Michael JacksonMichael Jackson Top Of Best Seller In Brazil Since 2003. 07-02-'21

A report on music charts in Brazil was released today and with no big surprise, Michael Jackson is on the top of the list of Best Seller International Artists with 2,834,010 units since 2003 only in Brazil.

No surprise there as Brazil counts many Michael Jackson Fans, the country loves Michael Jackson and even when a wannabe artist criticises Michael, the fans and the press refute and argue with facts! Brazil also have Michael Jackson Statue, murals and a deep love for the 'King of Pop', especially since his visit for the filming of 'They Don't Care About Us', directed by Spike Lee.

But the big surprise is that the top selling album for Michael in Brazil since 2003, is actually an unofficial album called 'The Best Of Michael Jackson Live'.

Pointing out that piracy is a huge problem in Brazil until streaming arrived but clearly, this is a huge failure for Sony Brazil as this unofficial album sold 620,000 units since 2003 when 'Thriller' for example, and which is the biggest selling album for Michael, sold 349,000 units, while 'Number Ones' stands at 316,710 units and 'Off The Wall', 'Bad' and 'Dangerous' stand around 100,000 tracked units each, same as 'King Of Pop' at 113,000.

I guess Sony Brazil and the Estate wish they thought of putting out an official live Album… a bit too late for Brazil but could work for the rest of the world! One can dream!

Honoring Black Live Performance History: Aug. 20, 1983, James Brown, Michael Jackson & Prince At The Beverly Theater. 02-02-'21

James Brown's legendary concert w/ B.B. King (20-08-1983)In honor of Black History Month, Pollstar is spotlighting seminal live performances by black artists every day throughout February. With a deep, rich tradition of transcendent and powerful performers across genres and the ages, we are well aware that we can only scratch the surface of so many thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, brilliant Black performances. In fact, any one genre by itself, be it Jazz, Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, Blues, Rock, Classical, House, Techno, Country, Reggae and more, could easily fill this one list. Therefore, in this series, we aim to hit on a variety of music from different periods and sounds to help put into perspective the depth and range of so much incredible Black music performances that have infinitely enriched our culture and lives.

On an already incredible night of music that saw James Brown performing with the blues legend B.B. King at L.A.'s Beverly Theater, 'The Godfather of Soul' brought out two unexpected surprise superstar guests to make the night legendary. It came towards the end of the night during an extended jam of 'It's A Man's Man's Man's World' when Brown, much to the audience's shock and awe, called Michael Jackson up to the stage from the audience.

Michael Jackson, in his 'Thriller' prime, took the stage, sang a couple of pitch perfect 'I Love You' and then pow! The JB's amped up the tempo and lit into 'Hustle!!! (Dead On It)'. as the 'King of Pop' exploded into several of his classic dance moves: the quadruple spin, the 'Thriller' knee band and gravity-defying moonwalk. On his way off stage Jackson whispered something into Brown's ear.

Captain Neo'Captain NEO', The New 'Captain EO'. 01-02-'21

OK! This is old news but as some photos are circulating on social media about the return to space 'Captain EO', we just wanted to clarify!

As you know, Disney works on multiple projects every year, for movies, cartoon, TV and diverse kid's channels.

In 2018, a list of projects that Disney was considering working on leaked. The list was a number of titles and drawings for TV cartoon and this list included 'The Aristocats' based on the movie of the same name; 'Park Poppers' a variation of 'Mary Poppins', 'The Haunted Mansion' based on Eddie Murphy's movie and 'Captain Neo', an TV adaptation of 'Captain EO' with Michael Jackson.

This list was joined with a pre-view drawing of each TV series and obviously, most of them never came to life and went back straight to the Disney vault… for now!

'Captain Neo' was supposed to be a mini series created by Joe Pitt, directed by Moreno Hugo and animated by Matt Williames and Clio Chiang but Disney rejected it.

So the only thing left is this drawing and the name from 2018!
