Producer Jamie King Talks About Upcoming Show. 31-05-'12

In an exclusive interview to Robin Leach, producer Jamie King talked about the progress of Cirque du Soleil's second Michael Jackson show, which will become a resident attraction at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino in Las Vegas (USA) one year from now. Although he already directed "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour" which is currently on tour worldwide the new show will be a totally new experience:

"That will be a different feel completely, altogether. I am already excited, but not yet confident. I'll get there, though. Right now, I'm just excited. I am excited about being here at Mandalay Bay and doing the theatrical version of Michael’s show. I've already walked the theater. It's under construction, but for now it looks a mess. It has much potential, and I am excited for the future.

There is no official name yet for the show, so it's just the Michael Jackson 2013 show. We are in pre-production now, and at the end of September, early October, I'll be relocating to Montreal for about three to four months. I'll stay there through the holidays, and then we'll all come to Vegas. I will live here for a while.

It will be completely different from the 'Immortal' show -- completely. This will be a theater show, not an arena production. The entire 90-plus minutes will be different from what you experienced with the touring show. I've done a whole new concept and theme. It involves many more characters and acrobatics. It will be much more fantastical and theatrical, with less arena rock 'n roll. However, you will get as much of Michael Jackson's music as we had in the touring show. I've kept some magical moments from the touring show I felt could translate here -- some bits and bobs, as you'd say!

I had to create something new, though, because the touring show will go on for a long, long time overseas while we have the permanent show here. I've sort of shot myself in the foot by having two shows for Michael Jackson, and both must be different -- and they will be."

Michael Jackson Creepy 'I Can't Sleep' Letter Yanked From Auction. 30-05-'12

A letter Michael Jackson wrote to Lisa Marie Presley -- complaining about the problem that ultimately killed the singer -- has been yanked from the auction block after Lisa Marie pitched a fit.

Lisa Marie has not said why she wanted the letter pulled, but it's pretty clear -- Michael struggled with sleep deprivation for years until he found a quick fix in the form of Propofol.

The letter -- written sometime between 1993 and 1996, reads as follows: "Smell here [arrow with box] Lisa I truly need this rest I haven't slept litterally [sic] in 4 days now. I need to be away from phones and Business people. I must take care of my health first Im' [sic] crazy for you Love Turd."

As TMZ first reported, Jackson was doctor shopping for Propofol before he hooked up with Conrad Murray.

So Julien's Auction in Beverly Hills -- the same company selling off Elvis' crypt -- has capitulated to Elvis' daughter. Owner Darren Julien tells TMZ, "I'm assuming it's a personal nature, and we wanted to honor the request and continue our good relationship with Ms. Presley."

We can read between the lines.

Michael Jackson's Bad 25 Hits Worldwide Sept. 18th. 23-05-'12

25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s landmark album Bad celebrated with September 18 release of new Bad 25 packages.
Michael’s personal VHS copy of his July 16, 1988 performance at Wembley Stadium unearthed for the release.
Newly discovered outtakes and demos from Bad album recording sessions to be released as well. #whosbad Twenty-five years after the phrase "Who's Bad" became a generation's cultural catchphrase, Epic/Legacy Recordings,
in collaboration with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will celebrate the legendary album and record breaking BAD tour on September 18, 2012 with the release of a deluxe package, BAD 25, which includes three CDs, two collectible booklets,
and features the first ever authorized DVD release of a concert from the record breaking BAD tour.

The BAD 25 anniversary deluxe edition will feature three CDs and 1 DVD as follows:

· The highlight of the package is the DVD of Michael's legendary July 16, 1988 concert at Wembley Stadium. The concert is not a compilation of performances, but rather one complete show, exactly as Michael performed it for Prince Charles, Princess Diana and the 72,000 fans who were in the audience for that night's sold out show. This show was one of the record-breaking seven nights played at the venue attended by more than half a million people – three times that many people tried to purchase tickets. The DVD was sourced from Michael Jackson's personal VHS copy of the performance as shown on the JumboTrons during the concert. This footage was only recently unearthed and is the only known copy of the show to exist. The visuals have been restored and the audio quality enhanced so that fans can share in the excitement of that famous night.

· A CD of the re-mastered original BAD album

· A CD containing previously unreleased material recorded in Michael's personal studio at Hayvenhurst. This material includes early demo versions of songs from the album as well as demos for songs not included on the final album. All of this material is being released as it was recorded during the BAD sessions. Nothing has been added. In addition, this CD will also include new remixes from internationally renowned DJ/producers.

· A CD showcasing the audio from the sound truck recordings of the July 16th Wembley performance. The first-ever live Michael Jackson CD to be released, this is the only concert from the BAD Tour known to exist on multi tracks.

This magnificent 3 CD/1 DVD box set will also include two extensive booklets with yet unseen photos from the recording sessions, video sets and the concert tour, the original BAD cover art, a two-sided poster and more. A BAD 25 two CD standard edition featuring the original album plus the CD of demos and new remixes will also be made available as will a stand alone edition of the DVD and a picture disc of the original album.

On June 5 in the U.S. (June 4th ex-U.S.), Epic / Legacy Recordings will re-release the original first single from the album "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as a CD Single with a previously unreleased bonus track from the BAD sessions, "Don't Be Messin' 'Round (demo)." This is a Wal-Mart exclusive CD single in the U.S. and will not be available digitally.

On June 26 a replica edition of the original 7" vinyl of this single with the original B-side "Baby Be Mine" will be made available to the world. The first single for BAD, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," was originally released on 7" vinyl in 1987. The 7" single edit of the song has only been available on that original 7" vinyl until now.

Recently, Pepsi announced an exclusive global partnership with the Estate of Michael Jackson as part of its new "Live for Now" campaign. Starting this month, Michael Jackson and Pepsi fans in more than 20 countries around the world will experience this partnership in a variety of ways, including a retail campaign featuring one billion special edition Michael Jackson Bad 25 Pepsi cans, live events, and opportunities for fans to access special edition merchandise and new music from BAD.

The BAD album was the third Michael Jackson album produced by Quincy Jones and was originally released on August 31, 1987. It was monumental in many ways; Michael wrote nine of the album's eleven tracks and received co-producer credit for the entire album. The album was #1 around the world, made history with five consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard chart, produced ten chart-topping singles, nine ground breaking short films and to date, the Bad album has generated over 45 Million units in sales. BAD was nominated for six Grammy's and won two; the album earned Michael the first-ever Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMA Awards. Songs on the original album are: "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Speed Demon," "Liberian Girl," "Just Good Friends" featuring Stevie Wonder, "Another Part of Me," "Man in the Mirror," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Dirty Diana," "Smooth Criminal," with "Leave Me Alone" added to the album once released.

The BAD World Tour was Michael's first concert tour as a solo artist. The legendary tour included 123 concerts attended by more than 4.4 million fans over sixteen months. When it concluded, the tour had shattered all previous touring records for attendance and total gross revenue adding three new entries in the Guinness World Records for the largest grossing tour in history, the tour with the largest attended audience and the most sold out shows at Wembley Stadium.

More details on this and other exciting projects relating to BAD's 25th anniversary will be announced soon.

Donna Summer Dies At Age 63. 17-05-'12

AEG Trial Postponed. 16-05-'12

On Tuesday, a judge postponed the trial of the promoters of Michael Jackson's ill-fated 2009 concert residency. The trial has been pushed back to next year.

Lawyers for AEG Live won a postponement of the trial, which had been set for September, until next April, after arguing that they need more time to prepare their case.

Jackson’s mother Katherine – who claims that AEG Live pushed her son too hard to prepare for a series of 50 shows in London – had asked for a speedy trial. But attorneys for AEG Live filed a request with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos last week for the trial to be delayed, saying they needed more time due to the complexity of the case.

Specifically, Mrs. Jackson alleges AEG was negligent in letting the superstar be cared for by doctor Conrad Murray, who was jailed for four years last November over Jackson’s death from an overdose of a powerful hospital anesthetic.

Palazuelos ruled in their favor, pushing the trial back from September 10 this year to April 2, 2013.

After the ruling, Jackson family lawyer Kevin Boyle said he could still seek a priority trial date, but suggested that the delay could actually help his clients.

“That way we keep obtaining more information, it might be beneficial,” he said.

Only In America: Piers Morgan On Michael Jackson, The Artist. 16-05-'12

On Monday, Piers Morgan used his “Only in America” segment to paint a rarely seen picture of Michael Jackson, one detailed through the stars personal collection of artwork. ”Few have ever seen it until now,” explained Morgan. “This is Michael’s private world of paintings and portraits. We’ve been given rare and extraordinary access inside that hanger. Its location, as I say, has to remain a secret.” Guiding viewers through Michael’s supplies and materials, the host shows a quieter side to the “King of Pop.”

“This is how the icon found happiness away from the stage and studio, with brushes, pencils and, in particular, watercolor,” noted the “Piers Morgan Tonight” host. “He wanted to be known as an artist, not just the most famous entertainer in modern history.”

Estimated to be worth upwards of nine figures, Michael sketched everything from Peter Pan to the Statue of Liberty, the number seven. And he also found truth in the words of famed sculptor Michelangelo, clinging to a message that reads: “I know the creator will go, but his work survives. That is why to escape death, I attempt to bind my soul to my work.” In the words of Morgan, “Only in America”: “Michael Jackson did not escape death, but his soul does live on in the music and art he created and above all, the lives he touched and forever changed.”

Katherine Jackson To Appear On Piers Morgan. 15-05-'12

Piers Morgan invites Katherine Jackson into the studio for a candid and revealing face to face interview.

Joining "Piers Morgan Tonight" for an hour long, worldwide exclusive, Michael Jackson's mother addresses her son's legal troubles and prescription medication use, evaluating the role each may have played in the stars 2009 death:

"I think a lot of that was exaggerated, about the different things that he was taking, because I've been to my son's house unannounced and I've been there announced," explains the 82-year-old matriarch. "I have never seen him in that way. I know he was taking painkillers, because he got burnt on the top of his head. Very painful. But all this other stuff they added to it, I don't know if that was the truth or not. But I don't think that have anything to do with the way he died."

Dance Your Way To Fitness…Thousands Groove To Thriller. 13-05-'12

Michael Jackson’s hit song Thriller can get anyone on their toes and move the shoulders. Set against the iconic backdrop of Burj Khalifa, a few thousand dancers grooved to the song at the first-ever dance extravaganza at Downtown Dubai on Friday. From zombie walks to well coordinated dance moves, the event saw high-energy action from every single participant.

“It was a one of a kind exhilarating experience. You are standing among several like-minded people and the backdrop of Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain made things pretty amazing,” said dancer and marketing professional at Fitness First Sarah Bell.

Jointly organised by Emaar Properties and Fitness First, the dancers donned their dancing shoes and the Burj Steps, overlooking Burj Khalifa, came alive to a footloose dance spectacle. Mark Botha, sales and marketing director of Fitness First said, “The whole point of the event was to encourage fitness as a community event. It was to encourage people to get into fitness as a lifestyle and the reason we didn’t keep the event as a flash mob is because we wanted people to know about it and take part,” said Botha. He added that fitness is not about boring walks on the treadmill, it can be highly enjoyable.

The dance gala featured both professional dancers as well as rank amateurs with a passion for dance and music. Fitness First choreographed the routine and taught their members the dance steps via social media channels and scheduled rehearsals.

Indian national Kunal Thakur said, “I enjoy dancing and I am a big time fitness freak. I have been working out for four years. The event was fabulous, the crowd was really energetic. You would think that people would not come in because it’s a Friday and the best part was everyone came in with their families and people really enjoyed themselves. A lot of university students participated in the event as well. Besides, I love Michael Jackson. His style is one of my favourite dance moves, so it made the event a lot more enjoyable.”

Katherine Jackson To Appear On Piers Morgan: Four Years Is Not Enough For Conrad Murray. 11-05-'12

Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, is slated to appear in a just announced interview with Piers Morgan next week.

In a preview from the forthcoming special, Katherine levies serious allegations against Conrad Murray and talks about life without Michael. ”You know what? I can’t even describe the way I feel about him. He did a terrible thing. And it might have been others involved,” she tells Piers Morgan regarding Murray. “I don’t know that. But I feel that. The only thing he did — for a person’s life, four years in jail is not enough.”

Speaking of her son, Katherine Jackson claims she’ll never get over his death. “Never. Every morning, all through the day, I think about Michael. If I wake up through the night, my mind is there,” says Jackson. “But — I just miss him. But being a Christian and believing in the resurrection, I feel that I’ll see him again.”

Katherine Jackson appears on Piers Morgan Tonight Monday, May 14 (CNN).

Settles War With Chick From 'Thriller' Video. 11-05-'12

Michael Jackson's Estate has finally settled its beef with the girl who played MJ's date in the famed "Thriller" video -- three years after she filed her lawsuit.

TMZ broke the story ... Ola Ray sued MJ and his production company in May 2009 -- the month before Jackson died -- claiming she hadn't been paid royalties from the legendary 1983 music video.
The former Playboy Playmate sued for breach of contract, insisting she was still owed a massive chunk of "Thriller" profits.

We don't know how much the Estate settled for -- but from what we can gather, Ola got something.

"Thriller" director John Landis has filed a similar lawsuit against the Estate. We're told both sides are still trying to negotiate a settlement.

Randy Jackson Says Fiddes' Claims "Absurd". 10-05-'12

A spokesman for Randy Jackson told TMZ the allegations made recently by former bodyguard Matt Fiddes "couldn't be further from the truth." He went on to call Fiddes' claims "absolutely absurd."

On Tuesday, Fiddes told the Sun that in 2005, Michael Jackson became so paranoid that he ordered his bodyguards to shoot his brother Randy.

Randy Jackson's spokesman says the Jackson family is choosing to ignore Fiddes rather than engage him in a legal battle because "it's a non-issue."

During that story in the Sun, Fiddes made several claims about Michael Jackson that no one else corroberates, including the alleged two-week romance with Whitney Houston.

MJ Wanted To Play Spider Man? 02-05-'12

We all know that the King of Pop had a great love for Marvel Comics. Now comes word from Mr. Marvel himself, Stan Lee, that Michael Jackson was interested in playing your friendly neighborhood Spider Man on the big screen!

Lee, an 89-year-old pop culture legend, recently sat for an interview with Moviefone.com to talk about Marvel's history with the movies, and during his chat, the subject of Michael Jackson came up. An excerpt of the conversation is below:

Moviefone: The most interesting bit of almost-casting that I've ever heard came from a Producers Guild conference last summer: the "X-Men" producers revealed that Michael Jackson seriously lobbied for the part of Professor X.

SL: I wasn’t aware that Michael Jackson wanted to be Professor X. I knew Michael Jackson. And with the things he discussed with me, I felt he wanted to be Spider-Man. That was the character that interested him. He never discussed the X-Men with me.

Moveifone: How do you think he would have fared as Spider-Man?

SL: I think he’d have been good. I think he’d have been very good. But I must say that Tobey Maguire was wonderful.

Moviefone: I’m fascinated by the fact that Jackson worked with Stan Lee Media and attempted to buy Marvel, in the 90s.

SL: Yes, he wanted to. He felt that would be the only way that he could play Spider-Man. [Laughs]

More On Pepsi's New MJ Campaign. 01-05-'12

As reported last month, Pepsi is gearing up for its new ad campaign commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Michael Jackson's BAD album.

The campaign is set to begin in mid-May and, according to Billboard, it will include a series of remixes from superstar DJs like Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak, among others. The exclusive tracks will be accessed through special Pepsi cans that will allow the fans to scan a code with their phones to hear the songs. Frank Cooper, PepsiCo chief marketing officer of global consumer engagement, calls this marketing strategy SoLoMo - or Social/Local/Mobile.

The King of Pop famously struck a ground-breaking, multifaceted endorsement/sponsorship deal with Pepsi back in 1984 and was also famously burned during a commercial shoot for the company.
