National Rhythm & Blues Hall Of Fame Museum In Plan. 30-01-'20

Bay City is the birthplace of pop singer Madonna, but it could one day be home to the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.

And it might include Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5!

The founder of the hall, LaMont Robinson, plans to meet with Bay City officials to discuss his plan for a $25 million museum. He is shopping the concept to other Michigan cities, including Flint and Detroit.

"I think it would be a great draw, it would really really put Bay City even more on the map," Robinson said. "Bay City sits in a very, very strategic area for that if the city, state and community got behind it, it could be one of the biggest attractions in the world."

Robinson has operated the hall out of his Detroit office since 2014.

The hall has inducted members of the genre's musical pantheon for about a decade, honoring greats such as Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, James Brown and Prince. The organization has collected memorabilia but does not have a museum space to display it. By finding a permanent home, Robinson hopes the hall will become an attraction similar to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame.

Robinson's vision is for a highly-interactive museum that includes virtual reality and other technology, a themed restaurant, a theater and a section telling the history of hip-hop in America, he said. Robinson likes Bay City's proximity to Saginaw and Flint, with communities like Detroit not too far away either, he said.

Bay City Manager Dana Muscott said the city is in preliminary discussions with Robinson and is in the process of setting up an in-person meeting.

Robinson wants to have narrowed down a home by April, so the hall can hold its next induction ceremony in the city. To make that work, he's willing to move the ceremony back to October at most, he said. It might take a two-year period to raise the funds needed, which Robinson previously estimated to be about $25 million, but the hall will continue to hold induction ceremonies there while they do, he said.

Robinson hopes the public takes an interest in the project and that it can be funded without much strain on taxpayers. He said the organization plans on seeking grants, corporate sponsorships, naming rights and other sources of funding beyond city, state and federal. The opportunity to renovate an existing building would also keep costs down, he said.

"I've been actively looking for a city for the past 8 years," Robinson said. "Before we leave the state of Michigan, I want to give an opportunity to some city that will bring 500,000 people (annually.)"

Randy Taraborrelli DocumentaryA Mystery Michael Jackson Documentary On The Way. 30-01-'20

Randy Taraborrelli, known by the fans for his biography books on Michael Jackson (and also some made up stories about the 'King of Pop'), has just confirmed he participated in the filming of a new Michael Jackson documentary.

Taraborrelli confirmed the new documentary will be 4 hours long, involving major Michael Jackson protagonists and will be released later this year on a major network.

Fans have rushed to the Facebook post to check if this new documentary was a more positive one and Taraborrelli responded:

You know I usually don't participate. I'm trying to be a little more visible because I think if people like me continue to be quiet because of the inevitable social media backlash, it doesn't serve MJ's legacy. So, I'm carefully tiptoeing out there again to REMIND PEOPLE.

At this stage, it is unclear who is behind the documentary who are those "MJ Big Shots" are but we will keep you informed.

UPDATE 30/01/2020 -07pm:

Two Part , Four Hour Michael Jackson Documentary About 2005 Child Molestation and Conspiracy Trial, Arvizo Family Coming from A&E in June.

Now comes a two part, four hour documentary about Jackson's 2005 child molestation and conspiracy trial from A&E. I'm told the special will air in June on the anniversary of Jackson's acquittal, which is also two weeks short of 11th anniversary of his death.

The special is being put together by Atlas Entertainment, owned Michael and Michelle Walrath. Michael was described in the New York Times as a 'nightlife and tech mogul'. Among their films: 'Tapped' and 'Fed Up'.

The filmmakers are trying to talk to everyone involved in the 2005 trial including the Arvizo family, who were used by Santa Barbara District Attorney Tom Sneddon in his vendetta against Jackson. Janet Arvizo and her then 13 year old son Gavin claimed Michael molested the boy. Eighteen grueling months of embarrassing negative publicity culminated in a graphic trial. Thanks to the truth, and defense attorney Thomas Mesereau, Jackson was acquitted. But the episode wore on Jackson and pushed him into a series of misadventures that ended his life four years later.

What will be interesting is to see if the filmmakers can get the Arvizo's to talk, and get at the truth of what happened. I hear they've spoken with Sneddon's second in command, Ron Zonen, who helped prosecute Jackson. Zonen wound up marrying a prosecution witness, Louise Palanker, who billed herself as a comedian in 2005, and testified for the family. Despite the jury verdict for Jackson, Palanker and Zonen went on to attend Gavin Arvizo's wedding.

The Arvizo's claimed that in addition to the molestation, Jackson had "kidnapped" them to keep them quiet. But I reported extensively on the case at the time, and none of that was true. Their so called abduction included first class hotel stays, movies, dinners out, toys, clothes, and for Janet Arvizo, spa days. Janet Arvizo was revealed on the witness stand to be a total nut when Mesereau asked if she thought Michael Jackson would take her kids away in a hot air balloon. She answered in the affirmative. Laughter broke out in courtroom, Judge Melville banged his gavel, and the trial was for most purposes over.

To be confirmed!

'We Are The World' 35 Years On. 28-01-'20

On January 28, 1985, Michael Jackson managed to get 40 great musicians to record 'We Are The World', the solidarity song par excellence, which raised funds against the famine in Ethiopia.

The BBC was the first television network that aired the situation in 1984 in Ethiopia: a catastrophic famine that, in the midst of a terrible civil war, ended up killing more than one million people.

But the terrifying images of malnourished children, of scavengers waiting for the moment when the children died to take their 'prey', touched the heart of the great music stars, who thought it was The time to start doing something.

The initiative started with social activist Harry Belafonte, who wanted to replicate something similar to what Bob Geldof had done with his Band Aid in the United Kingdom. Geldof had recorded a carol carol entitled 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', with a supergroup formed by David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Paul Young, George Michael, Sting and members of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Heaven 17, The Boomtown Rats, Bananarama, U2, Ultravox, Status Quo, among other sets.

We Are The World Video Clip
The World première of the video clip took place on March 08, 1985.

On January 28, 1985, after the American Awards, a large number of artists in Los Angeles took advantage to come together at the A&M Recording Studios in Hollywood, with Quincy Jones as a front man and who told them: "Leave your egos at the door."

The group was named United Support of Artist for Africa (USA for Africa) and aimed to raise funds for a million Ethiopians. It was 10:30 pm when this fantastic choir entered to record on the audio track, created on January 22 with the voices of Richie and Jackson.

The main solo parts were from Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins , Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles.

The choir (in alphabetical order): Dan Aykroyd, Harry Belafonte, Lindsey Buckingham, Mario Cipollina, Johnny Colla, Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Bill Gibson, Chris Hayes, Sean Hopper, Jackie Jackson, LaToya Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Randy Jackson, Tito Jackson, Waylon Jennings, Bette Midler, John Oates, Jeffrey Osborne, The Pointer Sisters and Smokey Robinson.

It was worth it, as it became one of the best-selling singles in history, with 20 million units and won the Grammy for the Song of the Year and the Disco of the Year.

But most important of all, is that 'We Are The World' marked the way for artists who would like to contribute to humanitarian acts, and raising nothing less than 75 million dollars and becoming an emblem of the fight against poverty.

I Want To Dedicate This Award To Michael Jackson For 'Off The Wall'. 27-01-'20

By accepting the President's Merit Award at the Salute to Industry Icons gala; He emphasizes his acceptance speech that the hip-hop community needs transparency and diversity.

Rap mogul Sean "P Diddy" Combs pointed to the besieged heads of the Recording Academy for its treatment of hip-hop acts, as it accepted one of the organization's main awards on Saturday, January 25.

While the Grammy chiefs continue to lick their wounds after the recent accusations of corruption and inappropriate sexual behavior by Executive President and President Deborah Dugan, Diddy gave the Recording Academy officials another purple eye during their acceptance speech. President's Merit Award at the Salute to Industry Icons gala in Beverly Hills.

Confessing that he had felt in conflict about picking up the prize, the rapper was enraged: "In fact, hip-hop has never been respected by the Grammys. Black music has never been respected by the Grammys to the point that it should be … And that stops now."

P Diddy
'Y'all got 365 days': Diddy puts Grammys on notice in fiery speech.

"I'm officially starting the clock. You have 365 days to fix this. We need transparency, we need diversity. They are (heads of academy) a nonprofit organization that is supposed to protect the welfare of the music community. But it will take us all to do this. It will take artists and executives to recognize their power. So sign up. I'm here to help make a difference and help us have a positive outcome."

Then he went on to dedicate his prize to Kanye west, Beyoncé Knowles and the other black artists who have been rejected or overlooked by the Grammy bosses for the main album awards. Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z were in the audience, along with stars like Keith Urban, Joni Mitchell, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, MigosY Janet Jackson.

"We have seen Quincy jones Y Michael Jackson; Michael Jackson has eight Grammys and was dropping the Grammys, "Diddy added." But do you know why he was dropping the Grammys and why he got eight Grammys? Because he was never nominated for 'Off The Wall'. Then 'Thriller' it was his revenge.

"My goal used to be to make successful albums. Now it's about ensuring that culture advances. My culture. Our culture. Black culture. And to be worthy of receiving an icon award, I have to use my experience to help make a change. On that note, I'm finishing: you all have 365 days."

"I want to dedicate this award to Michael Jackson for 'Off The Wall', Prince for '1999', Beyoncé for 'Lemonade', Missy Elliott for 'The Real World', Snoop Dogg for 'Doggystyle', Kanye West for 'Graduation and Nas for 'Illmatic'."

On The Wall Exhibition'On The Wall Exhibition' Is Off The Wall. 26-01-'20

The final bow! The exhibition 'On The Wall' which toured London (UK), Paris (France), Bonn (Germany) and Espoo (Finland) has now closed its doors today, sealing a triumphant display of work inspired by Michael Jackson.

The Exhibition opened in London on June 28, 2018 and was hailed as an instant success for the general public and fans like.

This landmark exhibition explored the influence of Michael Jackson on some of the leading names in contemporary art, spanning several generations of artists across all different types of medium.

Michael Jackson is one of the most influential cultural figures to come out of the 20th century and his legacy continues into the 21st century. His significance is widely acknowledged when it comes to music, music videos, dance, choreography and fashion, but his considerable influence on contemporary art is an untold story. Since Andy Warhol first used his image in 1982, Jackson has become the most depicted cultural figure in visual art by an extraordinary array of leading contemporary artists. This was the first time that an exhibition brought together works from over forty artists, drawn from public and private collections around the world, including new works made especially for the exhibition.

'Michael Jackson: On The Wall' was produced with the co-operation of the Michael Jackson Estate and received sponsorship from Hugo Boss in the UK.

'Michael Jackson: On The Wall' in London took place at the National Portrait Gallery right in the heart of London city from June 28 to October 21, 2018. Over 82,000 people visited the exhibition which was beautifully set.

'Michael Jackson: On The Wall' then moved to Paris at the Grand Palais on Champs Elysees and took place from November 23, 2018 to February 14, 2019. While the pieces were the same, the setting was more industrial, pushing fast and furious over 150,000 visitors through the doors.

Then Bonn in Germany was lucky to have the 'Michael Jackson: On The Wall' which took place at Bundeskunsthalle from March 22 to July 14, 2019. The setting there was perfect and had even more pieces presented in a setting that was designed to feature aspects of Michael's wardrobe as the colour palette. Maybe one of the best setting for this exhibition!

Whilst a "movie" was ravaging the world with its lies about Michael Jackson, coverage of the exhibition was somewhat quieter. Nicholas Cullinan, the curator and creator of the Exhibition gave a speech and statement at the opening of Bonn's exhibition to defend the value of the exhibition and Finland was barely promoted throughout its time from August 21, 2019 to January 26, 2020.

While we are waiting for the final numbers of visitors from Bonn and Espoo, it seems the exhibition collectively was a huge success. Thousands of fans went to see it across the four European cities and MJ Vibe was pleased to have teamed up with the Exhibition, offering competitions, merchandise and sharing the news with the fans around the world. It is sad to see the end of a nearly 2 years of seeing Michael Jackson through the eyes of artists.

A big thank you to all those involved in the four cities and all the fans who have attended the exhibitions.

What Lady Gaga Really Thinks About Michael Jackson Since Watching 'Leaving Neverland'. 24-01-'20

Lady GagaLady Gaga has talked many times over the years about the musical influences that helped mold her into the artist she is today. It's clear from her name that Queen had a big impact on her, but she also regularly mentions David Bowie, Madonna, and Michael Jackson as well.

Now, in the wake of resurfacing abuse claims against the late Michael Jackson, thanks in large part to the documentary film 'Leaving Neverland', has Gaga changed her tune?

Gaga said it best herself: "I never didn't love [Jackson]. Through all of the media drama and the nonsense, I never didn't love Michael. I always, always loved Michael."

This was in a 2011 interview, years after Jackson had already been tried and acquitted for child molestation charges.

Undeterred by the reports and allegations, Gaga was a huge fan of Jackson's and felt a deep level of respect for him. Before his death, she was set to open for him on tour, with plans to possibly sing some duets together.

She told Larry King in an interview: "Michael's death was devastating for me regardless of whether or not I was supposed to go on tour with him. He's such an inspiration and remarkable human being."

In 2012, as the details of his estate were continuing to be sorted, Jackson's clothes were to be auctioned off, a fact that didn't sit right with Gaga. She told Howard Stern: "With Michael, the fact that he's not here and that his clothes are being sold made me feel really uncomfortable. And it made me feel very upset."

She ended up buying 55 pieces of Jackson's wardrobe with the promise that they'd be kept pristine and at the right temperature. When asked in an interview with Ellen if she ever wore the 'King of Pop's' clothes, she confessed that she sometimes wore certain lesser-known pieces in the recording studio or when she was feeling down, but that she felt they — the clothes — told her it was okay.

Michael Jackson's Estate And BMI Extend 41-Year Publishing Pact. 21-01-'20

The Estate Of Michael Jackson
The Estate Of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson's estate and BMI have renewed their pact for the publishing rights organization to represent the late singer's songwriting catalog, as it has since 1979. The length of the new deal was not announced, but it was last reupped in 2014.

"The influence of Michael Jackson's revolutionary music is undeniable," Mike O'Neill, BMI's president & CEO, said in a statement. "We are extremely pleased that his estate continues to entrust BMI to represent his extraordinary catalog."

John Branca and John McClain, longtime co-executors of the estate, released their own statement celebrating the extension. "Michael first signed with BMI in the nascent stage of his solo career and BMI has never wavered in its commitment to his extraordinary talent," they said. "This is a significant agreement, commensurate with the robust growth of interest in his music and his enduring contribution to the culture."

Jackson had a writing hand in most of his hits, with a catalog of more than 150 co-writes that includes such signature smashes as 'Billie Jean', 'We Are The World', 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', 'Bad', 'Black Or White' and 'Smooth Criminal'.

BMI pointed out in announcing the deal that on-demand streams of his songs increased by 23% last year, a bigger jump than the one experienced by the industry at large. He's racked up an estimated 6.5 billion streams, a medium that was barely underway when Jackson died in 2009.

A jukebox musical built around Jackson's songs, "MJ", with a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, is set to open on Broadway in the summer of 2020. The Jackson estate is collaborating on the musical with Columbia Live Stage.

Sony Wins Fake Michael Jackson Recording Claims For Second Time. 10-01-'20

Sony MusicFor a second time, Sony Music beat claims in California state court that it deceived customers about whether some tracks on a posthumous Michael Jackson album were sung by Jackson.

The Court of Appeal of California affirmed Jan. 8 that Sony's statements were still protected under state law following a relevant California Supreme Court opinion published after its initial ruling.

Vera Serova, the Michael Jackson fan that took the Estate & Sony to court over the 3 fake songs ('Breaking News', 'Monster' & 'Keep Your Head Up') has again lost her appeal to prove wrong doing from Sony Music in the promotion of the album 'Michael' released in 2010.

Sony, the Estate of Michael J. Jackson, and MJJ Productions appealed from the superior court's order partially denying their motion to strike under the anti-SLAPP statute. Plaintiff alleged that defendants marketed a posthumous Michael Jackson album in violation of the Unfair Competition Law (UCL) and the Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA). Plaintiff also brought a fraud claim against the Cascio Defendants, alleging that they knowingly misrepresented to defendants that Jackson was the lead singer on the three tracks at issue.

Upon reconsideration in light of FilmOn.com Inc. v. Double Verify Inc. (2019) 7 Cal.5th 133, the Court of Appeal held that its prior opinion was correct. In the prior opinion, the court held that plaintiff's claims against defendants arose from conduct furthering defendants' right of free speech in connection with a public issue, and that plaintiff did not show a probability that her claims under the UCL and the CLRA would succeed because the claims concern noncommercial speech that is not actionable under those statutes.

The court largely adopted the prior opinion, except that it revised the discussion of the first step of the anti-SLAPP procedure to take into account the FilmOn decision and its application to the circumstances of this case. The court held that defendants' challenged statements were sufficiently connected to an issue of public interest to warrant anti-SLAPP protection. In this case, the representations that plaintiff challenged did not simply promote sale of the album, but also stated a position on a disputed issue of public interest.

The Casino is set to have a Jackson Family Museum regrouping some of the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons's artifacts.

In 2019 Indiana passed a new gaming law that authorized construction of a new casino in Gary. Spectacle Entertainment, who had purchased the two Majestic Star casino boats in Buffington Harbor in March 2019, was granted permission to move the Majestic Star casino licenses to a new casino to be constructed on land in Gary, Indiana.

The site of Hard Rock Casino Gary is a 27-acre parcel on the southside of the Borman Expressway at Burr Street and 29th Avenue.

Construction of the Hard Rock Casino Gary will have two phases. The first phase will build the 200,000-square-foot casino including a Hard Rock Cafe and Hard Rock Live concert venue. This phase will open in late 2020 or early 2021. A second phase of construction will add a 200-room hotel and parking structure opening 2022-2023.

Hard Rock Casino Indiana
Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana will be a $300 million casino with a Hard Rock Cafe, Hard Rock Live concert center and a 200-room hotel. The grand opening is targeted for Dec. 31, 2020.

The 3 Jackson Brothers opened the building site and it is not clear yet on how big the museum will be and how many items will be present.

In addition to a Hard Rock casino, it will include a Hard Rock Café, a Hard Rock Live concert venue, restaurants, and bars, on 30 acres.

The Hard Rock Casino will have up to 2,764 gaming positions, according to a news release.

While in Gary, Jackie and Tito Jackson dropped by Gary's West Side Leadership Academy on Wednesday for a tour of its performing arts classrooms and to see students demonstrate their talents in orchestra, dance, voice, recording techniques and theatrics.

The last time the brothers visited the school, then known as West Side High School, was for a 1971 concert featured the same year in The Jackson 5's 'Goin' Back To Indiana' television special, The (Northwest Indiana) Times reported.

When asked what advice the brothers would give students who want to pursue a career in the performing arts, Tito responded: "You have to work hard." Jackie added that, "I would tell them to follow their dreams and never give up."

MJ PortraitMichael Jackson Ordered 70 Portraits From Pierre Et Gilles. 09-01-'20

Did you know back in the 1990s, Michael Jackson phoned French photographer Pierre Commoy and painter Gilles Blanchard — better known as Pierre et Gilles — to place an order for 70 portraits.

The 'King of Pop' was eager for his own opulent icon, perhaps having seen the duo's fairytale depictions of Madonna as a flute-toting Japanese divinity or Boy George as the Hindu god Krishna.

But Michael Jackson had failed to understand the labor of love that went into each image, requiring the construction of a three-dimensional theatre set, built from scratch, with details meticulously hand-painted on each photograph after it is printed.

"Like many others, I think he assumed we did everything in Photoshop," said Blanchard, one half of the partners-in-life-and-art, whose production has never exceeded 20 portraits a year. "So we sadly had to refuse."

The story came from an interview of the two artists who are currently holding an exhibition in Paris.

However, in 2017, Pierre et Gilles made a tribute to the 'King of Pop' called "Loving You".

Shame those pictures did not come to life! We can only imagine how it would have been!

Pierre et Gilles, "Factory of Idols" runs at Cité de la Musique in Paris until 23 February 2020. Pierre et Gilles, "Le Goût du Cinéma" continues at Centre d'art La Malmaison in Cannes until 26 April 2020.

Mike TysonMike Tyson Says Michael Jackson Was A 'Player'. 08-01-'20

Mike Tyson says he hated Michael Jackson's guts for YEARS -- calling him a "cold motherf**ker" -- until he got to know the singer ... and that's when everything changed.

The boxing superstar opened up about his experience with MJ on T.I.'s "Expeditiously" podcast ... saying Jackson dissed him backstage at a concert in 1986.

Tyson says he had just become the heavyweight champion of the world -- and had become super famous -- but Jackson treated him as if he was a nobody. Tyson said MJ straight-up hurt his feelings.

"It broke my ego," Tyson said ... "It crushed me."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Tyson says he harbored some serious animosity toward MJ for years -- saying, "That cold motherf**ker. I hated his guts forever."

But, a while later, a mutual friend approached Tyson and said MJ wanted to hang out -- so he swallowed his pride and visited with the singer, hoping to squash the beef.

Not only did they bury the hatchet, Mike says he quickly learned Jackson was a cunning genius, and not a "f**king idiot".

"He wasn't no f**king stupid little feeble lookin' boy like Peter Pan. He's f**king sharp. He knew what f**kin' time it was. It blew my mind."

Tyson even says MJ was a "player" who was an expert in seduction -- and the 'King of Pop' would offer up pointers on how to land beautiful women.

"I thought he was a f**king idiot until I met him that day," Tyson said ... "I learned to respect him. I knew he was a player."
