Quincy JonesQuincy Jones Recalls Meeting Michael For The First Time. 25-05-'21

Quincy Jones has opened up about meeting Michael Jackson when the late singer was just 12 years old.

The 88-year-old musician and producer made the comments while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter as part of their new Icon series.

"When he was 12 at Sammy Davis' house, and he told me when we decided to do [The Wiz], he says, "I need you to help me find a producer. I'm getting ready to do my first solo album."

The 28-time Grammy-winning producer said the young Jackson "knew how to do his homework" when it came to other artists, "whether it was with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly or whoever, James Brown. He was doing some Elvis copying, too. 'The King of Pop', man. Come on!"

Back in February, Jones was named on an advisory board to help support musicians in the US who have been affected by the corona virus pandemic.

Michael Jackson's Nephew Claims Martin Bashir Interview 'Destroyed His Uncle's Persona'. 24-05-'21N

Taj JacksonMichael Jackson's nephew Taj has claimed Martin Bashir 'destroyed his uncle's persona' in the infamous 2003 interview 'Living With Michael Jackson'.

In the wake of an independent inquiry ruling that journalist Bashir had engaged in "deceitful behaviour" to get his 1995 BBC Panorama interview with Princess Diana, Taj claimed his late uncle had been similarly "stabbed in the back".

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Monday, Taj said: "It's the betrayal aspect of it, someone that you let into your life and you trust.

"My uncle felt safe with him, and safe that he would portray him in the right light.

"My uncle looked at him as a friend, and through the voiceovers and the editing, [Bashir] really stabbed him in the back."

'Living With Michael Jackson' was an ITV documentary in which Bashir spent eight months getting to know the music star, who talked about sharing his bed with young boys but insisted it wasn't sexual.

Following the documentary's airing, Jackson was charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of intoxicating a minor with alcohol, although he was acquitted of all charges in 2005.

Taj said: "I always had faith that journalism meant something, and that day that faith died.

"This was a man who was let into my uncle's life, trusted... and then pretty much destroyed my uncles persona, I would say, when my uncle was looking to rehabilitate it."

A statement on behalf of Bashir said: "The ITV documentary team spent more than eight months filming with Michael Jackson. He signed two contracts to allow for filming and broadcast and Martin Bashir was always accompanied by a production team and crew.

"Following the documentary Mr Jackson was charged by the relevant authorities in the United States in relation to allegations concerning a teenage boy. It was the second time Michael Jackson had faced similar allegations in his lifetime. He was tried and eventually cleared by a court in California.

"Martin Bashir gave no evidence against him because, apart from a very few minutes of the documentary that featured Mr Jackson talking on camera – very willingly – about sleeping in bed with a child, the film did not contain any allegations of wrongdoing.

"To suggest the TV programme led to his death, over which his personal physician was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, is untrue."

In 2019 documentary 'Leaving Neverland', two of Jackson's alleged victims Wade Robson and James Safechuck spoke about their childhood experiences at the singer's Neverland Ranch and the devastating effects they said he continued to have on their lives.

Jackson died in 2009.

Bashir's Panorama interview with Princess Diana was found last week to have breached editorial rules at the BBC – a breach that was then covered up.

Michael Jackson's Family Claims Martin Bashir Tricked MJ Into Documentary. 23-05-'21

The Jackson FamilyMichael Jackson's family -- or at least some of them -- are outraged by the revelations about the BBC's Martin Bashir interview with Princess Diana, and they're reportedly considering legal action.

In case you don't remember, Bashir did a documentary in 2003 titled 'Living with Michael Jackson'. It profiled MJ's life at the Neverland Ranch. During the interview, Bashir lasered in on Jackson's relationship with young boys and the allegations of sexual abuse.

Jackson was unapologetic about sleeping in the same bed as 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo, saying, "Why can't you share your bed? That's the most loving thing to do, to share your bed with someone."

As you know, Jackson was prosecuted for allegedly molesting Arvizo. The jury found MJ not guilty.

In the wake of the report concluding Bashir deceived Princess Diana into doing her famous interview, Jackson's nephew, Taj, and MJ's brother, Tito, now allege Bashir "manipulated footage and unethical journalism."

The pair believe Bashir tricked Jackson the way he tricked Diana. Taj blames Bashir on Michael's death, saying, "Bashir's manipulated footage and unethically journalism is one of the main reasons my uncle Michael is not here today."

Taj wasn't done, adding, "That 2005 trial broke him. Shame on those who provided cover for Bashir. Shame on those who rewarded him. My family deserves an investigation & apology too."

Jackson's former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, told the Mirror the Jackson family is considering taking legal action.

The Michael Jackson Estate Is Working On A Biopic. 22-05-'21

The rumours have been going around since 2017 and after 'Bohemian Rhapsody', the Queen's biopic, more rumours about a Michael Jackson Biopic surfaced.

Few days ago, The Hits Daily Double interviewed David Lande, David Byrnes and John Branca from Ziffren Brittenham about being the best entertainment and corporate attorneys.

During a very short interview of all 3, John Branca said:

"As the co-producer of the' Michael Jackson: ONE' show in Las Vegas and the MJ biopic and Broadway play we have in development, the work has been ongoing. I'm looking forward to once again putting Michael's music and the work done by the talented team of the producers, directors, choreographers, dancers, actors and other creators involved in these productions in front of his fans and the public. The Estate of Michael Jackson continues to develop projects that honor the life and music of, in the memorable words of Berry Gordy, 'the greatest entertainer who ever lived.'"

Due to the pandemic, 'MJ ONE' will reopen its doors expecting to be in August and tickets for MJ Musical is now open for open doors December 2021.

But this is the first time that the Estate of Michael Jackson confirmed they are working on a MJ Biopic. In the past, the Estate have been denying such project will be considered but then when asked again few years later, they were aloof to the question.

Knowing their poor choice of selecting Lynn Nottage to do the book for the 'MJ Musical', fans can be worried about such biopic. Not to mention, Michael Jackson is maybe the most complex and changing artist that ever lived and depicting his life without offending his fans or the black community or people suffering of vitiligo will be a challenge! That's just for the casting of actors! Unfortunately, a biopic cannot and should not omit any aspects of his life, including the darkest times such as the allegations, his dependency to painkillers and his tragic death.

But the Estate have been sugar-coating the image of the 'King of Pop' since 2009, showing him as the greatest artist that ever lived, using mostly 'Thriller' and 'Bad' as imagery to remind the public of his greatness, being the king of music, dance and videos but also avoiding imagery post 'Dangerous'. Ignoring that Michael Jackson was also a human being, he had vitiligo, he wrote and sang about the allegations in 'HIStory'. All this have been ignored so would they do the same to a biopic? Time will tell.

A Jackson Family Museum That Never Happened. 22-05-'21

With the Hard Rock Casino opened in Gary, Indiana containing a section of casino dedicated to the Jackson Family with items from the members of the family, did you know that back in the 90s, there were plans to open a huge Jackson's museum?

But it could have been something much bigger and grandiose!

In 1995, The Jackson family contacted the Gary city officials about a project that would have re-imagined the city with a Graceland-like project!

"The Jackson family called us to say they'd like to do this huge endeavor in the city of Gary, for the city of Gary," recalled Hughes, a city councilman at the time.

"I just got a call from the Jacksons," former Gary Mayor Thomas Barnes told Hughes on that unforgettable day. "They want to do something amazing for our community."

Hard Rock Casino Indiana MemorabiliaMemorabilia from The Jackson 5 adorns the newly opened Hard Rock Northern Indiana Casino in Gary.

In December 1995, a contingent of city officials went to the Jackson family home in Los Angeles to discuss and explore the project. It is said to be a 232-acre development at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Interstate 65, tabbed to cost between $2 billion and $5 billion, and would feature a sprawling Jacksons-branded theme park, a performance arts center, and Jackson 5 family museum, among other amenities in different phases. The project would have been privately funded by corporate investors, not by city taxpayers or the Jackson family and a non-profit foundation, named the 6594 Foundation, was also to be created to give back a percentage of revenue to the local community.

"We had signatures of every Jackson family member except for Michael. This was all done with his blessing," and official recall.

Michael Jackson was on tour at the time of the meetings but family members reassured that he gave his blessing to the project. This might explain why all the members of the Jackson family kept all the items they had including Michael's and Janet's which she recently sold all in Auction via Julien's last week!

The first wing of the Jackson Five museum would feature the family's entire home that's still located at 2300 Jackson St. "We had the rights to move it and relocate it, All of the legal rights were taken care of."

But in 1996, the new mayor of Gary, Mayor Scott King then rejected the proposal. Local news papers headlined "New Mayor tells Jackson Family to beat it."

In 1996, Jermaine and Janet Jackson wrote their own editorial in support of the project. In another story, the Jackson family's attorney stated the political climate in Gary prevented the project from becoming a reality. "Political feuding and personal egos" were blamed for its demise.

The then City official Chuck Hughes shared is feelings: "The perception about the Jackson family was that they didn't care about the city of Gary. That's just plain wrong. They cared. They tried. They got a bum rap, Am I pleased with the new Hard Rock casino that's here? Yeah, of course. But can I help thinking about what could have been here? No, I can't."

Martin Bashir: Uri Geller Has 'Very Major Regrets' Over Introducing Michael Jackson To 'Smooth Operator'. 21-05-'21

Uri GellerThe psychic who was a close friend of Jackson said he would never have introduced him to Martin Bashir if he had known about his deception of Princess Diana.

Israeli psychic Uri Geller has 'very major regrets' about introducing Michael Jackson to Martin Bashir, telling i he would never have done so had he known about the BBC reporter's deception of Princess Diana.

The spoon-bending psychic still feels guilty about making the introduction that led to Bashir's 2003 documentary 'Living With Michael Jackson' – with disastrous results for the 'King of Pop'.

Speaking to i from his home in Israel, Mr Geller gave his reaction to Lord Dyson's damning findings that Mr Bashir deceived Princess Diana to secure his infamous 1995 interview and BBC bosses covered this up.

He said: "My immediate reaction is I'm not surprised, an ethical journalist shouldn't go there. I met Martin Bashir and I felt an uneasiness.

"I have very major regrets. If I knew then of the controversies that are raging around Martin Bashir and the BBC I would have never ever have introduced Michael [Jackson] to Martin Bashir."

The documentary led to Jackson's arrest and trial on molestation charges and despite being acquitted the pop star's life went "spiralling downwards", Mr Geller said.

He recalled how his close friend Jackson tasked him with finding someone he could trust to do a documentary on his life. The now 74-year-old had planned to ask Sir David Frost but was eventually persuaded by Mr Bashir after initially turning him down several times.

Mr Bashir visited his house in Sonning-on-Thames in 2002 and showed him a letter in which Diana said how happy she was with their interview.

Describing the meeting, Mr Geller said: "I am a perceptive person, I can read body language and I can extract certain feelings from certain people, and it was an uneasy meeting. I felt that I was sitting next to a smooth operator, that's how I felt. You know today I kick myself for not following my psychic feelings at that time.

"It wasn't a nice amicable meeting, I felt that he was trying to extract out of me something that he wanted desperately to have."

Mr Geller described how Mr Bashir pulled the "crumpled up" letter out of his wallet. Despite thinking it was a strange place to keep a personal note from Diana, the letter convinced him of the journalist's credibility.

He said: "I very vividly remember Martin [Bashir] produced a letter that Princess Diana wrote him, he pulled it out of his wallet, it was crumpled up and I remember the first thought that went through my head was 'if this was a real letter from Diana why would he keep it in his wallet and fold it up?"

"I would put a letter like that aside, or even frame it. It said something along the lines of how happy she was with the interview.

"Whether she actually wrote that to him or whether it was a fake letter I don't know.

"I do remember that it had the logo of Princess Diana or Kensington Palace."

Mr Geller told Mr Jackson about the letter and "very soon after that" set up a meeting between the singer and Bashir at a London hotel.

He said: "That was credible information I had in my hand that he will like Martin because he interviewed Princess Diana.

"I took Martin Bashir up to Michael's room in the hotel and I left them to be, I walked out of the picture that was it. The rest is history of course."

In Mr Bashir's film, which aired on ITV, Jackson admitted to sleeping in the same bedroom as a 12-year-old boy. He was subsequently charged on molestation charges but acquitted after a 16-week trial.

The tide of public opinion turned dramatically against Mr Jackson two years ago with the release of 'Leaving Neverland: Michael Jackson And Me'. The documentary saw two men discuss their sexual abuse at the hands of the pop star in detail.

Mr Geller, who maintains his friend did not sexually abuse children, said: "I thoroughly regretted introducing them because the documentary was devastating to Michael.

"Immediately after that I believe he started spiralling downwards. But again in my opinion the documentary probably could have been a good if Michael didn't do some mistakes in the documentary… sitting down with boys and holding their hands. The world didn't understand Michael."

ABC Should Open Michael Jackson Interview Investigation As BBC Finds Martin Bashir "Deceived" Princess Diana's Brother To Get Famous Interview. 20-05-'21

Martin BashirJournalist Martin Bashir made his name on two big celebrity interviews. One was for the BBC with Princess Diana. The other was with ABC concerning Michael Jackson.

Now Bashir has been ousted from the BBC. An investigation published just now has found Bashir "deceived" Princess Diana by showing her brother phony documents to get the 1995 interview. The interview was an international sensation that basically exposed her marriage as a fraud and ended it.

Diana would die two years later in an infamous, suspicious car wreck in Paris.

In 2003, Bashir interviewed Michael Jackson at his Neverland Ranch when the Arvizo family was visiting. The ABC special made Jackson seem like a pedophile. It prompted a new investigation from then Santa Barbara District Attorney Tom Sneddon, who was looking for a reason to arrest the singer.

What followed was an avalanche of bad publicity, Sneddon contacting the Arvizo's to create a case that didn't exist, an arrest, humiliation for the singer, and a 2005 trial in which Jackson was acquitted.

Jackson, humiliated, left town and died four years later after a series of moves, trips, and poor choices led to a Dr. Conrad Murray killing him during a neglectful treatment.

The whole time Bashir filmed Jackson, Jackson's videographer was documenting the episode. In court, we were able to see that "outtake" film as part of Jackson's defense. The results were shocking, and certainly affected the jury's decision to acquit Jackson. Bashir clearly used Jackson, and led him to say certain things and appear as Bashir wanted him to, in order to create false impressions.

Maybe now that the BBC has re-evaluated Bashir's manipulations in the Princess Diana case, ABC will turn its attention to the Michael Jackson story.

Sonic 3Sonic 3 To Finally Credit Michael Jackson? 15-05-'21

SEGA has an important date to celebrate on June 23rd, 2021: the 30th anniversary of the most famous hedgehog in the world, Sonic. The company previously said it has some "exciting news" that it hopes to share with fans soon - including new games, digital content and more.

Rumor has it that Sonic the 'Hedgehog'3' & 'Knuckle'; according to the famous Zippo leaker the game will return in a new version.

"He's back. And I promise you. It was thought that it was impossible, but it is coming. There will be some changes, however. More soon."

The reference to being "impossible" is probably linked to the legal issues surrounding the Sonic the 'Hedgehog 3' soundtrack - some of the tracks were composed by Michael Jackson, but have not been credited. It seems that Sega would finally have found a way to revive this classic.

Will the 'King of Pop' finally be credited?

Michael Jackson Among The Artists Represented At The MTV Turns Forty Exhibition At The Grammy Museum In Mississippi. 15-05-'21

MTV Turns FortyThe Grammy Museum Mississippi in Cleveland launched its first major exhibit yesterday (May 14) to mark the 40th anniversary of MTV, the iconic 80s television channel known for its music video broadcast.

In addition to exploring the history of MTV, the exhibit will feature memorabilia from some artists who have become superstars through, among other things, their exposure on MTV. Artists like Madonna, Duran Duran, Dire Straits, Aerosmith and Run-DMC but especially Michael Jackson as far as we are concerned, since the leather suit he wore in the video for 'Dirty Diana', as well as the contracts of his other video shoots are part of this exhibition, including the contract for the very famous music video for 'Thriller'.

The reason the show is in Mississippi is simply because one of the founders of MTV, Bob Pittman, is from that state. It will run until June 1, 2022 and is expected to travel around the world.

Note that in 2017, the Grammy Museum Mississippi offered a special exhibition celebrating the 35th anniversary of the 'Thriller' album.

Michael Jackson's Gary 2nd Grade Teacher Eager For Hard Rock Opening. 12-05-'21

There are memories that remain forever etched in our memory and which often emerge from the recollection of exceptional events. This is what happened to Anita Hill, Michael Jackson's sophomore music teacher at James Henry Garnett School in 1967.

Following information regarding the opening this weekend of the Hard Rock Casino in Gary, Anita Hill's daughter wrote to the Chicago Tribune to advise them that her mother, Anita Hill, still lives in Gary and is very excited about the event. upcoming opening of the Hard Rock Casino. On the one hand because she spends a lot of time at the Casino but mainly because she was the music teacher of Michael Jackson whom she had put forward in his first musical at the James Garnett elementary school in 1967.

In her letter, she explains that this story is recounted in author J. Moffet Walker's book 'Blueprints Of Sir Michael', published in 2010. "My mother cherishes her memories which show the exact concert at the school where Michael was, when he was in 2nd grade, which might be of interest to the promoters of the Hard Rock Casino."

A page from the March 1967 school recital program from Michael Jackson's second grade performance at James Henry Garnett School lists him as a soloist singing 'Climb Every Mountain'.

Very receptive to this letter, to Anita Hill's testimony and to the school's program page, the organizers have added her name to the guest list.

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough: Michael Jackson Musical "MJ" Will Get 7 Preview Weeks, Open February 1, 2022. 11-05-'21

MJ MusicalThe Michael Jackson musical is here.

"MJ" will get seven weeks of previews beginning December 20 and open February 1, 2022. This will be a show dependent on suspension of disbelief and a willingness to dance in the aisles.

There have been worse ideas.

The Michael Jackson musical will go from his childhood through the success of 'Thriller', and there before things get too weird. Maybe they'll throw in some songs from 'Bad', too.

Running concurrently with the Temptations musical, 'Ain't Too Proud', we'll be getting real dose of Motown and a third show in which Berry Gordy is a character. That may be a record.

Look for a lot of Moonwalking, beaded silver gloves for sale in the lobby, and everyone singing 'Billie Jean' together, standing in the theater. It should be a lot of fun.

Don't stop til you get enough!

PS: You know, this would after the story of the musical, but Michael did make his kids wear masks all those years. He was prescient!

Michael Jackson first son, Prince Jackson has been added to the Michael Jackson Estate payroll!

The Estate has deposited court documents to request Prince Jackson to be allowed to work for the Estate as a special consultant.

"The managers believe it would be in the best interest of the Estate and the MJJ Business for Michael Jackson's son, Prince, to be employed by the Estate and/or one of its entities as a consultant on certain designated projects. Therefore, Petitioners seek this Court's order authorizing them to employ Prince as a consultant on such terms and for such purposes as shall be agreed upon by the Managers and Prince."
