I was just happy to meet them and let the people know what Michael was like as a person and what is it like inside the family."

She added, "After I did that I listened to more of the Jackson 5 from back in the day. I thought that would be great to sing and dance with the people who were around Michael, especially his family."

Several letters crossed back and forth and a tribute show idea began to grow. Mrs. Jackson stated in a letter to A.I. that "Japan was one of Michael’s favorite places in the world. He loved visiting your beautiful country and always felt much love from his millions of fans. By means of having Michael’s brothers headlining the Tokyo Tribute it would provide Michael Jackson’s followers with a true and complete perspective of Michael’s artistic career and life as a brother.”

Along with a tribute show, A.I. and the Jacksons are in discussions to record songs together. Says A.I. "We haven’t talked about the kind of song yet, whether it will be for Michael, or about us but we think it will be nice to have one of the producers that Michael used to work with. We met with Teddy Riley, he’s been making music for a long time, but he also makes current music.”

The hope is to produce a tribute show to showcase the Jacksons music over the years, with some new songs thrown in, and to let each of the brothers' personalities shine through.

The Michael Jackson tribute show is tentatively scheduled for the 14th and 15th of October, 2011 . A number of special guests will fill out the performance, but specific details have yet to be released, including whether or not the show would go on tour.
