Michael Jackson's Estate Has Made $1.7 BILLION Since His Death. 20-09-'19

The Estate Of Michael Jackson
The Estate Of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson has been gone for over 10 years, but the business behind the King of Pop is skyrocketing, earning more than $1.7 billion dollars as of the beginning of 2019.

The shocking revelation was made in an accounting document of MJ's estate, which is filed with the L.A County Court.

According to the legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Michael Jackson's executor and lawyers have been working to rebuild Jackson's brand and stabilize his finances for years.

"With the assistance of their counsel, the Executors have successfully rebuilt and enhanced Michael Jackson’s image, solidified the MJJ business as a significant entity in the entertainment industry, entered into and continue to enter into unprecedented business deals that have produced, and will in the future produce, significant revenues for the Estate," his team wrote in the filing.

Jackson's new business deals includes the highly successful 'Cirque du Soleil' show on the Las Vegas strip.

More importantly, MJ's team told the court:

"As of December 31, 2018, the Estate generated gross earnings exceeding 1.7 Billion Dollars."

Obviously, the estate continues to earn money during the first few months of this year.

Its a true miracle, considering what his executors and lawyers walked into when the singer died. "Among other issues, at the time of Michael Jackson‘s ‘ death, Michael Jackson’s most significant assets were subject to more than $500 million of debt... some debt in default (the mortgage, and utilities on Havenhurst had been unpaid for several months)," they reminded the court in their filing.

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009, leaving his fortune to his three children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket. His mother Katherine, was also named a beneficiary of his trust.

The accounting also describes the estates handling of MJ's children's needs along with assets still owned by the Jackson family. Rent, college tuition, and normal everyday expenses or covered in the accounting.

One of the major businesses managed by MJ's estate is his major holdings in the music business. "In 2013, the Estate sold its interest in EMI for $287,500,000, a mare than Five Thousand Percent return 0n the Estate’s investment." the estate explained.

The Estate still owns Mijac Music (the publishing rights to all songs written by Michael Jackson and certain other iconic songs purchased by him, including Ray Charles’ hits, 'What’d I Say', 'I Got A Woman', Elvis Presley’s hits 'Mystery Train' and 'Cryin’ In The Chapel' as well as 'Dance To The Music', 'Everyday People' and the rest of the classic Sly and the Family Stone catalog).

This also includes Michael Jackson’s own master recordings.

At the time of MJ's death he also had several properties, several Rolls Royces', and a ton of memorabilia.

The estate consists of some of the best in the business including attorney Howard Weitzman, executors John Branca and John McClain, and lawyer Bryan J. Freedman who helps handle issues like the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary battle.

Bottom line: The team helping MJ's family and businesses, after his death, are simply winning.

The Michael Jackson Estate Just Won A Temporary Victory In 'Leaving Neverland' Lawsuit. 20-09-'19

The Estate Of Michael Jackson
The Estate Of Michael Jackson

The Michael Jackson Estate has won a temporary victory in its lawsuit against HBO over the premium cabler’s 'Leaving Neverland' docuseries, in which Wade Robson and James Safechuck detailed alleged abuses they endured by Jackson as children. The Jackson estate, which filed its roughly $100 million lawsuit in February, has argued that in making and distributing 'Leaving Neverland' and leaving out its denial of the allegations against Jackson, HBO is in violation of a non disparagement clause stemming from the network’s 1992 agreement to air a concert film of Jackson’s Dangerous tour. HBO claims the pact is now defunct.

In a tentative ruling Thursday (September 19), Judge George Wu denied HBO’s motion to dismiss the case—a decision that the judge is expected to make final by the end of the month. Variety reports that Wu himself suggested HBO file an anti-SLAPP motion, invoking the California law intended to curb litigation aimed at chilling free speech. Now, however, he has determined that the statute does not apply to arbitration requests, Variety reports.

The Jackson estate has long slammed the docuseries, which debuted soon after Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly and sparked a similar resurgence of interest and passion around the allegations against Jackson. Soon after the doc’s debut, radio stations slowly began removing Jackson from their libraries—a sign that perhaps this time, the public is feeling more strongly about the allegations and their merit. (Jackson died in 2009, and denied the allegations during his life; in a 2005 trial, he was acquitted on all charges, including child molestation.) Most recently, the Jackson family decried 'Leaving Neverland’s' Emmy win, calling the nod a “complete farce.”

In court, Variety reports that HBO attorney Theodore Boutrous asked Wu to reconsider denying HBO’s request for dismissal. “It was filed to chill speech,” Boutrous said of the Jackson estate’s lawsuit. “It was filed to tell the world, ‘Don’t talk about child sex abuse.’…A company like HBO may be able to fight back and move forward. Others might not be able to do that.” An HBO representative told Variety, “We are waiting to see the judge’s final decision.” Meanwhile, Bryan J. Freedman, who represents the Jackson estate, slammed HBO in another statement that reads, in part: “HBO has tried everything possible to avoid having a trier of fact adjudicate their wrongdoing. If HBO believes its actions were proper then there is no reason for them to try and hide behind procedural technicalities to avoid an arbitration or a trial.”

'Get It Together' (Red Vinyl - Limited Edition) Album Is Reissued. 20-09-'19

The reissue of the 'Get It Together' album in red vinyl is released in Europe by Motown.

This year we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of the King of Pop. That's why we reissue the album of his Jackson 5 period!I t's a limited edition album (limited to 1000 pressings).

The album 'Get It Together' was for the first time released on September 12th, 1973 in the USA by Motown and in the United Kingdom during November 1973 by Tamla Motown.

Now 15-years-old, his voice began to deepen, taking on a more soulful sound. With Michael's voice having changed, the overall sound of the group changed as well. The little boys were now becoming adults, and those high notes that only Michael could hit were retired.

The album was a breakaway from the group's bubblegum soul sound as they came up with a more funk-oriented album similar to The Temptations Norman Whitfield-produced albums. Whitfield in fact provides covers of two of his Temptations songs here, 'You Need Love Like I Do (Don't You)', and 'Hum Along And Dance'. The Jackson 5's cover of the latter song, an eight-minute album-closer, is today regarded as the most notable version of the song. 'Get It Together' was also one of the earliest disco albums, released at a time before the genre was mainstream.

This album is special it has the "GIT" die-cut cover, the group's name is listed as "The Jackson 5ive" on the cover.

Michael Songs Pulled From Primary School Teaching Materials In Wake Of Child Abuse Allegations.

Michael JacksonA company that supplies music lesson resources to around half the primary schools in England removed all mentions of the late pop star from its teaching material.

Charanga took the decision earlier this year, following the release of the Netflix documentary 'Leaving Neverland', which detailed claims from Wade Robson and James Safechuck that they were abused by him as young boys.

Mark Burke, director of Charanga, said: "In light of the allegations made against Michael Jackson in March, we felt it inappropriate to promote or share his content with our users.

“We therefore removed it from our platform immediately. As a cloud-based service, our removing this content meant it was no longer able to be used by anyone using the service."

Earlier this year, the executive producer of The Simpsons announced that a “treasured” episode featuring the voice of Michael Jackson is to be removed from television in response to the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary.

James L Brooks, the producer, said he had agreed with Matt Groening and Al Jean, the creators, that it should not be shown again, despite it having been one of their favourite episodes.

Mr Brooks said that the episode could no longer remain in circulation in light of the "monstrous behaviour" described in the film.

Some radio stations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand have banned Jackson records, but there have been no announcements by British stations.

'Thriller Live', the West End show, has no plans to close. The Jackson family have denied the allegations, describing them as "all about the money".

The singer, who died in 2009, still has his defenders, including Mark Lester, the British former child actor who starred in Oliver! and later formed a friendship with Jackson.

He said of 'Leaving Neverland': "It made me feel quite sick. This is not the Michael Jackson that I knew for over 30 years. This is not the man that my children knew."

Jackson's daughter, Paris, spoke out on social media to urge fans to be "calm" in their response. She appeared to defend her father when she said that "lies" are told about "everyone with a good heart", adding: "Do you really think that it's possible to tear his name down?"

TJ JacksonTJ Jackson Says He Is Now Sole Guardian Of Michael's Children. 16-09-'19

TJ Jackson says he’s now the sole guardian of Michael Jackson’s children, having taken over caring duties from the late singer’s mother.

Michael’s nephew discussed the family’s situation recently on the podcast Black Hollywood Live, saying Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, has “relinquished” the guardianship.

When Michael died, Katherine, now 89, was granted custody of his children Paris, Prince, and Blanket. That decision was in accordance with the singer’s will.

But 10 years after Michael’s death, TJ, who has four children and two stepchildren of his own, says he and Katherine felt that it was time for him to step up and care for his uncle’s children.

While Paris and Prince are now adults at respectively 21 and 22 years old, Blanket is 17 and thus still needs a legal guardian.

“When [Michael] passed, my brothers and I, we went to our grandmother and basically told her, however we can help, we want to be there,” TJ said.

“... And then, you know, whenever she’d go out of town she’d always call me to see if I can come by, come to the house and, and watch them, you know, and I think she knew I was the only one with a child, so she knew I thought like a parent and I would take care of them like a parent.

“In time, as she’s gotten older, she’s kind of phased out of it and now I’m officially just the sole guardian. She relinquished it recently.

“But I was always there with my brothers, and I think it’s important because she’s almost 90 years old and she’s a grandma, you know, and, and she needs to relax and it’s tough raising kids, let alone teenagers so, for anyone, let alone a 90-year-old. So I think it was the right thing and she needs to relax and enjoy her grandkids as a grandmother.”

Michael Jackson's Estate Responds After 'Leaving Neverland' Wins Emmy For Outstanding Documentary.

Dan ReedHBO's high-profile documentary 'Leaving Neverland', which addresses allegations of sexual abuse against Michael Jackson, took home the award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday (September 14), and the late singer's estate is slamming the decision.

"For a film that is a complete fiction to be honored in a nonfiction Emmy category is a complete farce," the Jackson estate said in a statement released to ET, in response to the film's win.

"Not one shred of proof supports this completely one-sided, so-called documentary which was made in secrecy and for which not one person outside of the two subjects and their families were interviewed," the statement further claims.

'Leaving Neverland', a two-part HBO documentary focusing on accusations of sexual abuse and misconduct leveled by James Safechuck and Wade Robson, has been met with polarizing responses since its release, and was slammed by the Jackson family, at the time, for being a "rehash of dated and discredited allegations."

Meanwhile, director Dan Reed -- who thanked Safechuck and Robson during his acceptance speech on Saturday -- spoke with ET's Denny Directo on the red carpet ahead of the show and opened up about what getting recognized by the Emmys with five nominations meant to him and to the documentary.

"It does help to validate the film, [which has] been so controversial," Reed said, adding that increased awareness of the doc "confronts people with a crime that they don't really want to know about, and wish didn't exist."

The 54-year-old British director admitted that he and his producing partners never expected the film to have such a big cultural impact and to divide people so sharply between the film's supporters and vehement detractors.

"We thought it would make some noise, but we kind of thought people would go, 'Oh yeah, it's another film about the allegations against Michael Jackson.' But this has been taking us completely unawares," Reed admitted. "It's been a tsunami of love, of hatred, of attention and noise, of thoughtful critical reaction and unthinking reaction. It's been a journey into the heart of the world media."

"I just hope there are people out there, who have had a similar experience to the guys in my film, who feel more at ease with themselves having watched it, and have a way to articulate what happened to them," Reed added.

The Creative Arts Emmys air Saturday, Sept. 21 on FXX.

Let The Music Of 'Michael Jackson ONE' Inspire You All Over Again. 13-09-'19

MJ OneMichael Jackson ONE doesn’t just use the late King of Pop’s music as the soundtrack for a typically dazzling, inventive showcase of acrobatics and dancing. The show is all about Jackson and a storyline inspired by his conflicted relationship with fame. Even before the show formally begins, performers dressed as paparazzi roam the theater in a playfully exaggerated imitation of the constant media attention that troubled Jackson throughout his life.

Although his struggles are an important element of the show, it’s primarily a celebration of the inspirational power of music. The four main characters discover their inner strength on a journey through Jackson’s catalog of hits, witnessing and participating in intricate numbers set to enduring classics like 'Beat It', 'Bad', 'Black Or White' and more, from Jackson’s childhood days in the Jackson 5 to his more eccentric late-career work.

Cirque du Soleil’s dancers re-create Jackson’s moves, including the moonwalk and the anti-gravity lean from the 'Smooth Criminal' video. Zombies take to trampolines during 'Thriller', and dancers move in electric light outlines in the pitch dark during 'Billie Jean'.

Mandalay Bay, 7 & 9:30 p.m. Thurs.-Mon. (dark Sept. 18-25), additional 9:30 p.m. show Sept. 17, starting at $69 plus tax and fee. 702.632.7580

AkonAkon Defends Michael Jackson. 11-09-'19

Michael Jackson's love for children was humanitarian:

In a recent interview with Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning, American singer-songwriter Akon spoke about his relationship with Michael Jackson and the charges brought against him in the controversial HBO documentary. By Complex, Akon responded by saying that Michael Jackson's love for children was humanitarian

According to Akon, Jackson was tapped on several occasions during his illustrious career. He claims that the music industry has tried to "push it out" many times and expressed astonishment at how cruel big corporations can be. As for Jackson's proximity to the children, Akon doesn't believe it to be a character flaw. "But it wasn't even a failure, it was all humanitarian and just loved the kids," said Akon.

Akon suggests the allegations are false, saying those closest to Jackson would have noticed signs that he was abusing children if he were really a pedophile. "In Mike's name, it's people who were rewarded for making these reports ... you can't even prove any of it and half of that, you can prove that they were rewarded for saying these things," he said.

'The Definitive Collection' (Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD) - Limited Edition) CD Album Will Be Reissued.

The Definitive Collection (Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD) - Limited Edition) CD Album Cover'The Definitive Collection' is a compilation album of Michael Jackson that will be reissued in Japan on November 27 by Universal Music. The limited edition CD album in HQ definition, you need an MQA enabled DAC to hear the MQA files per se.

It is a 19-track collection of highlights from his Motown recordings, including the hits he had with his brothers in the Jackson 5. This emphasizes Michael's solo hits over the Jackson 5's -- there are ten cuts of him alone, nine with his brothers (and one of those is an alternate "minus mix" of 'I'll Be There') -- which skews this a little bit toward puppy love over bubblegum, something that may be a little too syrupy for some listeners, but there's no denying that for fans lacking a collection of Michael's earliest hits.

This definitive collection features original hit recordings including 'I Want You Back', 'ABC', 'I'll Be There', 'Got To Be There', 'Rockin' Robin', 'Ben', 'One Day In Your Life' and plus the much-talked about B-side, 'Who's Loving You' and a BONUS Minus mix of 'I'll Be There').

Track lists:

1. I Want You Back - The Jackson 5 - 2:58

Bronze SculpturesNeverland Ranch Animal Sculptures, Buy My Jungle Gym!!! 09-09-'19

Michael Jackson's artsy jungle gym is going on the market, so you can take home some of the most interesting pieces of art ever displayed at the famed Neverland Ranch.

A collection of bronze sculptures depicting different animals and a huge tree with a special engraving from the King of Pop is now for sale at $1.75 million, Gary Zimet of Moments in Time tells TMZ.

Michael displayed the artwork at the expansive Neverland Ranch for 11 years, from 1994 to 2005, and it was super popular among kids. MJ hosted lots of terminally ill kids back then, and the tree was hollowed out so they could play inside.

A special plaque was added to the tree sculpture with words from Michael... "Magical children don't worry how, don't delay - this moment's now."

There's a zebra, gecko, tarantula, snails, salamander, python, mouse, warthog, ostrich, orangutan, hippo, giraffe, tortoise, crocodile, monkey and even a toucan!!!

Lots of items -- all things Michael Jackson -- have been bought and sold over the years, and the value has varied wildly. Some items seem like a bargain... others seem like the King of Pop's ransom.

Paris Jackson Hits Back At 50 Cent Over His Chris Brown And Michael Jackson Comparison. 06-09-'19

Paris JacksonParis Jackson has hit back at 50 Cent over his ongoing comparison between Chris Brown and her late father Michael Jackson.

50 Cent’s comments sparked debate last weekend after he shared a screenshot of a tweet which highlighted Chris Brown’s commercial success in the US. The rapper wrote “CB better then MJ to me now” in the caption of a now-deleted Instagram post which also made reference to the allegations of abuse which were made against Jackson in the controversial film 'Leaving Neverland'.

Those comments sparked an online backlash, but 50 Cent appeared to double down on his backing of Brown yesterday (September 5) by posting a video of the singer doing several backflips during a live show. “All I’m saying is I never seen MJ come out like this.”

Paris Jackson responded to 50’s post in the comments section as she wrote in defence of her late father by citing his performance at the 1993 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“Superbowl 1993. True legends don’t need to exert outrageous amounts of energy just to grasp your attention,” she wrote. “Stillness, my friend. Stillness. More power in stillness than you can probably understand.

“And I say this with zero shade to Chris [Brown],” she added. “I love him dearly. This is just for you, 50.”
