Bad Album Cover'Bad' Abum Passes The 1.5 Billion Streams Mark On Spotify. 30-06-'21

Michael Jackson's 'Bad' hymnal surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify, making it the 'King of Pop's second album to achieve such a feat!

Released on August 31, 1987, 'Bad' was written and recorded for over three and a half years — in addition to being the final collaboration between himself and Quincy Jones. The album received six Grammy nominations — it won the Best Music Video and the Best Engineered Recording — Non Classical. It entered Rolling Stone's Top 500 Albums list and is the fifth best-selling album of all time — with nearly 45 million copies worldwide. In 2017, it was certified with a Diamond Plaque for sales in excess of 10 million in the United States.

Nine songs were released as singles; five reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — a record that was only equaled more than 20 years later by Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' (2010).

'MJ The Musical' Cast Shakeup, Myles Frost Replacing Ephraim Sykes As Michael Jackson. 29-06-'21

MJ Musical'MJ The Musical', the upcoming musical about the life of pop singer Michael Jackson, will begin performances in December, but when it does, a new actor will be moonwalking into the role of 'The Gloved One'.

Newcomer Myles Frost will make his Broadway debut in the production, replacing Ephraim Sykes, the 'Ain't Too Proud' and 'Hamilton' veteran who had originally been tapped to play Jackson. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the opening of 'MJ The Musical' by several months and shut down the theater business. It also created a scheduling conflict for Sykes, who has to shoot a role in a feature film.

"It's with a heavy heart that I depart 'MJ'," Sykes said in a statement. "This year has brought a lot of change and opportunity, and although it's bittersweet to say goodbye to an iconic role and production, I look forward to what is to come. Thank you to the 'MJ' team and congratulations to Myles. I can’t wait to see you shine as the 'King of Pop' and for us all to celebrate the return of Broadway."

Frost was cast following a long search for performer who could convincingly play the 'King of Pop', one of those performers who could hit the right notes while also believably pulling off the singer's elaborate dances. 'MJ The Musical' will begin performances on Broadway on December 6, 2021, with an opening night set for Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Neil Simon Theatre.

Jackson's long list of hits includes 'Billie Jean', 'Bad' and 'Thriller' continue to draw fans, but his career was mired in controversy after he was accused in 1993 of sexually abusing a child. That case was settled out of court, but in 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of additional sexual abuse allegations involving minors. 'MJ' is backed by the Jackson estate, which denies the allegations, so it's unclear how it will handle or if it will even address that part of the singer's legacy. Jackson died from an overdose of propofol in 2009 at the age of 50.

'MJ The Musical' features a book by Lynn Nottage ('Sweat') and will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon ('An American In Paris').

Janet Shared A Rare Photo Of Herself With Late Brother Michael For This Sad Anniversary. 28-06-'21

If you are a Michael Jackson fan, then you probably remember where you were on the day of his death; June 25th, 2009. We can only imagine how hard this week must be for his family — he was survived by sons Prince Michael, now 24, and Prince Michael II, now 19, as well as daughter Paris Jackson, now 23, and siblings Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Randy, Marlon, Rebbie, LaToya, and Janet Jackson.

It's been 12 years since that shocking event, and sister Janet is in a special way. She's posted some pretty awesome throwback pictures of her family on her Instagram in the past and her latest definitely stole our hearts. This year, on the anniversary of Michael's death, she shared a rare photo of herself posing with her famous brother and it made our hearts go out to his family.

Michael and JanetThe picture were taken during the 35th Annual Grammy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Michael is presented with the Grammy Legend Award by his sister Janet.

Janet posted the photo to Instagram with a white heart emoji as the caption. In the photo, Janet and Michael are smiling at one another and wearing matching white get-ups. We would give anything to see these two share the stage and sing 'Scream' once more.

There is no doubt that Michael Jackson was an inspiration to so many and incredibly influential in the world of music. Even 12 years after his passing, his music and memory strongly live on. Our hearts go out to his children and family on this tough anniversary week.

Michael Jackson Wanted To Be A Part Of 'Hunchback Of Notre Dame'. 21-06-'21

Hunchback Of Notre DameTo this day, 'The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' remains one of the most unique animated films Disney has ever produced. The company took some notable risks with the movie, but Michael Jackson's participation wasn't one of them.

Released in 1996 at the height of the so-called Disney Renaissance period, 'Hunchback' eschewed the princess movie fairytale archetypes of films like 'The Little Mermaid' for a darker tone and political story based on Victor Hugo's 1831 novel. In a new oral history over at SlashFilm, the directors, animators, actors, and other filmmakers discuss the making of Hunchback in detail.

One anecdote stands out in particular. Composer Alan Menken, who's hailed by the other oral history participants for creating his best score with Hunchback, reveals that Jackson displayed a strong interest in the project. Previous Disney films like 'Aladdin' had been successful at storming the charts with pop star covers of their songs, and Jackson was willing to try the same for 'Hunchback'.

"I get a call out of nowhere from Michael's assistant, when Michael was at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York," Menken told SlashFilm. "He had to [deal with] allegations about inappropriate behavior with underage kids, and the breakup with Lisa Marie Presley. He's looking to change the subject. And he obviously loves Disney so much. So I mentioned 'Hunchback'. He said he'd love to come to my studio, watch the movie, and talk about it. So we got in touch with Disney Animation. They said, 'Meet with him! If he likes it…well, see what he says.'"

Menken showed Jackson three songs: 'Out There' (Quasimodo's desperate plea to escape his confines in Notre Dame and experience the real world and its people), 'God Help The Outcasts' (Esmeralda's expression of solidarity with Quasimodo), and 'Someday' (which plays over the end credits).

"Michael said, 'I would like to produce the songs and record some of them.' Wow. Okay. What do we do now? Michael left," Menken said. "We got in touch with Disney. It was like somebody dropped a hot poker into a fragile bowl with explosives. 'Uh, we'll get back to you about that.'"

Menken continued, "finally, predictably, the word came back, 'Disney doesn't want to do this with Michael Jackson.' I go,''OK, could someone tell him this?' You can hear a pin drop, no response, and nobody did [tell him]. It fell to my late manager, Scott Shukat, to tell Michael or Michael's attorney. In retrospect, it was the right decision. [But] Quasimodo is a character… if you look at his relationships with his family and his father, I would think there's a lot of identification there."

Menken was probably right about Jackson's identification with Quasimodo. In the book 'Untouchable: The Strange Life And Tragic Death Of Michael Jackson', screenwriter Tom Hedley recalled that Jackson was a big fan of the 1939 film adaptation of 'Hunchback Of Notre Dame', and displayed interest in playing Quasimodo in a possible remake years before the Disney animated version materialized.

Disney and the Michael Jackson estate didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment on this story.

For the last decade, Sheryl Crow, who was once a back-up singer for Michael Jackson during the Bad World Tour, has been making up stories about Michael Jackson to make her relevant and remind the world she is still there – but who really cares!

This last few days, she is at it again! This time she goes after the late Frank Dileo who was Michael Jackson manager during the period 84-89.

She claimed that Dileo has been sexually harassing her during the Tour.

For years, Michael Jackson fans have been denouncing her shady attitude to get her name in the News headlines with no evidence and some times even proving she was actually lying.

And this time, she is finding her match! Belinda Dileo, Frank's daughter, is fighting back in the name of her late father. She is asking Crow to explain why she has to drag her father in the mud when Belinda was actually around and knows the truth.

Crow is jumping on the MeToo Movement to promote live stream show. Everytime Crow has something to promote or to sell, she gets her name in the news outlets to make sure the general public sees it.

Girl, it's time you get called on your bad behaviour!

And we hope Belinda gets to talk to her and set the record straight!

Sheryl Crow: 'We've Come A Long Way Since The Sexual Harassment I Endured During The Michael Jackson Tour'. 12-06-'21

Sheryl CrowIn 1987, a 25-year-old backing singer and aspiring songwriter from Missouri gatecrashed her way into the Los Angeles auditions for Michael Jackson's first ever solo world tour. "Hi Michael, my name is Sheryl Crow and I just moved here," she announced. "I'm a former music teacher and I would love to go on the road with you."

A month later Crow was onstage at the Korakuen stadium in Tokyo, her ears filled with the deafening roar of 75,000 fans. It was the first of 123 concerts over the next 16 months, during which she performed in front of a staggering 4.4 million people. Each night Crow, wearing a bustier and voluminous eighties curls, harmonised with Jackson and shared the limelight on songs like 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' and 'Man In The Mirror'” It should have been a dream come true.

"Naiveté is such a beautiful thing," says Crow, now 59, a nine-time Grammy winner and one of the most successful artists of her generation. She is speaking on a video call from her home in Nashville, her bedroom walls behind her filled with the art and arcane curios she collects from around the American south. An acoustic guitar lies at rest on the antique couch by her bed. "It was incredible in every way, shape and form for a young person from a really small town to see the world and to work with arguably the greatest pop star," she says. "But I also got a crash course in the music industry."

As the tour progressed, tabloids around the world reported rumours that Jackson was falling for his "sexy backing singer" and even that he had offered her $2m to have his child. In Crow's audiobook memoir 'Words + Music', released last September, she states her belief that these stories were most likely to have been planted by Jackson's manager, Frank DiLeo, "to make Mike look like he was interested in women."

In truth, it was DiLeo who was interested in Crow. He subjected her to sustained sexual harassment throughout the tour, promising to make her a star while threatening that if she refused, or told anyone, he would ensure her career was over before it had really begun. She had never spoken in detail about her experiences with DiLeo prior to 'Words + Music', but two songs on her 1993 debut album made reference to him: "What I Can Do For You', written from the perspective of a powerful abuser, and the stream-of-consciousness 'The Na-Na Song', which includes the defiant couplet: "Frank DiLeo's dong / Maybe if I'd have let him I'd have had a hit song'.

"It's really interesting to go back and revisit some of this old stuff and the experiences that went along with it, and then to compare it with where we are now," says Crow. "To be able to play that stuff about the long bout of sexual harassment I endured during the Michael Jackson tour and to talk about it in the midst of the MeToo movement... it feels like we've come a long way, but it doesn't feel like we're quite there yet."

When the Michael Jackson tour ended in 1989, Crow returned home to her tiny LA apartment and fell into a lengthy period of depression. A high-powered attorney she'd hired told her she should have put up with DiLeo's advances given what he could offer her. From the inside, the music industry didn't look anything like she'd expected.
