Eyes On: Jerome Bourgeot. 30-12-'20

Art comes in different shapes and forms and French artist Jerome Bourgeot is literally playing with those to create his paintings.

But don't be fooled! This is not a painting! It is a superimposition of different coloured papers, cut and shaped and placed carefully to create an image.

The 27 years old artist from Nancy in France has created many portraits and designs taken from the music world, movies, cartoons and fashion.

Jerome created portraits of Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Mohamed Ali, Madonna, Elizabeth Taylor and many more!

Smooth Criminal SuperimpositionSuperimposition 'Smooth Criminal' made by French artist Jerome Bourgeot.

But last April, he designed a 30x40cm art of the 'King of Pop', Michael Jackson, in the famous "lean" from 'Smooth Criminal' and it is absolutely breath taken!

Yesterday, Jerome posted his new MJ artwork in the 'King of Pop' / 'Black Or White' pose.

Ron Burkle
Ron Burkle recently bought Neverland.

Neverland Ranch Sold To Billionaire For $22Million. 24-12-'20

The Neverland Ranch of the late pop star Michael Jackson has reportedly been sold to a billionaire investor for a quarter of its initial asking price.

Ron Burkle, a former friend of Jackson, recently bought the estate in Los Olivos, California, his spokesman said.

He paid $22m for Neverland, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing public records and three people familiar with the deal.

The 2,700-acre (1,100 hectare) compound was first listed for $100m in 2015.

Since then Neverland, north of Santa Barbara city, has been on and off the market, listed most recently last year for the lower price of $31m.

Jackson originally paid about $19.5m for Neverland, which he named after a fictional island where children never grow up in ‎JM Barrie's Peter Pan story.

Michael bought Neverland in 1987, making it his home during the height of his fame.

He turned the ranch into an entertainment complex, building a zoo and fairground on site, where he regularly entertained children and their families.

Neverland RanchSycamore Valley Ranch – 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, California.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Neverland became the centre of various investigations into child sexual assault allegations against Jackson.

Jackson denied allegations by Santa Barbara prosecutors that he had used Neverland as a fantasy world to groom young boys.

In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of allegations he abused a 13-year-old boy at the ranch.

Jackson never returned to Neverland. Four years later, in June 2009, Jackson died at another home in Los Angeles after suffering a cardiac arrest induced by a drug overdose.

Since his death Jackson has been the subject of further abuse allegations, including those made in a documentary called 'Leaving Neverland' in 2019.

Neverland has been rebranded as Sycamore Valley Ranch and has undergone extensive redevelopment since Jackson's death.

Mr Burkle's spokesman said the businessman saw the investment as a land banking opportunity.

He spotted the estate from the air while looking at another location and contacted Tom Barrack, the founder of real-estate investment company Colony Capital LLC, to seal the sale.

Mr Burkle, 68, is co-founder and managing partner of Yucaipa Companies, LLC, a private investment firm. His net worth as of 24 December 2020 was estimated to be $1.4bn, according to a profile by American business magazine Forbes.

It is unknown to what Burkle is planning to do with the property for now. It is an end of a era that the Michael Jackson fans were dreading of.

Pharrell Williams Says Tracks On Justin Timberlake's 'Justified' Were Originally Made For Michael Jackson. 20-12-'20

Pharrell WilliamsWhere would Justin Timberlake be today if Michael Jackson hadn’t passed on 'Justified'?

In a new interview on the Revolt TV podcast Drink Champs, producer Pharrell Williams reminisced with NORE & DJ EFN about his storied career, including their Superthug collaboration and being rejected by both Prince and Michael Jackson.

"Michael turned us down too," Pharrell shared, after telling the podcast hosts how Prince passed on one of his tracks.

NORE stepped in to share his memory of a call he had with Pharrell at the time. "You hit me and you said, 'Yo I just sent Michael Jackson some beats,'" he recalled.

'Justified' is now best known as Justin Timberlake's debut 2002 album. But according the Neptunes producer, all but one song was originally created for the 'King of Pop'.

"All but one song, they were all written for Michael," he said.

But Jackson wasn't interested. Instead, he wanted something more like Pharrell's iconic 1998 track with NORE.

"John McClain was like, 'Man Michael don't want that s...,'" Pharrell remembered. "'He want that s... you're giving Noreaga….he want that 'Superthug.'"

Elsewhere in the interview, Pharrell opened up about his feelings on the Drake vs Pusha T beef.

Michael Jackson Gave Janet Jackson The Sweetest Advice About Surviving Fame. 16-12-'20

Michael JacksonIt's quite an anomaly whenever an entertainer emerges from the world of show business to become a household name. Even rarer are when two people from the same family become similarly famous. Michael Jackson was one of the biggest recording artists of all time, but he wasn't the only one from his family to blow up in a major way.

His sister Janet did as well. One time, Michael gave Janet some great advice about dealing with the trials and tribulations of fame.

As Michael was achieving his meteoric rise to solo pop success, Janet was also putting out albums. She put out her first album in 1982 and slowly but surely became a superstar in her own right. According to Biography.com, her first major success was 1986's 'Control'. She continued to put out hit after hit throughout the 90s.

While Janet continued to appear on the Billboard charts with every album she released, she found herself in some major media hot water in 2004 through no fault of her own. Performing in the Super Bowl halftime show with Justin Timberlake, she had a "wardrobe malfunction" which resulted in Timberlake removing an article of her clothing.

Most of the backlash was reserved for her, while Timberlake emerged from the incident largely unscathed.

Music writer Lisa Robinson appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to talk about her new book. Robinson commented on the Jackson siblings when discussing a picture of herself and a young Janet featured in her book. Robinson spent a lot of time interviewing the Jackson 5. Robinson said that Janet had "no illusions about show business."

According to Robinson, Michael suggested the following advice to Janet: "Don't ever let bad things said about you bother you." Michael certainly knew a little something about having bad things said about him, as criticism and rumors followed him throughout his career.

Janet was also able to keep a decent amount of control over her career due to the fact that their father worked for her as her manager, rather than her working for him. Robinson said Janet eventually fired her Dad in favor of someone else.

Michael and Janet both had ridiculous amounts of success mixed in with some tough phases during both their careers. It goes without saying that Michael's advice to Janet must have been useful as she navigated the challenging nature of stardom.

Michael Jackson Estate Wins Appeal In HBO 'Leaving Neverland' Suit. 14-12-'20

HBOAn appeals court on Monday handed a victory to the estate of Michael Jackson in its battle over the 2019 HBO documentary 'Leaving Neverland', which accused the late singer of sexually abusing two young boys.

The Jackson estate sued HBO for $100 million, arguing that the documentary violated a 27-year-old non-disparagement clause from a 1992 concert film from the Dangerous tour. HBO has argued that the clause is irrelevant to the present dispute and accuses the Jackson estate of seeking to silence victims of sexual abuse.

Last year, a lower court granted the estate's motion to take the dispute to arbitration, as provided by the contract. HBO appealed, but on Monday a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal upheld the lower court ruling. The judges conceded that the suit may be “frivolous,” as HBO has claimed, but said it will be up to an arbitrator to make that call.

"The contract contained a broad arbitration clause that covers claims that HBO disparaged Jackson in violation of ongoing confidentiality obligations," the panel ruled. "We may only identify whether the parties agreed to arbitrate such claims; it is for the arbitrator to decide whether those claims are meritorious."

HBO had sought to avoid arbitration, saying that the network had never intended to grant Jackson and his heirs a veto over anything the network might ever want to say about him. The network's attorney, Theodore Boutrous, also argued that the 1992 contract had effectively expired once each side fulfilled its obligations.

The panel — Circuit Judges Richard Paez and Lawrence VanDyke and District Judge Karin Immergut — rejected that argument.

"An arbitration clause can still bind the parties, even if the parties fully performed the contract years ago," they ruled.

The network could appeal the panel's ruling to the full 9th Circuit, or now make its argument before an arbitrator.

Fake Michael Jackson Songs Lawsuit Boosted by Support From Consumer Protection Groups. 14-12-'20

Michael CD Album CoverOn Friday, December 11, 2020, the Berkeley Center for Consumer Law and Economic Justice filed an amicus curiae brief with the California Supreme Court in support of plaintiff Vera Serova’s ongoing lawsuit against Sony Music and the Estate of Michael Jackson.

The powerfully-worded brief was co-signed by 8 additional consumer protection organisations.

Serova's lawsuit, filed in 2014, alleges that Sony and the Estate misled her and millions of consumers when they commercially released the Michael album on December 14th, 2010 – exactly ten years ago today.

The lawsuit alleges that three songs on the album are forgeries sung by an impostor vocalist, and that Sony and the Estate falsely advertised those songs to consumers as authentic Jackson material.

The three songs at the centre of the lawsuit – Breaking News, Monster and Keep Your Head Up – were originally co-written and produced by Eddie Cascio and James Porte, who are co-defendants in the fraud component of the case.

The consumer protection organisations wrote in their joint filing on Friday that Serova's is a "straightforward case of deceptive advertising."

Yet the case has been in legal limbo for more than four years.

Back in 2016, Sony and the Estate filed an anti-SLAPP motion against Serova, claiming that her lawsuit was a 'strategic lawsuit against public participation' (SLAPP) intended to deny the billion-dollar corporations their purported constitutional right to sell fake songs as authentic Jackson material.

For the purposes of their legal arguments, Sony and the Estate conceded that Jackson was not the singer of the three songs in question. To be clear, this was not an outright admission that Jackson was not singing – after 6 years in court, that issue hasn’t even been addressed yet.

Rather, their concession was made in order to prevent Serova from presenting evidence that the songs are fakes. Under normal circumstances, Serova would have been required to demonstrate that her case wasn’t a shakedown, and that she could substantiate her claims with supporting evidence.

Hamid MoslehiYesterday (December 11), journalist John Ziegler announced that he met Hamid Moslehi and a film director to talk about the accusation towards Michael Jackson and his work with the 'King of Pop'. It seems the talks involved also a coffee table book.

Uninspired Official MJ Raglans Available At Michael Jackson Store. 11-12-'20

The Estate will release 2 new designs of raglans. A raglan sleeve is a sleeve that extends in one piece fully to the collar, leaving a diagonal seam from underarm to collarbone.

But again, this seems to be quickly done and pretty lazy! was out of words when I saw them! One design is a picture of 'Off The Wall' and the other one 'Dangerous'. Both have the description of "Michael Jackson" from Wikipedia in different languages in the back and/or sleeves.

MJ RaglansThe Estate will release 2 new designs of raglans. One design is a picture of 'Off The Wall' and the other one 'Dangerous'.

If the Estate needs someone on photoshop to remove that big light on the 'Dangerous' raglan or to come up with new designs that the fans will actually buy, please contact me as I am currently unemployed!

The raglan will cost you $50 or £50 and will not be shipped before January 25, 2021 meaning it might arrive for Christmas 2021! But frankly and honestly, they are a mess and pretty ugly if you take out Michael's pictures!

Taj Jackson has an update on his documentary series which is still on hold due to COVID-19 but it seems there are some movements:

"First I'd like to say that your continued patience through production delays caused by this pandemic is greatly appreciated.

I thank each and every one of you for your generous past donations and emotional support. I assure you that you will be pleased once you see the completed series.

I have utilized this "off" time to put together an awesome team of people that I am extremely excited about. At the beginning of next year I will announce this team and their various roles.

This project will be what my uncle deserves and something he would be extremely proud of. Not just in the outcome, but the dedication, support, and love surrounding it.

We will permanently change the misconceptions and narratives built by opportunists and the media. Lies will be exposed! The Truth will finally be cemented.

That said, I ask for a little more time and patience while we get through this pandemic. I look forward to returning to production(filming) soon.

Together, we will Re-Right HIStory.

Barry Gibb Says 'Trapped' Michael 'Didn't Know Who His Friends Were'. 07-12-'20

Barry GibbBarry Gibb has revealed he once had to "politely" ask Michael Jackson to leave his house, after overstaying his welcome because he "didn't know who his friends were."

The Bee Gees star worked with Jackson in 2002, shortly after the initial invasion of Iraq, with the pair writing a song responding to the conflict. However, Gibb suspected that Jackson had ulterior motives while collaborating.

"We sat around in my lounge for days at a time, just having fun, not really writing songs," Gibb recalled to The Guardian. "We came up with one, 'All In My Name', but we were never that serious about it. I think Michael was just trying to escape the legal environment he was trapped in, he was visiting people he knew that he could relate to, because he didn't know who his friends were."

In 2002, Jackson was embroiled in controversy as a result of a documentary in which he confessed that he sometimes shared his bed with a young boy. He was also involved in a high-profile battle with his record label Sony at the time.

Gibb remembered that Jackson's presence in his home soon became a problem for him and his family.

He remembered: "He started to hang out at the house all the time and I had to get up in the morning; I'm 12 years older than him, I had to take my kids to school. At some point, I said: 'Michael, wherever it is you’re going, you've got to go.' So I politely asked Michael Jackson to leave my house because I couldn't get anything else done."

Gibb is the last surviving Bee Gee following the deaths of his brothers Robin, in 2012, and Maurice, in 2003. Their youngest brother Andy, who performed solo, died in 1988.

Their story is told in a new documentary, titled How Can You Mend a Broken Heart. It will be broadcast on 13 December on Sky Documentaries.

Documentary 'Trial By Media: The Michael Jackson Story'. 05-12-'20

A new documentary is coming called 'Trial By Media: The Michael Jackson Story'.

From the trailer, it seems to be a very positive Michael Jackson documentary showcasing the truth behind the allegations.

Directed by Jin Chohan who already did a documentary on Michael Jackson called 'Leaving Neverland: The Aftermath', he is back and saying:

"This documentary will include interviews from key players and personalities to a feature investigation designed for a streaming service such as Netflix. The documentary looks at the medias willingness to embrace stories and push a narrative in relation to what we think in the court of public opinion."

This documentary is being made from a perspective of pure journalistic integrity. 'Leaving Neverland' and it’s push from the media and subsequent effects on Wade Robson and James Safechuck's lawsuits, is the thread that weaves the story of how the Media has told the Michael Jackson story for decades. Why do we think what we think about Mr Jackson, why is he such an emotional topic that hits home to the public conscious. The courts have time and time again sided with Michael Jackson where as the media hasn't, why is this the case, what gives, what is going on here?

This is the premise of this documentary, Trial By Media: The Michael Jackson Story. A look into the medias portrayal of Michael Jackson and how talking heads have made careers out of Michael Jackson’s career. He wasn’t the guy next door, he can't be so why does the media expect him to be orthodox. It's a paradox of media intention, to where the success is welcomed and the persons life is not.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe for my documentary, it is hugely appreciated – immensely. A quality documentary can only be made with a budget and a budget of 20k is still on the small end, but I believe in my skills and I've been taught at UCLA how to stretch these funds to make a documentary which is of a high caliber.

Production for the documentary starts next month, November, the funds are and will help to produce something of quality with a fair analysis of the Michael Jackson story as told by the Media.

To help finishing the documentary, you can donate on GoFundMe.

Steve LukatherToto's Steve Lukather On Michael. 04-12-'20

In an interview with Justin Beckner of ultimateguitar, Toto’s guitarist Steve Lukather talks about what it was like in the studio with Michael Jackson working on 'Thriller'.

Beckner: You've worked with so many great people. What was your first impression of Michael Jackson? What was that first meeting like?

Lukather: "I was a fan. I always thought he was a great singer and all that. At the time I had been doing all of Quincy's stuff. It was after 'Off The Wall' and he told me he would like to have me on the next record so I said that would be killer, I'd love to be on the next record. So one of the first things we did was the duet with McCartney, so that was a hell of a way to start it all off. It was just a blast, being in a room with these guys. They were the biggest stars in the world. Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones, George Martin, Jeff Emrick, all of us, it was just a trip. That was a 'pinch me' moment. It was like, 'How did I get here?'. But Michael was always really cool to me. Michael was cool, man, he was a pro. He knew what he wanted and I guess he loved what we did. He kept hiring us."

Beckner: Is it true that the original riff for 'Beat It' was deemed too heavy?

Lukather: 'Yeah, that's true. I did it knowing that Eddie (Van Halen) was already on it. So I figured if he's going to do something with Eddie, let's rock 'n' roll it up. So, I quadrupled the riff with some Marshalls and stuff like that and sent it over to him. I played all the guitar parts and all the bass parts. He said, 'It's too much. The guitars are too heavy. You've got to use one of you little Fender amps or something.' So I went in with my little Fender Deluxe and that calmed it down a little bit.
They didn't really crank it in the mix. Then I went over and overdubbed and came up with some of the other rhythm parts that are on the record with Michael and Quincy in the room. The other stuff was just me and Jeff (Porcaro) trying to make everything work because someone in Eddie's camp cut the 2-inch tape and screwed up the SMPTE Code so it wouldn't sync back up. So we had to make a new version to the old version that didn't have a click track or anything. Jeff Porcaro, the genius that he was, kind of put that whole click thing together and we were able to remake the record."

Martin Bashir 'Has Michael Jackson's Blood On His Hands' After Controversial Documentary. 04-12-'20

Brian Oxman
Michael's former confidant and lawyer Brian Oxman.

Under-fire Martin Bashir is today accused of having 'blood on his hands' over the death of Michael Jackson as a new row broke out over the TV presenter's practice.

The 'King of Pop's former confidant and lawyer Brian Oxman claims Bashir "set up" Jackson and wanted him "brought down" on TV like Princess Diana – sparking a chain of events that led to the star's 2009 overdose death.

It comes after police said they may probe Bashir's 1995 Panorama interview with Diana, if a complaint is made.

Her brother Earl Spencer has alleged Bashir showed him fake financial papers and lied about the royals to get access.

Oxman also claims Bashir misled the 'Thriller' star while making 2003 documentary 'Living With Michael Jackson'.

He says Bashir "induced" the singer into making admissions after praising his "parenting skills". Jackson admitted to Bashir he let kids sleep in his bed at his Neverland Ranch and the show led California police to charge Jackson with molesting and intoxicating children.

Jackson was cleared in 2005 and unearthed legal papers show his lawyers had tried to make Bashir take the stand.

They accused Bashir of continuous misrepresentation and lying "over and over again", promising it would be a "positive film".

But Bashir ducked cross-examination about his methods to gain interviews by using an obscure local law that essentially protects journalists from divulging details of unaired interactions.

We can reveal Bashir would have been shown footage of him praising Jackson's closeness to kids as "spiritually kind".

Oxman says Jackson had all interviews with Bashir filmed separately and foot-age shows "a completely different story."

On the ITV show, watched by over 500 million worldwide, the host called Neverland a "dangerous place for a vulnerable child" – but Oxman says Jackson's footage has Bashir saying "it was a privilege" to film him helping sick kids and that misrepresentation of that would be "disgusting". In unaired scenes he said: "It almost makes me weep. Your interaction is just so natural, loving."

Oxman believes the molestation trial "tormented Jackson until the day he passed". He said: "Some of the family feel Martin Bashir has blood on his hands.

"He brought down Princess Diana on TV. He wanted to do the same with the biggest entertainer in the world.

"Michael was cleared on all counts, but these false accusations meant whatever he did, a cloud hung over him."

Oxman revealed how on day one of the star's trial Bashir, a prosecution witness, "strolled up to him and apologetically said: 'Nothing personal, Michael'".

Oxman said: "Michael was fuming. Bashir had many questions to answer."

Jackson's lawyers wanted Bashir to be questioned and "held in contempt" but the judge never ruled on the matter.

Bashir's spokesman was approached yesterday (December 3) but made no comment.
