Ola Ray Was Michael Jackson's Love Interest In 'Thriller'. She Says His Spirit Visits Her. 11-07-'19

Ola RayIt was the cinematic music clip that ran for 14 minutes – changing the world of pop forever from its release date in 1983.

Featuring dance moves that have lived on for decades through drunk people’s sloppy attempts to emulate them, Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller' film clip is, by every definition, iconic.

The music video was also the first time fans saw Michael in an onscreen romance, as he danced down the deserted street to a zombie-filled graveyard with former Playboy playmate Ola Ray.

Now 58, Ola Ray popped up in the headlines only twice more after the film clip dropped.

In 1992, she was arrested for drug possession, claiming the attention she received after the popularity of the film clip was at the root of her substance use, and in 2009, she sued the Jackson estate for breach of contract.

The former model has penned a book about her time working with the controversial star, titled 'The Thrill Of It', and on Thursday morning, she spoke to Studio 10 about the two weeks spent with the King of Pop, touching on the darkness that followed her short-lived fame.

“I had a lot of people always coming to my house,” she told Craig Bennett of life after the film clip exploded onto screens around the world.

Ray recalls her audition for the film clip:

"When he started to play 'Thriller', I got so excited," she said of meeting with her agent.

Two weeks later, she scored the role thousands of women had dreamt of, and soon became the source of rumours that her relationship with Jackson was more than just as co-stars.

"Well in a way it was like a real romance," she says of the time spent filming.

"Everyone felt that love. We made it very special."

Earlier this year, the former model told Daily Mail she had a "fling" with the controversial pop star.

"I kissed him for the first time on the set, I kissed him on the cheek, then he asked me to come into his dressing room one day and I went in there and we sat down and had a conversation and we got really close and that's when he kissed me the second time," she told the publication.

“It was a very passionate kiss and, you know, we also did a little something else, but that's all I'm gonna say.”

“I'll just tell you this much,” she added. “He undressed in front of me, I'm not going to tell you anymore about it – you've got to read my book.”

But while she only saw the popstar once more after filming wrapped, The Sun reports it wasn't the last the family would hear from her.

Shortly after Jackson's death in 2009, Ray claimed she had been underpaid from her role in the video and was struggling to get by as a result.

Ray said she was paid around $3400 for her role in the video, but didn’t get another payment for at least two years even though she had signed a lucrative contract.

She also said she was promised 2.5 per cent of the royalties from the Thriller video, but when Jackson died, her contract was changed and she was tricked into signing a settlement agreement.

Ray claimed she was owed millions of dollars in back pay dating 35 years since the video was released.

The case was settled in 2013 by the Jackson estate. It's believed she received almost AUD$80,000 after she claimed her contract had been breached, according to TMZ.

Rather bizarrely, that same year the former model paid tribute to the iconic 'Thriller' film clip in one of her own, set to a track called 'Remember'.

It featured re-enactments of a number of the clip's sequences, including one featuring three zombies walking through a wood, while flashing back to snippets of the old footage.

Ray had also attempted to recreate the dance moves made famous by the late singer.

On Studio 10, when asked of the sexual assault allegations against Jackson by a number of men who claim they were molested by him as boys, she says she frankly "didn't believe it."

The allegations have been thrust into headlines again this year after the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary, which uncovered the claims of Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

"It was horrifying to watch from afar (but) to this day I don't think he was capable of doing that," Ray says.

"Michael made me feel so comfortable with him always laughing and joking. He was so funny," she recalls.

At the end of the interview, she added that she has felt his presence on more than one occasion.

"I've had a lot of different experiences with Michael's spirit. He has come back to me so many times."

Moonwalker'Moonwalker' At Tokyo & Osaka. 11-07-'19

Fans in Japan will be able to celebrate Michael Jackson’s Birthday by watching 'Moonwalker' on the big silver screen!

The event will take place on August 29 in 2 Zepp Cinemas.

Tokyo and Osaka Zepp cinema will screen the 1988’s masterpiece at 7.30pm.

'Moonwalker' is an American anthology film released in 1988 by singer Michael Jackson. Rather than featuring one continuous narrative, the film is a collection of short films about Jackson, several of which are long-form music videos from Jackson's 'Bad' album.

The film is named after the dance technique known as the moonwalk, which Jackson was known for performing in the 1980's. The name of the dance move was dubbed by the media, not by Jackson himself; however, he did choose the title of the film himself.

'Moonwalker' was a success at the box office, making a total of $67,000,000 worldwide.

Michael Jackson's Ex Tatum O'Neal Says 'It's Hard Not To Believe' Sex Abuse Claims. 10-07-'19

Tatum O'NealMichael Jackson 's ex-girlfriend Tatum O'Neal has confessed she's not surprised by the horrific allegations of child sex abuse made against the pop superstar.

The actress was the late King of Pop's childhood sweetheart, but she has now declared it's "hard not to believe those boys."

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain today, Tatum, 55, explained she was struggling to discount the allegations made by James Safechuck and Wade Robson in shock doc 'Leaving Neverland'.

She said: "It's hard not to believe those boys...

"I didn't see anything myself..."

The movie star went on to add that she's not disturbed by the claims as she's convinced there's plenty of murky secrets in Hollywood.

She explained: "No it doesn't sicken me - there are so many disgusting things in Hollywood now beginning to be uncovered slowly."

Tatum struck up a friendship with Jackson when she was 12 and he was 17, and she later revealed that he wanted a more intimate relationship - but she wasn't ready.

In her 2004 autobiography A Paper Life in 2004, she claimed Jackson attempted to take their relationship to the next level fairly early.

The actress wrote: “I was just 12 and not at all ready for a real-life encounter...

"Michael, who was sweating profusely, seemed as intimidated as I was.

"He jumped up nervously and said, ‘Uh … gotta go.’"

She previously said of Jackson in a 1995 interview with Vibe that he was a "shy" young man and "one of the nicest, most innocent people I've ever met."

She described the relationship as “a really wonderful friendship” and they would dance and “talk on the phone all the time.”

Jackson spoke about the romance in 2001, saying: "I was, like, in heaven. It was the most magical thing."

A Documentary About Michael Jackson By Director Marcos Cabotá With The Participation Of Brad Buxer For 2020. 08-07-'19

Director Marcos Cabotá

Spanish filmmaker Marcos Cabotá, awarded for several documentaries and short films, is currently working on a very special audiovisual project concerning Michael Jackson.

If it is difficult to know more about this documentary whose release is planned for 2020, some information could filter via the Spanish site Ultima Hora such as for example the presence of Brad Buxer, that fans of the 'King of Pop' know well, as well as the presence of singer Marta Sango, a fan of Michael Jackson from the show Operación Triunfo 2018.

We already know that Brad Buxer and Marta Sango are working together for this documentary where their collaboration will serve as music for this project.

About this project, Brad Buxer acknowledges that he accepted Cabotá's proposal to work on this documentary because as he says: "he showed me something of what he had filmed and I was fascinated by what I saw ... I knew then that I wanted to be part of this project."

During the recording process, in the great hall of the Palace of Congresses in Palma, Spain, Brad Buxer admits that he feels a certain nostalgia, "because we are working on subjects with which I have played for years with Michael; we have new music, but Michael and everything we've done together is in every note. I have probably known Michael Jackson better than anyone and I am sure he would cry with emotion seeing what we create, both visually and musically."

Regarding his collaboration with Marta Sango, Brad said that working with the young artist is something "motivating" for him: "Marta is exactly what Michael would like, it's as he would have chosen, his voice and his interpretation are powerful. Michael listens to him from the sky and is very happy with what he hears, I'm sure."

Director Marcos Cabotá, a great admirer of the work of Michael Jackson who also contacted relatives of the King of Pop during filming in the United States said for his part: "All my films are special for me, but this project is a little more."

Some images on a 25-second video are present on YouTube in which we quickly see a list of former collaborators and musicians of Michael Jackson.

King Of Pop(Corn) Back To The King Of Pop. 08-07-'19

If you recall, the Estate of Michael Jackson and the company “King of Pop-corn” company were in legal battle over the name “King of Pop”.

The Estate sued Gourmet Gift Baskets in 2016, alleging that the company’s use of KingOfPop.com for a website selling popcorn infringed on the late musician’s famous moniker.

According to court records, the two parties settled in 2017. But the Michael Jackson’s estate just got control of the domain name in recent days.

King Of PopcornLaw360, New York (October 24, 2014, 7:54 PM ET) — In Law360's latest roundup of new actions at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Michael Jackson’s estate takes issue with a popcorn retailer, the Marine Corps asserts its surprisingly vast trademark portfolio, and McDonald’s has a beef with a “McVeggie.”

This suggests that the confidential settlement had about a two year transition period to allow Gourmet Gift Baskets to transition its use of the domain. The domain resolved to its former website until about the middle of 2018, at which point it began forwarding to gourmetgiftbaskets.com/popcorn.

Changing a site’s domain name is hard; changing an entire brand is even more challenging.

KingOfPop.com now forwards to MichaelJackson.com

Japan: Michael Jackson Fans Will Celebrate August 29 With The Victory Tour. 07-07-'19

Victory TourThe Toronto Victory Tour concert in October 1984 will be broadcast at Umeda Trad in Osaka City on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

This collaboration with MJ Screen Live, which has lasted for a few years, will therefore propose to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the birth of the King of Pop with the Victory Tour and other carefully selected videos.

The opening is at 18:00 with a projection start at 19:00 and admission is free.

The Victory Tour was the biggest and final concert tour of the United States and Canada in 1984 by The Jacksons. Beginning July 6 and ending on December 9, the tour included 55 concerts to an audience of approximately 2 million. It was named after the newly released Jacksons album Victory although none of the album's songs appear on the tour's set list (Marlon confirmed it was because Michael refused to rehearse or perform them). The tour reportedly grossed $175 million and set a new record for the then-largest grossing tour.

The 1984 Victory Tour showcased Michael's single decorated glove, black sequined jacket and moonwalk, which captivated audiences around the world early in 1983, just about a year prior.

LawsuitThe Deliberation Will Take Place On October 4, 2019. 04-07-'19

The Orleans court on Thursday considered the subpoena filed by the three associations of fans Michael Jackson Community, MJ Street and On The Line against Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

If neither of them attended the hearing and were not represented, the court announced that it will render its decision on October 4, provided that the plaintiffs' lawyer can prove that the summons has been communicated to the two accusers, which he will not fail to do.

Note that in a statement sent to fans of Michael Jackson, MJ Online said that John Branca, co-executor of the Estate, said that the Estate fully supports Mr Ludot, the lawyer of the French associations, hoping that a victory in France could soon fuel a movement in the United States to finally explore changes in US law to protect the deceased against defamation.

We remind you that in the United States, as in the United Kingdom, the protection against defamation does not extend after the death of a person, but in France, the tarnishing of the image of a deceased person is a criminal offense.

Statement From The Estate Of Michael Jackson On The French Lawsuit. 04-07-'19

The Estate Of Michael Jackson
The Estate Of Michael Jackson

On Thursday, 4 July 2019, a court hearing is taking place in the Northern French city of Orleans where the Michael Jackson Community, the MJ Street and On The Line groups will commence proceedings against Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two men who sullied the image of the late singer Michael Jackson in the four- hour HBO documentary 'Leaving Neverland' which aired in March.

The fan groups are taking action in a French court because of French defamation laws.

In the US and UK, libel protection does not extend after death but in France sullying the image of a deceased person is a criminal offense.

French attorney Emmanuel Ludot who is representing the fan groups in the case against Robson and Safechuck has called the allegations against Michael Jackson “extremely serious” and likened them to “a genuine lynching” of Jackson, who died on 25 June 2009.

The fan clubs are seeking symbolic damages of one Euro each.

According to John Branca, Co-Executor of the Estate of Michael Jackson, “The Estate is in full support of Mr. Ludot’s efforts on behalf of Michael and his beloved fans in France and across the globe that the truth shall ultimately prevail. We remain hopeful that a victory in France will soon fuel a movement In the United States to finally explore changes in the law to afford defamation protection for the deceased.”

HBOIn France, Michael Jackson Fans Sue Over HBO Documentary. 02-07-'19

Michael Jackson fan clubs are set to sue two alleged child abuse victims of Michael Jackson in a French court this week over their claims in the recent HBO documentary 'Leaving Neverland'.

Thursday's (July 4) hearing will take place at a court in the northern city of Orleans where the Michael Jackson Community, the MJ Street and On The Line groups will begin proceedings against the men they accuse of sullying the image of the late singer.

The four-hour documentary broadcast on US channel HBO focuses on testimony by James Safechuck, 41, and Wade Robson, 36, who recount separate but consistent accounts of how their idol molested them as boys at his Neverland Ranch in California.

The two-part film, which was released in March, broke streaming records and prompted the Jackson family to sue for $100 million (88 million euros).

The French lawyer acting for the fan groups, Emmanuel Ludot, called the allegations "extremely serious" and likened them to "a genuine lynching" of Jackson, who died in 2009.

Under French law, sullying the image of a dead person is a criminal offence, unlike in Britain or America where libel and defamation laws do not offer this protection.

The fan clubs are seeking symbolic damages of one euro each.

Ludot had previously successfully sued Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray for causing distress to his fans by giving the US pop legend the drugs that killed him.

Five Jackson fans won symbolic damages of one euro each in 2014 after the court in Orleans agreed they had suffered "emotional damage" from the pop star's death, but the ruling was seen as legally dubious by experts.
