Tommy HilfigerTommy Hilfiger's 'Crazy' Michael Jackson Encounter. 26-10-'16

Tommy Hilfiger's first encounter with the late Michael Jackson was 'crazy'.

The 65-year-old fashion designer has recalled meeting the 'Thriller' hitmaker at his 'deserted' Neverland home to discuss plans to collaborate on a clothing line, and he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw elephants and a giraffe in the grounds of the abode.

Speaking about the music legend - who died in 2009 - in his memoir 'American Dreamer: My Life in Fashion and Business', he wrote: 'A choo-choo train, with a conductor and everything, picked us up. We were driving through Neverland, and no one was there. As we passed the Ferris wheel, it started up. Every seat was empty. We saw teacup rides and a racetrack and an amphitheater, all deserted.

'We pulled up in front of the house, and a butler came out wearing white gloves. 'Hello,' he said. 'Michael will be coming; he is expecting you.' We were standing in front of this massive gingerbread-style house when a giraffe walked by, followed by a string of baby elephants. Ally and Andy were looking at each other, like 'This is crazy!''

'Prince and Paris came barreling down the stairs dressed as characters from a Broadway show or 'The Sound of Music' - velveteen knickers, dirndl jumper, ruffled blouses, patent leather shoes, each in full makeup, their hair bleached blond with dark roots. Blanket was an infant in nanny's arms.'

Tommy - who founded his eponymous label in 1985 - revealed Michael was perched on an 'enormous' throne, but appeared nervous and 'fidgety' whilst pitching his idea to him.

He explained: 'He was sitting in an enormous gold-and-burgundy throne ... His face was heavily made up and he had a Band-Aid across his nose. He was fidgety. He said, 'We really have to do this clothing line together. I have millions of fans all over the world who are waiting for it.' He spoke in the same wispy voice we had all grown accustomed to.'

While Michael was persistent in his efforts to join forces with Tommy, the creative mastermind was adamant it wouldn't work and continued to reject the musician's offer.

He said: 'Michael continued to call and ask us to reconsider, but our decision was firm, and he never did the clothing line.'

Michael Jackson Accused Of Child Sexual Abuse In New Lawsuit. 25-10-'16

More than seven years after Michael Jackson’s death, the sordid allegations against the deceased King of Pop keep coming.

A California plaintiff identified only as Jane Doe filed a negligence lawsuit against the late King of Pop’s production companies Tuesday claiming Jackson molested her as a child then paid close to a million dollars in hush money to keep her quiet.

The anonymously filed lawsuit claims that Jackson sexually abused the victim between 1986 and 1989, when the defendant ranged from 12 to 15 years old.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, names a pair of unidentified companies that Jackson allegedly ran.

“The thinly veiled, covert second purpose of these businesses was to operate as a child sexual abuse operation, specifically designed to locate, attract, lure and seduce child sexual abuse victims,” the lawsuit reads.

The suit claims that the plaintiff and her parents met Jackson in 1986 while sightseeing at his Hayvenhurst Ave home in Encino, California.

The 'Beat It' singer asked for the family’s home phone number, after which the abuse allegedly began.

Howard Weitzman, attorney for Michael Jackson’s estate, blasted the new lawsuit as “without any merit.”

“This is yet another attempt to hit the lottery by suing the Estate of Michael Jackson more than seven years after Michael’s death and close to 30 years after these incidents supposedly occurred,” Weitzman said in a statement to The Wrap. “We believe this claim was created from whole cloth and is without any merit. It’s also no coincidence that this woman is represented by the same attorneys involved in two other frivolous claims against the Estate.”

Claiming intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, negligent supervision and other counts, the lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

Carole Bayer Sager Discusses Her Friendship With The ‘Tortured’ Michael Jackson And Elizabeth Taylor In New Memoir. 18-10-'16

They're Playing Our Song Book CoverAcademy Award-winning singer-songwriter Carole Bayer Sager opened up about her friendship with Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson in a new memoir, 'They’re Playing Our Song'. In the book, out Tuesday, Sager shares intimate insights into the lives of both legendary entertainment figures —from Taylor’s relationship with men, drugs and jewels, to Jackson’s “tortured genius child-man” persona. According to Sager, the pair struggled under the weight of celebrity, which ultimately drew them together.

“Theirs was a special relationship,” Sager writes of her friends in 'They’re Playing Our Song'. “Two of the world’s greatest superstars, with lives that were lived on stages or on movie screens since they’d been children. How could either of them find anyone else who could understand their lives?”

“He sat on my bed looking very handsome, dressed all in black. He had not yet gone over the top in his facial surgeries,” writes Sager. “He was quite beautiful looking in a Diana Ross way. He had not altered his skin tone and he had not yet begun to sabotage his career. Still, he was afraid.”

Jackson allegedly told Sager that he was shy, so she suggested he stay in her room. When Jackson finally joined the party, “he never left Elizabeth’s side, even holding her hand for most of the evening,” writes Sager.

“I had real empathy for him and the unloved childhood his abusive father robbed him of,” writes Sager. “As Elizabeth often said, she connected with Michael on a soul level because they were both deprived of a childhood by early stardom, yet they each looked at life at times through the eyes of a child.”

According to They’re Playing Our Song, one of her last interactions with Jackson occurred in 2006, at a party held by Barbara Davis. Even for Sager, who had partied and worked with celebrities for years, the evening was surreal. Marvin Hamlisch, Sager’s ex-boyfriend, fell asleep at the table and their host, Davis, looked like she was about to as well, writes Sager. Even though Michael Jackson’s two young children were present at the table, he also nodded off. According to Sager, Jackson said he was exhausted because he had been traveling in the Middle East. In reality, Sager writes that she learned Jackson had “been home for three weeks and was on some heavy narcotics” that caused him to slur and fall asleep.

So when Sager learned of Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009, she wasn’t shocked — “just terribly sad.” Elizabeth Taylor, in contrast, was inconsolable. According to Sager, she held Taylor’s hand as “she cried through the whole telecast.” Sager feels that “losing Michael accelerated [Taylor’s] decline.” Taylor died less than two years later, in 2011.

Sager continues to mourn the loss of both her celebrity friends. To her, Elizabeth was great because of her “humanity,” while Jackson was a “phenomenon.”

“Singular in his stunning talent and stunted beyond measure in the rest of his life,” Sager writes. “And to the extent that he was capable of love, I believe he loved his children, his mother, and he loved Elizabeth.”

Motown Museum’s $50 Million Expansion Plans Include Theater, Studios, Interactive Exhibits. 18-10-'16

The Motown Museum, already one of the country’s premier music destinations, announced a $50 million expansion plan Monday that would add interactive exhibits, a performance theater, record studios, retail, and public spaces.

The project, which would increase the museum’s footprint to 50,000 square feet, has a planned completion date of 2018.

The goal is to “narrate and celebrate on a much larger scale what the Motown legacy is recognized for: unmatched creative genius that transcends every barrier imaginable by bringing people together from all walks of life to share in that unmistakable Motown Sound,” Motown Museum CEO and Chairwoman Robin R. Terry says in a statement.

The expansion will be funded through a forthcoming capital campaign, according to the museum.

“It brings me real joy, and I am proud and humbled to know that the inclusive legacy of Motown, and the most talented people who are so near and dear to my heart, will have their stories told in this new museum,” Gordy says in a statement.

The lead designer for the initial museum expansion plans is Phil Freelon, who helmed the design of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Detroit-based Hamilton Anderson Associates is the architect of record for the project.

Barry GibbBarry Gibb Talks About Michael. 12-10-'16

The 'Stayin Alive' singer was good friends with the king of pop and says fame destroyed him.

He has been making music for over 50 years and has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, so it's no surprise that Barry Gibb has some tales from the world of music.

The Bee Gees star has recorded a new album with the help of his sons, and he caught up with Good Morning Britain to discuss the latest record, but first he gave his opinion on the greatest ever artist.

Barry counted Michael Jackson among his closest friends and the two would often hangout together in the studio making music and giving each other advice.

However, Barry claims that despite all of Michael's success as one of the biggest selling musicians of all time, he was incredibly insecure and had some severe self esteem issues.

Barry said: "I've never known an incredibly famous artist that had good self esteem. Michael was the same, very much afraid, afraid of everything."

He added: "He'd say to me, 'Barry, do you think Prince is better than me?' I'd tell him he had no equal."

Barry thinks that fame made the 'Thriller' singer insecure, and that's something he has seen in many other stars in both film and music.

"Mega-fame is destructive", he said. "My wife is the reason I didn't wind up going down that path."

Michael Jackson Is Richest Dead Celebrity With Record-Breaking Annual Earnings. 12-10-'16

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson has earned more in the past year than any celebrity – dead or alive – has ever earned in a 12-month period, according to Forbes’ top-earning dead celebrities list for 2016.

The late pop icon topped the annual list with a record-breaking income of 825 million US dollars this year.

This was largely due to the 750 million US dollars sale of Jackson’s half in the Sony/ATV Music Publishing catalogue, complete with a library of Beatles tracks.

Jackson, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 50, has topped the annual list for deceased celebrities every year since his death – apart from in 2012 when he came second to Hollywood star Elizabeth Taylor.

The next closest contender on the list is Peanuts creator and cartoonist Charles M Schulz, who has earned 48 million US dollars in the last year.

American golfer Arnold Palmer is third on the list, Elvis Presley is in fourth place and singer-songwriter Bob Marley is sixth.

Forbes estimated the pre-tax income of personalities from October 1 2015 through to October 1 2016 from a variety of sources before taking away expenses for agents, managers and lawyers.

Eddie WolflEddie Wolfl Dies At 63. 08-10-'16

It is with great sadness that we’ve learned of the passing of photographer & friend Eddie Wolfl who worked with Michael in the 'Bad' & 'HIStory' eras, most notably capturing Michael and Janet on the set of 'Scream'.

Eddie was an incredibly honest, funny guy who had a great energy and passion for his work. Aside from Michael, Eddie got to capture the greats including Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Sting, Janet Jackson and Beyoncé.

In 2014, Eddie interviewed for Iconic Magazine’s Scream issue and gave permission for us to use his entire Michael Jackson 'Scream' work along side his frank and bold recollection of his time with the King of Pop. In 2015, Eddie agreed for his 'Scream' photography to go on display at Kingvention in London and surprised everyone by flying in on the day of the event where he took to the stage and spoke fondly of Michael. He then spent his time talking with all the fans offering words of inspiration to those looking to make it in the photography and dance fields and kept everybody smiling through out the day.

Our thoughts are with Eddie’s family and we’re so blessed to be given the chance to work with such a wonderful, talented, gracious man.

Quincy Jones Royalty Trial Delayed Because Of Sony Music Conflict. 07-10-'16

Quincy JonesLegendary producer Quincy Jones was set to go to trial next week over royalties he says he's owed from albums released after Michael Jackson's death — but that's not happening now because a recent development means defendants Sony Music and MJJ Productions can no longer share a legal team.

Judge Michael Stern in September gave Jones the green light to pursue damages claims related to payment from permanent digital downloads. The producer is essentially arguing that he was shorted because Sony was underpaying MJJ, a song company controlled by the late artist's estate.

The issue boils down to whether Sony should have been treating those downloads as licenses instead of as sales — which would have given both Jackson's company and Jones more money. Artists get half of net revenue from licenses, but only a 15 percent royalty on sales. The payment of digital downloads is an area of continual conflict between artists and labels and has taken center stage in several major lawsuits in the past decade.

Warner Music, Sony and Universal Music Group each have paid millions to settle class action lawsuits involving digital download payments — following a major 9th Circuit ruling concerning Eminem's music. There, the appellate court held that, because labels spending big bucks on CD packaging is a thing of the past, treating the downloads as licenses is more appropriate.

Jones raising the issue here complicates matters for defense attorneys.

Until now, Sony and MJJ have shared counsel from Kinsella Weitzman and Katten Muchin. Because this will pit the two against each other on at least one argument, Sony will have to retain separate legal counsel. (Sony Music declined to comment.)

The legal fight began in 2013, when Jones sued both Sony and MJJ, claiming master recordings he produced were remixed after Jackson's death to avoid paying him backend profit participation. Many of the King of Pop's biggest hits, including "Thriller," "Beat It" and "Billy Jean," were re-edited for the projects and Jones says MJJ breached his contract by allowing third parties to exploit the works without first offering Jones the opportunity to perform the remixes himself.

In February, judge Michael Stern denied a motion for summary judgment from Sony and MJJ, finding the issues were best decided by a jury. The case was first set for trial in June, but was pushed back to Oct. 11. Now the trial has been put off once again, with no date currently set.

At the center of the delay is an expert report by Gary Cohen. Attorneys for MJJ and Sony fought the inclusion of evidence relating to permanent digital download damages set out in Cohen's Aug. 30 supplemental filing.

Stern agreed to limit Cohen's opinions at trial to those that were offered in his deposition based on his designation, but declined to strike the supplemental report. In response, defense attorneys asked to push the trial back to give Sony a chance to hire separate lawyers. Stern agreed.

It remains to be seen exactly how long it will take for new attorneys to get up to speed and get a trial back on the books, but a status conference is currently scheduled for November.
